  1. mine in my XJ does the same thing when the key doesnt release all they way back....does you radio work? if it does then you might have a short in the CTS wiring somewhere.
  2. yea ordered this way when he purchased it...did not want the 5spd b/c it was extra $ and it was only going to be a ranch truck so he didnt need the extra gear...when my buddy got it we pulled everything out for a rebuild (motor and trans) and i know what an AX4 looked like and it was not one...so we found the build sheet and associated paperwork only to find out it was a T-4...total surprise to me but its a factory deal
  3. i have read it on a Jeep tech site that the borg-warner t/4 and t/5 were used in the 86 comanches....and as a matter of fact the 86 cherokees as well my buddy has a T-5 in his 86 cherokee and i have had the pleasure of seeing it first hand because we had to pull it out...his jeep is totally stock other than suspension 86 XJ 4x4 w/ 2.8 T-5 Np207 also another buddy has an 86 MJ 2wd with a 2.8 T-4 with 3.54's from the factory and i know this b/c he has the original build sheet...his dad had the truck ordered that way from the factory back in 1986..his vin number states the same thing as JEEPCOMJ's does...just states its a 4spd trans, no specific tranny...but the buildsheet he has confirmed what i had thought so I'm my experience i have seen in the 86 models the AX4, AX5, T-4 and T-5
  4. its a 36MM socket you can get from autozone...yea that pretty much means that the unit bearing or wheel bearing is toast...i would check the wheel bearings first then check the back of the unit bearing and see if its grinding...if so just replace it with a new one...can't be rebuilt..either a J/Y replacement or buy new
  5. no the bearings have a rubber ring that seals them off and my ring was partially missing...
  6. i put a flowmaster 40 on my MJ...take a listen....its in my project page somewhere..thats what i recommend
  7. Mine was started doing that one day and it kept getting worse...so i limped home and jacked it up and found out my Pass side unit bearing assembly bearing were bad...replaced both sides and it solved my problems
  8. don't feel bad...i have done it several times...once at work...fortunately i have a spare set at home and my g/f brings them to me :D
  9. I have the complete V8 ZJ steering i bought new from a buddy...only cost me $120.00 for everything...very good setup and i plan on doing it to my XJ as well
  10. i had the same problem....drove home and got out only to smell gas...popped the hood and injector 5-6 were leaking...so i replaced the o-rings and then found the regulator was bad now...so i go to replace it and the retarded p/o jb-welded it on...so i was off to find a new one...got the new fuel rail and everything was good... now i run refurbished 5.0 injectors with new o-rings and i have no leaks
  11. yea I'm not surprised to find out thats a rustys bar...i would NEVER buy one...i got my RockKrawler adj. bar and HD bracket for about $125..i suggest looking into a new bar and sell that rustys one
  12. 86 Toyota 4x4...had for 3yrs...totaled it 1/2 mile from my house... insurance money paid for the MJ had the yota for another 1 1/2yrs before i decided to let it go...was going to solid axle and put a 302 V8 in...wasnt worth rebuilding the entire truck
  13. looks and sounds solid...id be interested
  14. I'm kinda 50/50 on buying from them...bought an entire 95 clip and it didnt fit for crap on my jeep...then bought a 97 clip and it went on better....I'm about 50% on things that i get fitting on the truck if ya know what i mean
  15. the tilt problem is going to be fun for ya to tackle...i had the same problem and it took me half the day to do it...there is 4 bolt way down the column that have to be loctied and put back in...ill try to find the page i followed
  16. i picked up everything that i got for about $150 including: grill, header panel, headlight buckets, all the lenses (turn and parking), and fenders....everything but the fenders was Brand NEW try certifit....I'm 50/50 on buying parts from them
  17. you don't need the harness...the headlights are the same..just on the opposite side...the parking light you can modify the bulb holder...and the turn signal just pops in...the pre97 has 1 turn signal bulb..the 97 and up has two...i just ran the 1 and it was fine
  18. my buddy ran into the same problem when he did his SOA...he used 2wd metric ton springs and it ended up being like 8-9" of lift...
  19. certi-fit sucks....i bought a replacement header panel and it didnt fit worth a crap...nothing lined up and the little studs at the top were missing
  20. be better off just buying them...i tried to make them and just said piss on it and bought a set...much easier
  21. yup it will....sucks to put it in but yea it will work....i have the 96 pedel assembly in my 87
  22. i have both drivers and passenger side 2dr of my parts heep....shipping would kill though
  23. ok sweet..lemme know about that...I have a 5spd so i don't have a TCU but i still would need to fab up that little widget
  24. i'll second that motion WOW...i 3rd that one...
  25. Well my 87 MJ has a slight head gasket leak so i will need to pull it off anyways...i have a 92 H.O. motor with everything including the computer and harness if i need it, that i pull everything necessary to do the swap...question is should I? I plan to swap: -H.O. head, valve cover -Intake and T/B -Exhaust manifold or header The only hang up would be the TPS but i can make something or splice wires to make it work correctly Opinions and Suggestions Appreciated!!! :D
