  1. It's 'worth' whatever somebody will pay for it. As hornbrod said, we need pics to provide any relevant answers. Where are you located anyways?
  2. I'm 2drx4 on there, and a few other places :waving:
  3. So, I was reading this home generator thread on Garagejournal, and thinking 'Jeeze, this is a hell of a deja-vu.'
  4. Really? I've never heard of that happening. But it's rare for anyone around here to have large snakes. Most people might have a little rubber boa, and that's about it. With animals in general, it's the keeper that is the potential issue. Lots of breeds of dogs get a bad rap, and while some of it may be because of instinct that is not bread out, most of it is because they were improperly trained/handled/socialized.

Oh! Things have changed since I've been gone :rotf:

thanks Pete Is that what you wanted to know? I think this could be stickied as "How not to ask a question." :rotf:
  7. What are you using for the conversion? I've got a 7000W import 'special' that I would like to convert; it's a Honda clone but they didn't do a good job of cloning the carb, and I hate leaving it with gas in it to use it 4 times a year.
  8. Why do they want to ban them?
  9. I thought it might be. Vented crawl spaces aren't too normal this far north. Crawl spaces are a bit of a grey area anyways, seems people have a lot of different ideas on venting. I have to agree. I see no reason for it, and would go as far as to say that it's potentially a danger.
  10. What comes out of the vent below there? If it is a vent... I'd agree that normally heat is the only thing that really damages this stuff. Another thing that can, but is highly unlikely, is chemicals... But unless you're running a meth lab in your basement I doubt that's an issue. Seems strange. Is there anything on the inside of that wall, manifold for floor radiant heat, a big electrical panel, or something else that could be screwed up and making a bunch of heat?
  11. You'll need to make a fairly large plate for it to mount to, since it is large, and it mounts on the front (doubles to mount the fairlead). Not specific to a MJ/XJ, but this is how I built a bumper that would mount one for my GMC thing. Image Not Found I had a piece of 3/8" mild bent to make the angle, since the dimensions of it wind up being the same as 3x10 angle, IIRC, which is hard to find. I milled the hole for the cable to pass through (angle grinder would do), and used the mill to drill the mounting holes for the winch's feet. Then I welded two pieces of 1/2" plate to the sides that attach to the frame rails (same idea on a MJ), and put the shackle holes through them. Finished product wound up something like this: Image Not Found On a MJ/XJ I'd mount it as far back as possible, cut out the header panel as needed, and if you rake the winch forwards a bit (like I did on this one) you won't have to butcher the header panel as much. Otherwise it will stick out like crazy.
  12. X2, I would be fairly certain that this is what they're after.
  13. Good to see you're still around! Yeah, still fixing choppers, it's been busy, and looks like it's going to be really busy this year. We've already got as much work booked as we reasonably can take on.
  14. mortgage payment on this house is $415.01/month  And that gets me 1900sqft and .54 of an acre. lol i realize were in different countries but i get half the sq footage at twice the price, but its mine Rates are really low right now, and I'd been saving for 3 years to buy a house, but never worked up the courage till now :rotf: So I had a chunk of money to put down. Also, there's some good deals to be had if you catch the right break. This one has been listed for 120 days without much interest at all, and certainly not an offer, so they were happy when I was even willing to play ball.
  15. Pictures I took for the insurance. She's a '64 model, so she's not exactly perfect anymore, but the yard is nice and mostly private (only one neighbour, and there's most of a green break between us, might consider a fence). Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Sorry, my finger kinda wound up in a few of them, I was using my phone and I never take pictures with it :ack: Edit, 'Rick' looks like he's taking a leak in the last picture too! But he's not. Next MJ... Hmm. I don't know. Now that I have some space I'll be watching Craigslist and Kijiji. I could use a nice driver, then I could park my Chevy/Duramax for a while (it's a little overdue for a servicing). Cost to run either of them around town is probably about the same. I might even *gasp* consider a 4cyl. Probably should get my shop built and equipped before I start collecting though!
  16. At least you had some success! Although I imagine the driveway has absolutely zero exposed surface area now? :D
  17. Thanks! It's fairly ridiculous, I rent a crappy room for $500/month, plus I had been renting a shop for $300/month on top of that, mortgage payment on this house is $415.01/month  And that gets me 1900sqft and .54 of an acre. Sure, I'm going to sink some money into the place to build a shop and make the house a little nicer, but at least it's mine and hopefully it won't ever be worth less than it is now :clapping:
  18. I don't know when the last time I dropped in was... So, I figured I'd pop by and say Hi. I sold my Comanche last year, I might have stopped in when I did, I honestly don't remember. It was too bad, but I was never going to get back to working on it :( Unfortunately I don't know if I people I sold it to will do much with it either. They had big dreams to compete in Highriders (an Alberta competition that's fairly relaxed) with my chassis. Anyways, moving forwards with my life I finally bought a house. If everything goes as planned I get possession on Feb 3rd. No shop, but it wasn't expensive and there's space to build one! So, hopefully I'll get my recreational life back on track and maybe I'll be back to contribute something to this forum again. So, hello everybody :wavey: What have I missed? Juicy gossip? Did Pete's neighbours make him get rid of all of his 'extra' MJs? Who is still around?
  19. Most likely. Stock gasoline engines see little (almost zero) gains to computer trickery. There just isn't anything else to get out of them. It's not a diesel.
  20. Really sorry to hear. Do what you can, work hard, and you'll come out on top. It's not a battle I'd ever want to be in, but I've seen it. Hang in there, eventually you'll get to an awkward truce.
  21. Unless it isn't like BC, it's not the RCMP 'roadside' inspection. He needs to go to a shop that is approved to do out of province inspections, pay about $100, then pay about $100 to have the stupid 'problems' fixed, then he is given a letter saying it's a pass and that goes with you for when you get insurance. If you can find a honest shop, you won't have any BS 'problems'. Good luck.
  22. Bullshiot. Unless you have a 2.5L. The 4.oh has a nice flat torque curve, so gearing is NOT a huge deal regardless. Besides, you can ALWAYS gear down. Some people don't seem to understand that you can't just hold a hill in 5th because you want to. You might lose a few tenths in the quarter to a regear, but it's really not that big of a deal.
  23. You know that black electrician's tape? It works great for fixing problems like that.
  24. And 8 out the door today... Maybe a few more as they come back from tour. Anyways, I wasn't one of them 8) But I can't say that any of the guys who went weren't my friends :( Hopefully that's all they will do for the winter...
  25. There is no such thing as a "cheeper but tough" diff cover. The bling bling Mr. Gasket chrome ones aren't inexpensive, but they are junk compared to an OEM cover. The heavy-duty, off-road capable covers you can bounce off rocks are NOT cheap, and if you find one that IS cheap ... you probably don't really want to buy it. My Mr Gasket suggestion was a joke. I hope nobody actually buys those things. The 'solid' ones at $65 are a bargain.. But if you want a ruffstuff cover I think the discount code is PBB or PBB10 or something for 10% off (a guy could search pirate to confirm that). Not cheap, but life generally isn't.
