  1. Jim your like the man when it comes to helping ppl out and providing the research for self help. That's because Jim has Rainman like memory and has memorized all 113,432 posts on ComancheClub.com. Here's to you Jimbone
  2. The sensor that turns your electric fan on at 217* is screwed into the radiator on a 87-90 4.0.
  3. Went out when I got home from work and tried starting the MJ. As always -- started right up. But ... get this - ALL those diagrams of which relay is which are either wrong, or my MJ is wrong. Having found two conflicting diagrams and descriptions, I took the cowards way out and pulled all four relays, then stuck them back one-by-one until I heard the fuel pump run when I first turned the key. The one that got the fuel pump running was the one all the way to the front. I'll have to do the same thing on the '88 XJ in the morning, after it has had time to bleed off the pressure. That's strange. Mine was where the diagram shows. The only differnce is mine is an auto.
  4. I used Tide, a broom and a garden hose on my driveway. But my driveway's not concrete and the Tide was the powder, not the liquid. Anyway it worked great and smells April fresh. :D Only problem is that the grass along my driveway is now dead and smells like ATF
  5. This is actually a copy of my MJ project question but I thought I'd post it here too to see if get an answer. Here it is. Bloody hell, The waterpump was leaking.....somewhere. Problem was it only did it while running and of course it was somewhere underneath the pulley. So.....off with the whole front end of the truck again. All was smooth until I went to take off one of the waterpump bolts and the head snapped off. Luckily there was just enough bolt sticking out of the engine that I grabeed on with vice-grips and got it out. Bought another waterpump just to make sure the one I have wasn't defective. In the meantime I stuck a garden hose up to the small hole above and to the left of the hole for the impeller and shot water thru there to try and clean out any more gunk. All was clear and I let it sit till today but when I went out the once clear water was murky brown ( I thought it was oil in my water at first but upon closer inspection found that the "brown" wasn't really brown, more of an orangish and it was settled at the bottom. So I have a good amount of rust in the engine. 1)Is this normal? 2)Should I run more water thru it and try to remove as much as possible or leave it since it will just keep rusting? 3)Freeze plugs were brought up. I see them on the driver's side of the block. Are there any on the other side? How do you remove them? And what are the chances of removing them with the engine still in the truck? 4)What are the chances of me removing them and screwing something else up? _________________

  7. I thought you needed tires?
  8. Yes it screws into the metal part of the kneeboard (I think that's what you call it) and it's right underneath the headlight switch.
  9. Are you talking on the engine side? I'll check I might have pinched some wires when I put the booster back in... I'm just about to run out of steam on this truck!!!! yep.
  10. Can you see all the underdash wiring from where you look? Mine did the same thing as all the wires burnt/melted together when I had my harness problem. Check all the wires by your fuse box under the dash and on the side of the engine bay. I'd make sure no wires got stripped, are touching and melting together like mine did.
  11. My truck had all kind of wobbles. Are all four rims straight? And I had bad vibes in the back because my rear shocks were crap.
  12. phillip
  13. Well, over the weekend I ran Prestone's flush thru the engine with water and the heater on full blast for about 4 hours. It sat in my driveway because I haven't put the front clip back on yet. Drained it out. Pulled the rad again. Changed the waterpump. Put them back on, filled the system back up. Ran a couple heatup/cooldown cycles and burped the system out of the back temp sender. (It didn't need it). Still no change in temp. I'm still running 215-225* I'm gonna button everything back up and run my electric fan on a switch to see if that will bring the temp down. MY REMINDER TO PUT A PIC HERE.
  14. The other thing is that the harnesses for the two companies might have differnt colors.
  15. Did you by any chance get a manual with the deck? I think your problem is that you need a constant power supply to the memory wire. Is there two power wires back ther right?
  16. Told YA :D Chico, how much did you sell the stereo for? :rotfl2: I didn't need to. Mine got stolen about a month ago, but I already got it back. Unfortunately, it's not usable anymore. If your truck's a five speed I'll tell you what happened. Some dumb white kid from Kessington figured it was an easy car to take for a joy ride, couldn't figure out how to shift a twenty year old truck because his parents are probably either crackheads or alchies and never taught the dip$#!& how to drive. So he gets four blocks away after bumping and grinding up the tranny, decides it would be faster to walk and takes the stereo so he can trade it in at the pawn shop to hit up the dollar menu at Micky Dee's. And if ya got an AW4 it's probably that your @$$ stinks and he couldn't take the smell inside so he used the $5 the pawn shop gave him to buy a bar of soap and some deodorant and got a shower for the first time in two weeks. All joking aside, I'm glad you got the truck back almost complete  Weird thing is if they took the toolbox they had help and I'm surprised they didn't take the rims and tires. All the better for you :D
  17. No, but then again it was winter, the temp outside was 40* or lower and since I drive around all year round with the windows down the heat was always on full blast so the temp would be kept down anyway.
  18. Nope. The factory t'stat only has the hole at 12:00 Well, then I'm oficially done replacing everything with the cooling system. I'm wiring up the electric fan this week to run on a switch.
  19. Back in the winter when I put a thermostat in because the PO wasn't running one and the truck wouldn't heat up and run like crap I put a 195* in and drilled a whole at the 12 o clock position only. You guys think it makes a differnce I didn't put one at the 6 o clock position?
  20. Rich I finally got the pump in tonight and ran it. I think it's leaking though. No change in temp. 215 to 230. I'm going to wire my electric fan on a switch this week. If that doesn't lower the temp I'm gonna let it run outta coolant and oil and drive it till it blows and catches fire. :D Just don't kick it... I did that once and was limping around for like a week! :jump: :rotfl2:
