  1. FWIW - - - If it's not Factory/OEM/Dealer installed/WTF ever & something bad happens involving others, just look out - Exactly the kind of thing lawyers have wet dreams about - - Best to call your insurance agent - read policy fine print - Get something in writing concerning mods being covered & then rethink - - - Wish I didn't know this.

  6. Figured it out - - - When the world's gonna end - - - Was amazed a few weeks ago when stores & TV commercials started advertising Christmas stuff - - Xmas stuff in September! & then it came to me - - August, someday, will be the month for the yule tide shopping season to begin & then July - next the greed starts in June followed by May & so on - Earlier & earlier until January is reached & that's when it's all gonna come crashing down - - - - - Anyway, since it's already started - here's some less than $50 under the tree ideas for the garage: http://www.genuinehotrod.com/itemgroup/no-drip-grease-gun-holder?seid=ghhse1&gclid=CIKGq9rFgroCFbFDMgodQjYASg http://www.ebay.com/itm/190912312140 http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-PARK-ZONE-PRECISION-PARKING-ULTRASONIC-GARAGE-SENSOR-PZ-1100-/271288642615?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f2a102c37 Merrrrry Christmas, HFH
  7. Use your spare for the base - won't slide around or tip over - should be easy enuff to mod the pole holder using all thread/long bolts - easy to disassemble/store & be ready for next year - - - I'd fab the mount with a short, 3 ft or so, section of pipe for the FP to slide into - that way the flag & FP could be hauled to wherever flat & then a simple drop in for display
  8. If your aw4 is not leaking & has a drain plug I would not drop the pan - Just drain & refill, drive a few & repeat - Then drive a few more & repeat - - - You can also Google & find instructions with pics for undoing the lines going to the radiator, attaching extensions & then pumping/drawing from containers - - Works & sounds good but is kind of a pain, timewise mostly & also good to have a helper - - I have done this to 3 AW4 Toyotas & one Chrysler Town&Country - - My 87 MJ was taken to the local Chrysler/Jeep dealership shortly after purchase for a few things 2B done including AW4 servicing - - The bill was lower than quoted when I went to pay because (& this is when I learned) the AW4 has no band adjustment & the filter is basically just a screen that they said requires no service/cleaning - - When service time 4 my newly bought 89 MJ with a 1991 AW4 came around I compared amount of fluid required to pump/suck like I'd done B4 & amount required for the way easier drain & drive others were doing with nearly same fluid purity achieved - Decided on D&D & then considered the bright, clean looking & smelling appearance of the TF on my MJ's dipstick & the screen/filter thing - - Closed the hood & drove, paying close attention to anything unusual AW4wise, to the nearest service center displaying a Budweiser sign - - 2 yrs later no regrets/problems - fluid still looks good but only approx 5k driven since. Anyway, some thoughts from others: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/opinions-replacing-aw4-transmission-fluid-685974/ :wrench:

  13. Stumbled across this a couple years ago - - Sleazy eBay used car dealer had it - Thought I remembered seeing it inna Mecum KC auction - Did some deep Google research & found that it was a '06-'07 Speed Channel-Crusin' with E-Rider project - Solid no rust & then strip everthing out & then everthing new/rebuilt - Paint & bodywork, interior, engine, trans, AC, etc - All by local shops in the Dayton, Ohio area - - Next owner was hard on it/goofed up carb swap & a few other things - It went through Mecum for 3K & bidders premium - Then after 2 r 3 no/low bid go arounds on EB I drove to Iowa, Listened to the BS & drove it home for 2K & change - Wife drove it off the lot after handshake & $ handover - Then after paper work & I'm leaving, casually mentioned it's TV history - Jaw drop & WTF look was worth enduring his BS & thinking he had another sucker - - Left him logging onto a link detailing the Speed Chanel restore stuff - - - - - Anyway, drove it home to Missouri, 70-75mph mostly & a little over 31mpg wi no probs other'n Wife crabbin' about the speed - - - How it looked: Took out grey interior & put this in - Power windows from an Acclaim & Honda Civic console: Currently replacing grey headliner with maroon/burgundy material - Found basically NOS door panels & seats & a few other upgrades - MJ taking most of tinker time - . :MJ 1: .
  14. It's on: Currently having the interior refreshed - New carpet, head liner, '97+ XJ console & E Brake relocate - Hot weather slowing things - No AC in shop - Trying to avoid dehydration - Will probably face frostbite next - No heat in shop - - - - No plans for adding HVAC - Would cut into the hydration thing

  19. Won't do a thing for the odometer, but that's no biggie on most MJ/XLs - - - - - If you're happy/satisfied/done messin' with the drive line/tires & want an accurate & inexpensive fix/Speedo display - - - Note where the speedometer needle is pointing when doing a verified 50, 60, 70 or whatever mph - - note rpm - then photo shop or buy an overlay corrected to actual - - - - Doin' 75 & needle points at 70 for inst? - - Get/fab overlay matching your other gauges with numbers altered accordingly so needle now points to a 75 at same rpm - - Google & many custom jobbers - 1 r 2 here & on NAXJA as well IIRC - - - just sayin'

  23. Mice - Have dealt with them constantly over the years - part of farm living - Sure you know a vehicle or anything will be a target/preferred place once the scent thing is established - - Anyway, if you can't keep 'em out of the BB you might want to relocate the resistor pack - - Dunno - If it's just a 4 pin plug in should be easy enuff to get it outta the housing - I know this is a treating the symptoms instead of the disease approach - Curious that they haven't been chewing wires - Dunno, just sayin' - Care for some Gopher?
