offroader461 replied to offroader461's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yea i was HOPING it wasnt that...motor only has 25K on it if that...i know its not the V/C because i cleaned that side of the motor off and then drove it and it clean above the head but not below it -
Hey all..well my MJ has been down for suspension mods and interior restoration for the past 2 months..well i FINALLY got it on the road yesterday and it was awesome to drive her again...well i have an oil leak now.. its coming from the Passenger side of the block from between the head and block...its not the dipstick tube, oil sending unit, distributor, valve cover or the oil filter adapter as i have already reaplaced or resealed all of these items previously...now the leak was slight b4 i started working on the truck but now it worse...any suggestions on to what it is?

Hole in throttle body
offroader461 replied to aerocorey's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i don't recall anything going in there but a dummy plug...both of my jeeps (87MJ and 90XJ) have nothing but a "plug" in them to prevent a vacuum leak -
Lift & Tire Question/Opnions
offroader461 replied to Comanche Devil's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My MJ as of right now has a RC 3" AAL and some daystar shackles and it netted me 4.5"...my front is sitting at 5" so i plan a SOA here soon I'm running 32*11.5*R15 BFG A/T on 15*8 RockCrawler rims with 3.75 B/S...no rubbing problems anywhere -
Thats most likley been painted green...i have only seen chrome or black until the newer model came out and some of them have paint matching bumpers

99+ Open Cooling System Mod
offroader461 replied to rubiconron's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
here's what i have done twice with absolutley no problems, I used all 96 parts...runs cooler than before...i recommend it: 87 MJ: swapped a 3 row open style rad newer heater valve Flow Kooler water pump used a normal thermo housing (for the 87) replaced the overflow tank hoses new 90 XJ: swapped in a 3 row aluminum open rad replaced water pump with flow kooler high flow thermo housing off newer 97 cherokee(just plugged the temp port) Hoses new replaced heater valve new overflow tank The MJ is a 5spd but the rad has ports for A/T lines and the thermoswitch for the fan..my fan is run off a switch in the truck and i never use it...on the XJ its a AW4 and the rad also had the trans cooler lines and the thermoswitch fitting in the radiator which i use an it works as it should You don't necessarily have to change everything over just the radiator, overflow tank (or get a universal) and the heater valve..pretty much all i "swapped in" -

offroader461 replied to 603Redneck's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs

offroader461 replied to 603Redneck's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
you take the 2 sets of numbers and divide them and you get your gear ratio....39 divided by 11 is 3.55 -

offroader461 replied to 603Redneck's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
More than likely a D35 and it should have 3.55...39/11=3.54 -
Making XJ buckets work in a MJ
offroader461 replied to mfpdm's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
yup thats all i did....removed the MJ pedistals and did the same on the XJ seats and just swapped them...easy as pie -
87 MJ: 4.0 5spd 6" lift 4.10's 33"............20-22MPG 90 XJ: 4.0 AW4 4" lift 3.55's 32"............18-19MPG

yea i know the feeling...it took us 9hrs to do the 3" kit the first time on the MJ....it was not fun... now the XJ i just put in 3" coils, LCA and shocks by myself and it took me only 1.5 hours... :D
