It's just a pond, so you're not going to see any significant wave action. Likewise, no boats tied to the pier, I'd assume? I think you will be fine just pushing the posts in with the bucket on the tractor. Will it put posts in on dry land? They should go in even easier in the water, unless there's a real hard bottom. I'm assuming you're just planning to use fence posts... One way or another, it would probably last a while like that. No need to bring in a pile driver and put in telephone poles...

Apparently somebody looked at one of the dually trucks. It was a metric ton with wheel spacers/adapters, and dually fenders from some other type of truck, IIRC.

Tractor bucket should work good. Excavators work even better, but that's probably not an option.

Clear coat that tub and make it into a buggy, it already comes with rash/character.

A dealership did dually conversions, from new, I think. There's a couple pictures floating around here. No crew cabs... But there might be one or two made out of Cherokees by now, people were talking about it, then I fell out of the loop, that was a while ago :dunno:

Pump price is about $.68/liter up here right now. Gas is $1.24  I have a propane truck (which I'm currently not driving, but that's beside the point), and I've often wondered if it would be worthwhile to get a big tank and have it bulk filled... I'm not sure what the bulk rate is here. I've also thought about getting another MJ and swapping it over to propane. I still have the parts to do it, although I'd have to go rescue them. I'd have to find the right candidate for that, though, one that's got major electrical issues, so I wouldn't feel like I was going backwards taking my big side-cutters to the harness.

Usurper in Chief says it's OK to kill amerikan Bald Eagle

Yes. In the Queen Charlotte Islands; now called 'Haida Gwaii' for reasons I will not endorse. They are bastard birds. But very pretty. I haven't an opinion on the laws, however I do have an opinion on a group of citizens being given additional 'rights' based solely on race. That is racism. It is discrimination against anyone who did not happen to be born of enough native blood to claim status (or however it works in the US). I would love to see the reservation system abolished, all current treaties with aboriginal 'nations' be torn up and burned, and for all 'status' programs to be cancelled. Equality is freedom, and they need a dose of it. If somebody wants to poke me, I'll tell some stories and say some really bad things. :shake: -
It's in Russia, or some other country like that... Apparently that model of SUV is known for not exactly crashing well. At least, that's what I recall from the comments the first time I saw it. Not that it would likely have mattered very much. And yeah, they died.

Take if off every oil change, check that it's still charged, and give it a shake... :dunno: I think it would be fine, and pretty easy to remember that type of a maintenance schedule.

I've thought about finding a gutless import diesel and swapping one in, yes... I don't know that I could be bothered to brew biodiesel, but if she'll run on my waste oil and the waste fuel from work, then that's fine by me. If I could find a 2.1L diesel for an acceptable price, I'd buy one. The last diesel XJ I saw for sale locally was over $5K asking, and not budging much :rotfl2:

It's not illegal, but it's not exactly legal either. You can still buy halon extinguishers, but I don't know if you can as an individual anymore... We buy them all the time at work, as the only thing approved for use in an aircraft is halon. All of them are only filled with 'recycled' halon, as it's now illegal to manufacture halon. Also, it's not really toxic... But it will kill you. It binds with the oxygen in the air and makes it inert. You can suffocate yourself by simply spraying it in a confined area. Yet, oddly, it's what they want you to use if you're flying around. :dunno: It's also horrible for the ozone layer, which is why they banned manufacturing of it.

Id like to know why,,, long term storage on their side can be detrimental to their proper functioning. If they're dry powder, it tends to become a solid block over time. There's a standpipe running down the middle of the cylinder, and the powder only fills half of the cylinder; so in a worst case scenario you'll turn it upright and only the CO2 charge will come out, with now powder. If you leave a dry powder sideways for a long time, turn it upright and smack it on the ground before you use it. At least, that's what I was told when I took my aircraft fire fighting course... And having taken apart an old dry powder extinguisher I believe it. This would all also be avoided by sending the extinguishers out on a bi-annual basis for recharging. Also, they dry powder ones are not all the same. Purple K is the stuff to get, if you can find it. I used it to put out a Jet-A fire, and was amazed at what it can do. However, if you use it, vacuum the $#!& out of everything post-fire, then wash it the best you can with soapy water, then baking soda and water. If you use it inside a cab, you're going to have to pull everything apart to clean it. I don't think the Purple K stuff was supposed to be as corrosive as the others, but all of the dry powder stuff is. Halon is ridiculously expensive. It does work well. That's what the most expensive small extinguishers are. It also stores well, providing nothing leaks (IE, a seal doesn't go).

I thought it might be. Vented crawl spaces aren't too normal this far north. Crawl spaces are a bit of a grey area anyways, seems people have a lot of different ideas on venting. Building codes in the U.S. have required venting for crawl spaces for at least 30 or 40 years. Your code will most likely still allow an unvented crawl space. It just has to be conditioned by the same air system as the rest of the house. That is how I am used to seeing them; makes more sense if it's cold...

Hit up www.garagejournal.com and search around for somebody doing something similar to what you want, often they will post their costs, etc. I think for $30K you should have no issue getting somebody to build that, from start to finish, for you.

I was so happy that this had fallen on the weekend that I was not working, this year. 'Course the boss called me today and asked if I'd mind working Saturday and Sunday to change a head and mast... :( I absolutely hate DST and would love to see it go away. I don't think it saves any electricity, certainly not this far north at least.

Sometimes it's worth it just to take it to the quick lube places...

Well, judging by the local Craigslist ads... Minor Surface Rust = You can put a finger through the body panels Surface Rust = Whole fist through body panels Rusty = There's an extra entrance/exit through either the floor, roof, of some other part of the body that used to be sheetmetal Badly Rusted = You're buying a frame, at best

Once I factor in plane tickets, fuel, and the hassle of importing it, it isn't worth it :(

Doesn't look bad to me. I'd fix the alignment and drive it.

Does it crank? Does it spark? Is it getting fuel?

There's two different ones. Earlier and later. No, I don't know the split, but I think it's in the later 80s. IIRC, my 89 XJ had the later style, that only mounted to the bumper; if somebody wants to go through the build thread for that thing, there is pictures.

Extra ridge in the roof immediately above the chimney, which deflects snow/water to either side of it, rather than allowing it to build up against the chimney. They're kinda recommended if the chimney is not near the ridge of the roof, or very narrow. If it is flashed well, and has worked, it's probably okay...

Cultured stone, or another product? Looks real good.

I seem to like beat up old Warn 8274s. Have one on my big ugly GMC thing, and one sitting in the pile of parts for my XJ. They're reliable, reasonably fast with the older motors, and can be found with 150' of cable for only a couple hundred dollars. Only problem is they're big, and awkward to mount.
-
Agreed. I have one. It was the floor model/demo, so it was cheap. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have sprung to buy it, but knowing what I know now, I would pay full price. Also, people with water beds... Check your homeowner's insurance. Some have a premium for water beds. They present a risk of water damage. If you didn't disclose it when getting insurance, you might not be covered...
