Can somebody take a pic of where their exhaust mani meets the downpipe? I'm trying to see if the space in between mine is normal. I'll explain later. TIA
-
That's it. Everybody load up and move to SC.
-
Nope, you're not, but there hasn't been a great since Tupac kicked the bucket.
-
What are you guys a bunch of ninnies. A leaf spring quick disconnect is made so you can get MORE FLEX on those off camber trails. Even I know that and the farthest I've been offroad is parking on my front lawn instead of the driveway after drinking one too many cocktails. :rotfl2: The good news MV is now you have money to buy those tires to go with your 3" lift :D
-
ej, I got the cable at Autozone.
-
Not yet, I will probally pick one up next week when i stop at the auto parts store. I am hopefully getting my ball joints and axle u-joints done next week too. Sorry for the hi-jack. Actually Jim, we're not hi-jacking. I know almost everyone on this forum has a problem with hardstarting. I changed every sensor and "tune-up" part on my MJ. Nothing made a differnce. That is until I put a negative battery cable on that had a second wire running from the negative post of the battery to my fender for ground. My truck went from turning over 4-5 times before starting to starting instantly every single time. Maybe it was a fluke but I'd like to know if anyone else had a similar experience. I'll take a pic tommorow in the daylight to show you guys what I have.

Jim, did you ever get the negative battery cable with the extra body ground?

What is "blow by"? More newbie questions.
Chico replied to billyray's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Haven't figured that out yet. Right now I'm strapping my Big-Gulp to my Fire-Extinguisher which is buckled in with the seat belt on the passenger side of my bench seat. And I lied. I used NGK's........... I think......whatever Eagle used Bloody short-term memory loss  -
I can't believe that guy can talk that much at 200 MPH. That's gotta be an extremely smooth track and car. I've done 130 in a VW 140 in a BMW and had the pleasure of 150 in a Porshe sitting in the passenger seat. Every single time I thought I was gonna crap my pants. That vidoe gave me a panic attack. I'm going to go take an Adavan and a couple shots of Yager and try and calm myself down.

Motion Offroad leaf spring measurements.
Chico replied to mvusse's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Maybe this will help. Jeep tech note I.S. 14E explains how to check the ride height on a Comanche. They use the chassis and suspension not the hubs and flares. Front: ------ Measure vertical distance between top of axle tube (looks like just inboard of the LCA mount) to the under side of the frame rail. For the passenger side, measure from the axle tube just outboard of the vacuum disconnect housing. The book says for 2WD models the distance should be 6-3/4" +/- 1/2". For 4WD models the distance should be 7-3/4" +/- 1/2" Rear: ------ Measure from the top of the axle tube to the underside of the frame rail inboard of the rubber bump stop. For 2WD the distance should be 8.2" +/- 1/2". For 4WD models the distance should be 9.2" +/- 1/2" So there you have it. That's the official specs. This should be posted on the DIY forum. -
B, is that cable and housing or just cable?

For your truck, that is correct. But if you engage in exchanging posts with Chico, you will also most likely experience "blow by". :D Wahoo is correct. Especially if you sit on the tan couch in between us. Plugs: Plain Champions. Run a search and you'll see many arguments over what to use. Oil: I use Castrol high-mileage. Run a search and you'll see many arguments over what to use. Air Filter: Whatever is at the auto parts store. I don't think anybody has argued over this yet, so maybe we can start one now. DO NOT USE FRAM OIL FILTERS. I KEEP HAVING THIS PROBLEM THAT I GET OIL IN MINE :D WOW  A Comanche that only runs on three tires. -

Chico, Ebert's dead. Fat boring bastard that he was. Nice job. :chillin: Get the hell outta here  I guess next you're gonna tell me Bill Clinton isn't president anymore  -
It looks very nice, but I think the bastard went a little too heavy on the armorall on the dash.

Hey Jt, quick question. Was the one you bought from Advance the correct width, because the one I got from Autozone was too skinny and too long? And actually, Taz do you guys sell one still with the housing because mine is now jacked?

Changing exhaust manifold - drain coolant?
Chico replied to bobweiser's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Wait Bob, let me re-write that so nobody makes a mistake and uses an orbital sander with 80 grit sandpaper. I used a right angle die grinder with a 3M 2 inch surface prep disc to clean the mating surface. Not only is it a lot cleaner but it takes a whole minute and 30 seconds compared to the half an hour with a razor blade. Oh and your gonna need a torque wrench and your gonna need to follow the tightening sequence for the exhaust mani gasket that Alldata gives you. -
Changing exhaust manifold - drain coolant?
Chico replied to bobweiser's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah, but you know what, since nothing goes on the gasket I used a sanding wheel on an aircompressor. Cleans up nice and it ended up perfectly smooth. I went with the gasket remover and razor blade when I did my water pump and it ended up leaking the first time cause I didn't do a good enough job. Took the sander to it the next time and perfection. -
BBBBUUUUUUDDDDGGGGEEETTTTTT......... :D I seriously need to get off this site. I'm starting to see multiple letters.
