I called it a combination off all 3 I mentioned when it stranded me 15 miles down a jeep trail and I had to walk back to camp, grab my pretty rig and 2 other hunters I met the night before to recover it. hooked the ford up to be the brakes, then pulled it up a shale trail somehow, at the top I asked my new friend if he was comfortable stump jumping it the next 6 miles of downhill winding rolling hills with no power brakes and dimming headlights . of course he obliged since it wasn't his lol. so, my heep has earned lots of fowl names but I still love it most of the time. well figured as much... and I'm just giving you crap because if you actully looked at the directions, or what comes with the kit, you'd see there are no gussets other than the hitch plate... it's a solid bumper in my opnion, I wish it stuck out another 1.5/2" for a more sure footed step, and I had planned extending the sides to protect the quater panel, tieing into the unibody. but I'm lazy and have now crunched the lower part of the bed from crawling up an obstacle. I'll quit muddying up Trail hawks thread now Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -

nope not kidding you. clearly all thats on the INSIDE (not backside and outside like you described) are the mounting plates, and hitch.... and the pdf shows perfect examples of what it'll look like. so, I'm curiouse as to what's so appealing to the inside of a bumper that you can't picture since it's not all about the mounting lol Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -

well.....dunno why you can't visualize 2 mounting brackets and a hitch plate on the backside but I'll give you a hint since you apparently didn't think of it. go to the website and download the pdf instructions and it's shows ya what it'll look like and even how to assemble lol pretty straight forward, I chose to radius my shackle mounts for a cleaner look and have some dom tubing go thru the unibody for hopefully a little more reinforcement on the mounting Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
Comanche Trailhawk: DD and Mild Wheeler

I stripped down a spare harness and will shortly be redoing mine. Currently I have a trailer brake setup (po did it) with some resistors inline. 2 times I've had the resistors burn out and lost brake lights. with my lights on, blinker then brake I get hyperflash. the route I plan to do will be to run an extra wire to either the brake or running lights and probly have running ontop and brake lower. that's just an idea from a quick read a while back, and I'll have to figure it out once I get going on it. what's your reason for not wanting to wire into the multi switch? it's that time of year again where it's dark way to early. my daily is still in the shop, and I did a projector retrofit last year on it, the output is amazing without blinding oncoming rigs on low beam. I bought a kit to do in the comanche but came to the conclusion it would perform great but just wouldn't look right aestically. I've been running IPF glass and Osram 55/60 bulbs for about 4 years. it was an upgrade but still lacking. recently I bought a headlight harness kit to run directly from the battery and that helped immensley. Buuttttt...... I'm the type that is never satisfied. https://m.ebay.com/itm/CERAMIC-H4-HEADLIGHT-RELAY-WIRING-HARNESS-2-HEADLAMP-LIGHT-BULB-SOCKET-PLUGS-7/330997592807?epid=4006343433&hash=item4d10fe72e7:g:474AAOSwEK9Trseb for the time being, since this mostly stays offroad I'm running Hella 80/100w bulbs. I have some 65/70 Volsa +100 being shipped to me, and I have one more set I might try after that which are high powered and street legal. all of these are shot at the same exposure, aperature and iso. this pics are a little brighter than in person. Osram 60/55, to defend it a little it's is about 4 years old but little use. I don't like the blue tint on the bulb. 2nd is Hella 100/80 Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

look up sound deadner showdown, lots if great info. I've done the CLD tiles that are for damping vibration harmonics in the panels, and tomorrow my MLV from amazon comes in, I'll be doing 1/8 closed cell foam since it's just used as a decoupler. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Fuel System Leakdown Test: FAIL and FIX
cody4359 replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I suspect I have leaky injector orings. when the truck sits for a few hrs to a day, it'll crank a couple seconds before firing. my remedy, and I'm curiouse if you tried, is to turn the ignition on til the fuel pump shuts off, turn off, then fire it up. seems to work til I get around to fixing it. good idea on the check valve Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
Basic Tune Up Cost 4.0L
cody4359 replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
X2 make him do it. buy a Chiltons if he can't figure out lefty loosey right tighty. it's an old jeep, gonna have to break out the tools often or learn that jeep stands for Just Empty Every Pocket, and in that case if you have to ask the internet how much a tuneup cost from people who don't live in your area, that's off to a bad start Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
i am redoing the harness in my Heep, and had a few wires I wanted to pull out, but possibly keep for future accesories. i couldn't find anything online so spent some time and learned a bit. this is from a 2000 xj manual and is correct for my 1999. the 1997 manual had the c200 connector the opposite direction and the wire colors weren't jiving, so be aware this is for a 99+ Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

4.0L HO Header Fitment Issue
cody4359 replied to kryptronic's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a banks torque tube, about 9 years old. definatley gave a little seat of the pants low end increase and makes the exhaust a bit deeper sounding. if you keep it on the same rig, you have their warranty too if by chance it does crack down the road. a long tube header would be worth looking into imo Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
thinking it's an aftermarket one since it says luverne or something like that. came off my mj years ago Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

comanche leak/missing cover?
cody4359 replied to waffleman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've been missing that cover for nearly 6 years, it's not a dd but I goes in the mud and snow. Finally got a cover about 3 mo that ago and still haven't out it on. rear main seals are a bit of a pain, the worst part is getting the oil pan out from under a near stock height rig. remove starter, track bar, drag link and disconnect yhe sway bar then jack as high as you can go Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
still have the visor? I'm local to you Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
