I used to have a bunch of HO stuff. Actually, I still have some. I saved the better of my engines and a bunch of the electrical junk, IIRC. It's all in storage somewhere at my parents house (they have lots of 'stuff' there. Most of it nobody has any idea of what it is, and the space isn't needed so nobody has ever looked at it). I doubt I'll ever get back into it. My life is a long list of sidetracks, jeeps, trucks, girls, trying to buy a house, traveling job, etc.

That's why I like my dodge cummins... It's predictably bad. As long as I remember I'm driving it, I'll be fine. Stopping distance is measured in miles or minutes, merging into traffic involves getting the truck completely sideways, and there's no turning above 60km/h. Don't get in my way, I'm big and going in a straight line, unless I'm sideways. I'll be buying studded tires tomorrow... I'm going to tow my trailer around a bunch (have to move), and really don't feel like doing it with BFG A/Ts. I'll say I really preferred my old MT/Rs, even without siping.

Well, my city already spent the entire snow removal budget for the winter. I think it's because of corruption, not the snowfall, but I :dunno: They don't exactly do a very good job for the money they've burned through. In other related snow news, I broke the plow truck at one of our hangars. Not plowing snow, just moving trailers around IN the snow. I think it's snowed every day there since I did that, so I bet they're having fun digging out without it. Of course I left the same day I broke it...

How about a 'Ridiculous Craigslist Ad's' thread........

I've got a bridge you might be interested in. -
Most bumpers aren't sized for the 8274 and similar winches.

You don't need the frame. I'd be more concerned about a body that's fixable and a title. It has a title, so you're half way there. If nothing else, $100 for a title that isn't a headache is a good deal.

Poly-Performance 4 link users?
DirtyComanche replied to ncgamedog's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Old RK were radius arms, or 'Y-links' as they seem to be often called now. I can't comment on the kit in question. -
How to flush One-million Dollars down the toilet.
DirtyComanche replied to Darren's topic in The Pub
The reality is, it's insured. Whatever. 'We' (being who I work for) lost $3.5 million this summer in a splash. Sure, it sucked, but whatever, it was payed back. Same with when we lost $1.7~ last winter with a loud 'thwack' sound. Or when 'we' (not my division that time, thankfully) lost over $16 million in the early spring (IIRC) in another 'splash' incident. Who cares, it's insured. He'll have another one as soon as the check clears. Money comes and goes... They build new cars every day. -
Hi flow coolant pump...verses stock
DirtyComanche replied to azscott's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The engine is supposed to run OVER 190. The factory tstat is a 198, IIRC, and I would not recommend deviating from it. If it seems hot, the gauge may also be at fault. Is is naive automatically assume that a $3 gauge is actually reading with any sort of precision. I've not had any real problems with the regular parts house water pumps, other than once being sold the wrong one. -
I doubt I'll do better than I was... The detached garage was oh, 30x20ish, gas heat, and I wasn't paying the bills for the gas or electricity... And my roommate had no real projects, just a street bike. A looky-loo (and no, I doubt I am spelling that correctly if there is actually a correct spelling) is somebody who is wandering around looking at things. IE, the people the realtors would drag through, despite them most likely having no intention to buy. I also apply the term to tourists. As of now, my plan is to move in with some of my greasy friends; since I'm in a hurry at this point. It's not ideal. The place looks like a crack house, has a bunch of welfare/status losers renting the basement, and there's no space to keep any of my junk. Bright side? 300 a month, and the parties are great. And I can toss everything I own (that is here, at least) in my old GMC and leave it in the secure parking at work (who needs storage when you have 'previously enjoyed' automobiles?). We'll see. I'm just trying to ride this winter out, at this point.

No... My training isn't valid there (yet). And I still have my job here! Not to mention they probably wouldn't give me a green card, can't have the :Canadaflag: trash stealing all your jobs. I was paying $500 a month, so $125 a week. It was a good deal to start with, even better when he decided to move out... Too bad it didn't last. Oh, while my training is valid in Hamilton, I can't see myself living there. Okay, I've never been there, so I probably shouldn't pass judgment yet. Nah, I can, not interested. It's safe, don't worry; it was never at this house... It's about 450 miles south of here right now. However, I do have another 'spare' automobile here, which I'll have to move (serious complication, since my trailer is with the XJ, and I don't have a good place to store either here).

So, in the mostly uneventful saga that is my life... I recently moved out of the apartment I was in, since, well, they kinda sold the place on me. I had a good opportunity to rent a room off a co-worker who had a decent (if small) house, with a nice detached garage. Perfect. Fast forward about 6 weeks into this. He tells me he's going to quit (various reasons, can't really blame him) and move away, so the house is going to be for sale... Great, not interested in buying since the future of my own job is somewhat murky, otherwise it could have been an excellent opportunity. However, I could continue to stay there at the same rental agreement, so basically I had the whole place to myself for the sake of keeping it clean and putting up with a looky-loos. Besides, I figured the housing market wasn't that great, most people shy away from buying in winter, etc, so maybe if spring rolled around and it was still on the market and things were looking better at work, that I could buy it then if I felt like it... Nope. He texted me at 11:45 tonight, she's sold. It's been on the market since Tuesday last week. And I have to be out by the 15th of December... Yeah. :wall: The good news is I own almost nothing, so moving is very easy. Where I'm going next, I don't know, but I'm sure I can enjoy a cold beer there just the same.

Wear more clothes. That's what we do in the helicopters (no helicopter has ever come with a heater that actually works well at -40). :D Or just buy the small heater, as it will keep it luke-warm, sorta, at least enough that if you're wearing a jacket it will be okay. Throwing some dynamat or equivalent product on the inside of the doors, back of the cab, etc, will also help keep the heat in. I run a 900W buddy in my cummins, wired in with the block heater (1 plug), and it keeps the cab warmer than "Screw this I want to die". Of course, it runs all the time when I plug it in. If you're stopping in places that have plug ins, I'd recommend the buddy wired in with the block heater.

Going out on a limb here but anyone who buys a 200k JK is out of their god-damned mind. Bolt in kit for a YJ starts at 60k.... Price is in :Canadaflag: , so if you bought at the right time it would have been a 'better' deal, other than when you had to pay tax to import it...
-
The guys at GOCMS need to buy it and do one of their conversions to it. Oh, the hatred that would ensue. I remember them getting (customer provided) a brand new JK and pulling the motor and suspension with only 50km~ on it to swap in a SBC and their suspension. http://www.gocms.com if you're going

Best of luck on the recovery Pong. Obviously, a set of 5-points for the cart would be a good investment.

So you can kill a man with your bare hands. Although, that really doesn't apply to you. Hmm. Maybe more so they know you can hold onto a wrench? What's the step test? I keep thinking I might wind up in the military if my civilian job tanks...

21. But I come off as 30~, or so I am normally told. Turns out she's 40. I thought she was 30ish. She probably thought I was too. Anyways, wasn't over twice my age. I should have known better when she straight up told me she was a cougar. Well, not that it would really have changed a thing. Best part, one of my friends (22 or 23) took her friend home... She also is about 40, and no, I didn't think she was that old either.
-
Okay, so, I didn't exactly take it easy for night #2. The good news is she was probably only twice my age, tops, and her son is probably younger than me. And I'm going to blame that on Baby Duck champagne. Very classy drink. Not that I'm really complaining about how the night went. Yeah... :rotfl2:

Yay for drinking. I think I'm going to take it easier tonight.

It's past 3am, I'm very drunk. That god for firefox spell check. Tomorrow will suck, if I make it that far. :ack: G'night.

I don't think he has been, it should show banned on his user profile if he is. Bad joke

I still think the cummins B3.3 is a decent idea if you can find one. Or buy one new. I was willing to try that route out but never got around to it. It's lighter than the 4Bs, and smaller in all dimensions. You'd have to come up with your own accessory drive setup for it though, as you can't bolt the P/S and Vacuum pump assembly from the 4/6B to it. And the bellhousing pattern is SAE #3 or #4, so a certain amount of adapters would be needed either way. Also, you'd have to buy/make the kit to mount the turbo lower. Also, the Nissan SD33T should swap pretty good, but they're not plentiful. Some scouts had them, along with some nissan SUVs, and some larger nissan equipment had them too in either the turbo or N/A flavour. Also, the CJ-10a aircraft tugs had them, but I'm pretty certain it was the N/A version. The N/A version would not be worth driving, and I can't find any information if there is internal differences between the turbo and N/A engines (one would suspect not, but some N/A diesels lack extra oil jets to cool the pistons, and etc). The engine is basically the same size as a 4.0L.
