  1. There should be a law against that!
  2. Like the old joke: How do you get to Carnaige Hall? Practice, practice, practice.
  3. In '89, Jeep switched from the BA10 to the AX15, so you have an early model year MJ. The AX15 was used in just about all Jeeps with the 4.0 engines. I am not sure when they stopped using it. If you are looking to up grade, look for a '96 or later model TJ or XJ. That was when Jeep switched to external slave cylinder. If you find one, be sure to get EVERYTHING! including the bell housing, and the internal parts, and the cross member under the trans. The cross member is diff from the BA10. Also, you will need the transfer case (assuming 4WD), since the spline count is diff from the BA to AX. Simply put, "everything bell housing to the trans case."
  4. I am no authority, but I have been told by an "authority" to use Penzoil SyncroMesh for my BA10. (That authority was the transmission shop that serviced my trans.)

    MD guys

I have it on my calander. Hopefully my truck will be ready by then. It is still in the body shop. They are taking way too long. Then everything needs to go back in.
  6. Grizzzz, the panels aren't cheap and the shipping just about equaled the cost of the panel. He is near Toledo OH. So if you are close to that, you could pick up.
  7. I purchased a bed side panel from Z&M Jeep. Call for Zack after 6 edt. http://stores.zmjeeps.com/StoreFront.bok
  8. Sounds like you just need to replace a bulb.
  9. Where is Fair Hill, MD?
  10. The two single socket connector are for illumination. They hold small lights and twist in to the respective dash switches. I believe the other two are for fog lamps (C176) and for Power Comfort Switch (C261). The Pwr Comf were not available on the MJ. So, it just hangs loose with the respective illimination plug. EDIT: The wire colors are from the 88 electrical manual The illuminators have an orange w/blk and black wires. C176 Fog lights have light green, light green w/ blk and black. C261 Pwr/Comf have black/yellow, tan, and black.
  11. PepBoys has a free loaner program. You have to put a deposit down that equals the cost of the item. You have 5 to 7 days to return it. You then get a full refund. I believe other auto shop have similar loaner programs.
  12. Get a lock plate spring compressor while you're at it. That was included in the free loaner toll set.
  13. Wasn't too difficult. You need a steering wheel puller. I used one through PepBoys. You have to get under the dash and move some things off the column.
  14. Mythoughts originally...but all the wires run through that switch. Remember, when you activate your turn signal, it overides the brake light.
  15. Similar thing happened to me. I changed the turn signal switch in the steering column. That fixed it.
  16. See the attached link. http://comancheclub.com/topic/12083-electrical-manual/ It's the electric diagram for an 88. I have it download on my computer. What yr and engine is your MJ?
  17. You say you have a 91. That's a Chrysler HO. Mine is an 87 Renix. Will the sending unit wiring match?
  18. :hijack: I need a new fuel pump etal. I am replacing the tank on my 87 Larado. The guy at the body shop tells me that NAPA has pump in stock. However, from the other members here, most of these over-the-counter pumps won't fit the 23 gal tank. Is the body shop guy correct? Will these pumps fit? I checked on-line with Advances Auto and read the prod reviews. They all said the same thing: pump did not fit. (Airtex Elect. #E7006, Bosch #69302, Denso #950-3024). Advise?
  19. Not all of the wiring in the linked file is the same for the 87. The wire connectors changed from 87 to 88. Not all but some behind the dash.
  20. Here's what mine looked like. The cable runs on the left side of the picture - top to bottom - through the floor reinforcement. The truck is at a body shop to fix the floor and a paint job.
  21. Not too hard. It just takes some musle to pull out the old and fish throught new.
  22. Then you should start in the cab. Remove the driver's seat and pull up the carpet. Inspect the cable for crimps or breaks. I replace my main cable last year. Got it NAPA. It was in stock in the store!
  23. Was the parking brake pushed on or was it released? While you are down looking at the cables, have someone pushing the pedal in and release it several time. Examine how the cables move. That will help identify where to start your search.
  24. Ok, here ya go. For the wire harnesses, the first is C178 - Headlight Display Module (optional) The second is the C253 - cruise control module The last is the C355 - Emission maintenance timer. http://comancheclub.com/topic/12083-electrical-manual/ If you have not already downloaded this, I recommend you download and save it.
  25. My MJ is currently in the body shop getting restored. The tech told me the tank is leaking. After discussing options, I am looking at replacing it with a new (23.5 gal). Rockauto list two brands - Dorman and Spectra. Besides a $20 price dif, does anyone have knowledge/experience with either brand? Do you know if one is better than the other? I am not interested in getting a used tank, since any used tank is also 20 + yrs old. Additionally, the tech recommended tank straps. A Jeep parts cataloge list different straps for tanks w/ and w/o skid plates. My MJ has a skid plate. The Dorman and Spectra strap part numbers seem to match the parts "w/o skid plates." Will the "w/o straps" fit on my tank with the skid plate? Can the straps be modified to fit? (The old straps have not come off yet to determine their condition.)
