so I called most of the local JYs today.. none of them have an AX-15, however one of the people I spoke to said not to buy JY ax15 and just get a remaned or a new one... what are your thoughts? Would a JY tranny be fine? what should I look for when I go to get one (aside form driving 100 miles round trip just to find out it was a 2wd tranny and not the listed 4wd.. again) I did find a AX15 4wd, hopefully, but it is 100 miles away... one way... any other tips or something to look for would be great. Thanks

will any jeep ax15 bell housing mount to my 1988 4.0? I am doing the BA10 to AX15 swap.. and what type of bell housing should i get? (i know one with an external slave would be the best rout.) but my mec. was saying something about the Crank shaft sensor being in a different spot from the BA10.. My predictions I told him about the BA10 where correct.. He did not believe me when i said that it most likely broke and that it would cost an arm and a leg to rebuild.

well, after work I might play xbox, or watch netflix on the PS3, I have been playing Total War: Rome on the PC while I watch netflix... I also have a tendency to watch recorded TV on my computer while I play the XBOX or PS3.. Punkbuster does not like my ISO of BF2... I have the disk its just simpler to use the ISO..

I have BF2, hardly play it know that I work full time, and have 3 Jeeps... lol

our Beagle named Chaos, (pictured to the left) is one spoiled little pup that is addicted to chicken... and knows that then the chairs at the table move its time to eat! He eats about as well as us. It is cheaper to get a chicken from walmart cook it and be able to feed him for a month for about 75 cents per day.

problems... clutch or tranny or other
Blue88Comanche replied to akamcbird's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my guess would be to check your clutch for excessive ware. it could be its time to replace it.. but I am sure there are other reasons that someone will point out -

the light unit is in the same manner as the factory lights, so unless you can find a LED version of the bulb you may need to hack something in to make it work -
Factory Brush Guard Mounts?
Blue88Comanche replied to neohic's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my WARN Trans4mer Grille Guard attaches to the bumper mount... there are some spacers between the bumper bracket and the frame. I know its not a very good pic but it all i have at the moment. hope that helps edit: I think I saw some tow hooks online somewhere that did mount in the same spot -
gauge cluster and quick connects
Blue88Comanche replied to coon.hunter_21's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i guess it would be coolant temp not oil.. should have thought just a bit more :shake: -
my tranny broke, a/c leaks (and is thus useless for Alabama summer), doors leak, and the pressure bottle leaks.. does that count as "high maintenance".. if so then I feel your pain..

gauge cluster and quick connects
Blue88Comanche replied to coon.hunter_21's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It will not be 100% plug and play.. you will need to swap out the sending units for oil temp and pressure. other than that just plug in the now cluster... also if the plastic is blue on your cluster you need to go for another blue one, same goes for white. in 1990 or 1991 (can't remember what year) they swapped to electronic speedometer -

Like learn how to ^&$)ing spell, especially when the name of what you're selling is BADGED ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. Also, picture or I don't care. Most things can be sold by just a description, but if you're selling a vehicle, put up a freaking picture. :agree:

turbo charging a 4.0
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well i was looking into a engine for my Red Comanche, I was going to get a re-maned engine V8 :brows: or a bored and stroked I6.. not really sure yet.. red does not have an engine right now so might as wall get a "new" one The turbo thing i haven't seen many on our jeeps and was wondering if one of us has done it -
I did some searching on CC and could not find anyone that turbo charged a 4.0.. I know some people say is would not be ideal for a 4wd for off road use, but for street use i think it would do great for some extra go.. has anyone done or heard of someone doing that? and would the engine computer need to be "updated"? Just a thought thanks

I got a phone call from the Mechanic telling me the "bad news" about my BA10 tranny... the input shaft broke and damaged some clutch parts with it... ...So i started looking for an AX-15, and the parts required for the swap... I now have 2 Comanches I can't drive... one with an engine, but no tranny, one with a tranny but no engine... and no i am not moving the engine to red, and reds tranny is an auto 2wd and i don't have the drive shaft... so no quick fix

...when you tell your mechanic your BA10/5 has a tendency to brake, he says it is something else, only to find that you where correct...
