Very true but it just seems to be more common on comanches than most other vehicles from the same era
-
Is the E brake cable on comanches known for breaking? If it is does any one know the reason why? Reason i ask is because I've heard from a few people that the brake cables in their mj's (the one that goes into the cab and hooks up to the pedal assembly ) were broken when they bought it or broke during their time owning it.

You're welcome, you can also use ATF like jpnjim said it has a lot of detergents and works really good to free up gummed up lifters try half a quart if you decide to try it.

Don't mean to sound like a smart @$$ but read the label it will give you all the details, don't be afraid if you pour a little more than they recommend you won't hurt anything.

Are you getting a good spark at the spark plugs? do you have compression? as far as testing the CPS signal to the ECM you will need a wiring diagram and back probe the " return" A/C signal from the CPS to the ECM at the ECM connection. Then you can see if you have a 4.5 to 5 volt reference to the CPS at the CPS connection ( sorry I don't have the wire color/locations for this) IIRC there was a campaign/recall that bypassed the fuel injection harness and connected the CPS directly to the ECM for a cleaner signal, I did this on my Comanche and it was very quick and easy,if you plan on doing this make sure you use a grommet to run the wires through the firewall and a good water proof connection. -
I had the same exact issue and used it (marvel mystery oil) about a year ago , problem is still fixed to this day. I use it in my gas tank to . :MJ 1: .

I plan on taking my comanche all over as soon as I get a chance, worst road trip experience I've ever had was the ride back home on this years Vegas vacation,,,, it was only because I took a 1.75ml bottle of Bulleit Rye to last me 3 days and well enough said :ack: .

Getting water in my cab, need help please
big66440 replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
SOLVED!!!! I popped my hood and poured water on some suspicious places and it turns out my leak is coming from where the A/C expansion valve and vacuum lines go through the fire wall, that foam seal/gasket dried up and it was letting water leak through. I already ordered my cowl hood seal from Amazon ( Mopar part number 55235178AB if anyone's interested) but now I have to look for a solution for that foam seal on the fire wall. -

I watered the truck with my water hose last night when I got home from work for quite some time and didn't see a single drop inside the cab :hmm: and no sign of a leakage ANYWHERE !!! and on top of that I pulled my carpet back and found I already had a hole about 3/8" in diameter on the floor pan :fs1:. -

Getting water in my cab, need help please
big66440 replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm wondering if I can put tape around the windshield and like yxmj said have someone hose the outside to eliminate the windshield as the cause, I really don't want to take it back and have them redo it,but I guess if I have to I will. -

big66440 replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I thought all they used to seal them was that glue? at least for our MJ's I've read the newer XJ's have a seal but you have to eliminate the trim :dunno: -
We had a storm last night here in So Cal and woke up with a small puddle of water on my passenger side floor and the driver side was damp, I just had the windshield replaced about 2 weeks ago by a reputable shop and it used to leak A LOT worse before I replaced it. I checked the grommet for my antenna and its fine also, can anyone help my out with this? I'm planning on removing the grill on the cowl and replacing the wiper bushings on it this weekend is there anything I should double check while I'm there? any help is really appreciated thank you guys.

Anyone have window visors on your MJ?
big66440 replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah I plan on upgrading to the 97 and newer doors later on which is the reason I really don't want to keep throwing money at my current doors ( the manual window regulators are also somewhat shot, I can't roll both of my windows all the way down) my comanche is my daily driver and I've read you have to modify the door latch when you upgrade the doors and since I don't have a welder I don't really want to risk not being able to finish the swap and not have my truck. -
Anyone have window visors on your MJ?
big66440 replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They leak towards the bottom corner of the vent window, the 90 degree angle part,,,, guess some more weatherstrip silicone is gonna be needed :shake: thanks for sharing that Hornbrod I was really hoping they would quiet my cab down a bit on the freeway. -
I was wondering if anyone is running window visors on your MJ? my driver and passenger windows leak water and make A LOT of wind noise, I've replaced most of the weatherstripping and sealed the "smoker windows" with silicone but can't get a good seal, I figured a 30.00 set of those window vents would help with both issues what do you guys think?

UPGRADED front end/steering components

And rockauto lists the same part numbers for the 89 MJ as well as for the 94-98 ZJ's :hmm: I would rather go pull one from the J.Y and match the alpha code to be 100% sure you're getting the quick ratio box. -
After being a tech for a while and seeing the mess Ford made in the engine compartments of the Ranger I swore myself to never own a Ford product, still not nearly as terrible as the GM 2.2 in S10/ Sonoma pick ups but still a head ache , not just because I'm a hardcore Mopar fan but working on a comparable Dakota was actually enjoyable,,, hope you get the MJ you want.

'68 Plymouth Barracuda Notchback
big66440 replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Those are some really cool projects  , my oldest brother used to have a 67 notchback, 318/904, 8.25 it was a really cool car and it ran really well for a little 318. Sucks what happened at the shop I'm sorry to hear you had to go through that, I'm not really sure if you know but there's a Mopar forum specifically for Mopar A bodies its called forabodiesonly.com you should check it out. -

If I remember correctly you have to just pull on it, its got a "ball socket" that just needs to be popped off similar to the one on the throttle linkage. -

does it matter what year its from? It doesn't matter what year or model as long as it is a ZJ. Yes it does. Some of the early 92 models did not have the 12.7 quick ratio steering. To be sure, get one from any 93-98 model. Engine does not matter. Sounds interesting, so ALL 93-98 ZJ's will have the quicker steering? is this a true bolt in without any mods ? or is it like installing the durango box? in which you have to modify it a bit.
