Runnin Rusty's airtube
offroader461 replied to WyoCherokee's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i run an Airaid filter on a intake tube similar to rusty's...i like it it improved mileage a tad..maybe 1mpg....i had a K&N and will never run them again...they filter like crap! don't waste your money -
Yea you don't need the 4th bolt but the reason a lot of XJ guys do it is b/c the added support and the YJ box is a fixed ratio instead of a varible ratio box
-
incorrect..you can use a YJ box but you will need to get this http://www.tntcustoms.com/page.asp?pageid=58 i helped my buddy install one last weekend with this kit and it was smooth..i might be doing it soon also

A d35 is a d35....a giant turd...don't waste your time...get an 8.8 if you really have a need for disks...you can pick one up for anywhere between $150-300 -
i know i hate them and don't use them anyways...plus the window guides are part of them :fs1:
-
I have been tossing around the idea of swapping to the +97 up doors to replace my doors on the 87...benifits for me: 1. Added security (eliminating vent windows) 2. don't have to replace the window guides (22 year old rubber..nuf said) 3. Will fix my window problem on the passenger side (crank assembly is old) 4. can get them for bout $100 for both doors complete with mirrors, panels etc. 5. Door pins will be fixed...d/s on my truck is gone :fs1: The only problem is that the strikers are different but i have read alot about easy modifications on them...Opinions/Suggestions always welcomed

My 9 Year Build So Far.......
offroader461 replied to jpnjim's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
you don't by chance have a pic of the way you adapted the door strikers for the '01 doors?? Looks awesome also!!! -
its actually very simple to make them work...i did it with no problem..here's what i did.. I took the mounting brackets off the XJ buckets by drilling out the rivits so the XJ floor mounting brackets were gone...did the same thing with the floor brackets off my donor bench seat by also drilling out the rivits and then took the MJ floor brackets and using some small nuts and bolts just mounted the MJ floor brackets onto the XJ sliders in the same spot the old XJ brackets were and then put the sliders back onto the seats and bolted them in..SIMPLE and easy

mine are glasswerks

D30's are a good front axle...they can handle 35's with no problem...just upgrade the u-joints in the front to the bigger ones and call it good
-
Dang haven't see your rig in a while, I like that right there, that looks good with the Wagoneer clip  Yea I'm happy now i can actually drive it without it puking oil from the headgasket

Whats the Biggest XJ MJ spring Out there???
offroader461 replied to Pollockzrodz's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
if your talking front springs...skyjacker makes some 8" coils and rustys has some 9" coils -
it WILL NOT work with a renix throttle body which is what you have...the TJ intake will only work with a H.O. throttle body...so unless you swap the thottle body it won't work...it doesnt matter if its an Auto or Manual
-
No the TJ uses a HO throttle body and the 89 is a renix throttle body...the intakes on a HO slip over and uses a clamp to hold them down...the renix uses 3 hex head bolts to hold the intake tubes down..you can make it work but its difficult

I'm living your dream :D Build sheet says NV3550, but it's a 94 XJ. which I believe means AX15. Yea thats gotta be a mistake...i don't believe the NV3550 came out till '99
-
could but its pointless to swap the harness....everything should be there for both M/T and A/T...i know my MJ has the wiring to put an A/T in if i choose to..its just all tucked away...even the wiring harness for the TCU
-
I have the original one still in my truck...had 195K on it b4 it took a dump and that was due to a leak i never fixed...had it rebuilt for $600 bucks and still running it today...has 206K on it now and i run Full Synthetic gear oil and it shifts like butter....
