  1. I am no mechanic, but there has been a lot of info about putting a 4.0 into an '86. Something about cutting the fire wall. If $$ is an issue, then the 4.0 may not be your best options. My $0.02.
  2. The originals from Jeep. The bumper is gone. The plastic parts went to GA.
  3. I swapped the bumper on my last fall. I kept the brackets and bolts (except one) from the original. I may be per$uaded to part with them.
  4. I found the part number, but it does not give a size. J400 6964. Check with a dealer for the size.
  5. Where did you get the panel boards? The ones on mine are suffering from water damage. Probably from a leaking side vent window.
  6. The bed rails look too short. Are they after market? Mine run the length of the bed.
  7. I think the consensus is.... there is no consensus. Two other threads asking the same question has too many different fluids to agree. I will use what the manufacture recommends: 75/90 gl3
  8. here's a view of diff covers to determine what you have. You need to go to page three for the diff covers. (I can't capture the image and post it to this page.)
  9. I once towed a small popup camper 200 round trip to hills in WV. The last 4 were a jeep trail with approx. 2000 ft of gain.
  10. While searching through older postings, I came upon this for the '88 FSM: http://comancheclub....service-manual/ I tried to download the link, but my browser kept blocking it. Is it still good to download? If anyone that did download it can link it to your listing I would appreciate it. Edit: I was able to save it. Right click the icon. Save it to your computer
  11. 96" = 8' So, it is to long for the 6' or 7' beds.
  12. I just picked up my trans and Tcase from the shop that rebuilt the trans. (BA 10/5 and 231) The guy told me to use Penzoil Synthetic in the trans and 5/30 in the tcase. But the prior link said not to use Penzoil?!?! Should I just use the 75/90? For the tcase, he said that ATF will foam up while driving and could blow out the vent tube. He said 5/30 will not foam the same way. I ask for your $0.02 (US and CA $)
  13. This company sells side panels for the MJ. Several members have bought from him - myself included. http://stores.zmjeeps.com/StoreFront.bok The panel was about $160. Shipping was about the same. The company is outside Toledo, OH, so you may be able to drive there.
  14. He did not ask me for a deposit. He did get my name and number. You should call him.
  15. I spoke with Joe today. He said he will produce about 20 3/2 military wrap springs. It could be done in about 4 weeks. He will post on CC when they're available. I reserved two for me.
  16. Since Joe's last post said that to get a group discount, he needed a run of 10 springs. That's 5 people ordering 2 springs. I think there is enough for a 3/2 w/ double wrap. If there is enough interest in another config, then he may give a discount for that run. You would need to get 5 members to agree to the 3/1 or 4/1.
  17. I like that. I was think of "hearding cats" or "sweeping fleas."
  18. Is there still a discount available? Joe??? It sounds like everyone has different needs and wants. For a group discount do we all have to order the same springs? Do we have to order at the same time? Is it possible to get a discount code to use when ordering?
  19. That what I have recorded for you. My '87 is currently getting restored. So I am looking ot move soon on a purchase.
  20. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but the 3/2 is three regular springs with two booster springs. There is only one wrap spring. The two boosters give you a greater weight capasity - 1700 lbs per spring. The 4/1 has four regular springs with one booster. Two of the regular springs wrap around the bolts (front only?) to give additional support (why?). I don't know the weight rating or lift. The 3/1 config give a weight capacity of 1280 lbs per spring. I don't know if there is any lift from 3/1. I am leaning for the 3/2. I don't know why I would need the add'l wrap, but I would like the lift and weight capasity. My $0.02 My reply from GS said that the 3/2 would give approx 1.5" lift
  21. Ok, everyone, I have tried to summerize who has expressed interest in buying sets and the configuration. If I missed someone or got the wrong config, please correct me. Garvin - 3/1 ride172 -3/2 butchershop - 3/2 cpa tim - 3/2 or 4/1 jvd - 3/2 or 4/1 sinkrun - 3/2 or 4/1 86comanche - 3/2 or 4/1 biotex - 4/1 3/2 danbyrambler - 3/2 or 4/1 87warrior - 4/1 tazer15 - 4/1 That make 12 possible customers, but not a committment to the configuration.
  22. I agree. My BA10 is 25 yrs old. Got me 268000 miles. It has never left me stranded or had any work done to it. I change the gear oil for the first time last Sept. Of course, your results may vary. (tounge in cheek. Please don't bash me. Not all of them were bad.)
  23. Put me down for two 3/2. How do we coordinate the ordering, since we are spread out arond the country? How much of discount can we expect?
