PO probably used a few zip ties to hold pan in place during assembly, but that end onna inside makes no sense.

  9. Ginger or Mary Ann - - Whatever flips your bippy & all the other cliches concerning good looks - - - My near showroom, in & out, stock body 87 drew praise most times I drove it - The 2500 gets attention every time - - - Personally, I'm torn between the 97 & 2500 for looks - - Would prob go 97 if had to do over because of lesser noticeability - - I know the local LEOs pay attention to what's parked in front of my favorite tavern - No way to hide/blend in this MJ & I've seen their heads turn when I'm in town - probably on their top seven suspect list - No top ten - 7's about as high most of 'em can count - - - - - Anyway, here's some pics of the fender mod & build by a PO plus my truck as it looked 6/7 months ago - - - - Was gonna bid/buy the eBay grill just to have as a backup until I noticed the shipping - Not too many $500+ spares inna my shop - LOL - - BTW, Search is an excellent tool - easy enuff 2 use & gets easier after a few - - - Good Luck  Image Not Found Image Not Found
  10. Is power to the switch coming from the fixture? One of only a few in residential where a white lead will carry power - used to be required to have those ends painted black but hard telling when up against some DIYs & to rely on "white is ground the world around" is asking to get a tingle when reworking a PO's efforts - - Anyway, how many lamps in the fixture? - you can get 50v as well as other voltages from a 110 feed - center tap inna fixture wi bulbs wired in series for inst - - Kill the circuit - Disco the fixture from + & - then activate the circuit & ck voltage with ends still unconnected - should not see anything other'n 110 unless there's an ac transformer somewhere before the fixture - - - 50v AC almost gotta be multi lamp/fixture prob :hmm: afterthought: Also - - Need a little more info - Shoulda asked 1st - - Is a GFI part of the circuit? GF switch or outlet? Do you know if fixture is at end of the run or somewhere inna middle? Zoomed right by the bathroom location - - Sorry.
  11. It'll be close - I put XJ carpet in my '89 & '87 - - Both had/have buckets wi long consoles - made seams pretty easy to measure/figure/conceal - - :wrench:
  12. WOW - - Mil Spec Turbines!
  13. I've found Summit and Jegs hard to beat if there is no big hurry for the part - Both have online price match & both have superfast FedX/UPS delivery - Only dif is that Jegs is DIY online match while Summit is call the CS number & give the guy the info - - In this case Summit will match the eBay BigRedAutoParts $9.80 & Free S&H - Summit also beats a price by a small % & still sends the low $ orders FX/UPS - Jegs sells this item but not online - at least not listed on eBay - - One of the reasons I like the Fast Jegs/Summit delivery/price match thing is the $ it saves me in gas - 5-6 bucks typical round trip to nearest AutoVancedRiley -
  14. Sorry to hear this - Wish I didn't know the feeling - Lost mine 14 months ago & my Dad in '09 - - My sympathy to you and all others.
  15. Well, you're off to a good start in having joined this forum - - Tons of info & how to - A lot gospel, some pick your poison opinion type & a touch of misguided, urban legend & pure BS - 99.9% sincere, but you gotta learn to use SEARCH to get the most/best/easiest/ & so on - - Seems like some of the members having the most experteise & are the backbone of CC are going thru a little burnout dealing with ?s about everyday MJ issues such as electric & suspension - things that have been covered over n over while just the use of SEARCH, DIY & PROJECTS will getcha thru & answer most ?s - - - This isn't a lecture although starting to sound like one - Few newbees errred more'n me early on in not providing essential background info on the problem/tech advice being sought - - - Inna post or signature: Always - what U drive - year, miles, drivetrain, modifications by U or others & so on lets the Gurus zero in quickly - - - - - - Anyway, FWIW - My MJ Has a 3 inch PO installed lift & would have been a 2incher if I'd done it - the dif in looks 2vs3, is the dif between eeney & meeney IMO - Tire size up r down can alter appearance/stance as much as a one inch dif in lift - - - - Expense - From what I've read & believe, a 2inch can be done without mods to anything factory excepting toe - it's gotta be reset on any amount of lift - Learn to DIY - not hard & a shops gonna set it to OEM no lift regardless because of Liability, ignorance, dishonesty & other nonsense & then lie/BS about results - save the $s & DIY - - - 3inch adds cost for track bar drop bracket if U don't wanna mod the attachment point & pretty much gonna have to address upper/lower control arm length & then caster - tire size's gonna be a part of this - - - Leave the rear alone until finished with the front, then take a look see & you'll know which way 2 go - - - Here's some CC links to getcha going - - - You're gonna like it here  From DIY PROJECT WRITEUPS http://comancheclub.com/topic/28233-lift-vs-control-arm-length-table/ http://comancheclub.com/topic/11098-how-to-measure-ride-hight/ http://comancheclub.com/topic/27178-tire-size-gear-ratio-rpm/ http://comancheclub.com/topic/30735-mj-rear-shock-absorber-cross-reference/ http://comancheclub.com/topic/15019-some-general-mj-info-and-faqs/ http://comancheclub.com/topic/7477-a-list-of-links-for-info/ From YOUR PROJECT MJs http://comancheclub.com/topic/36517-the-building-of-bucky/ http://comancheclub.com/topic/37070-maura-gets-a-facelift-1990-4x4/ http://comancheclub.com/topic/32740-alexias-1987-to-1997-comanche/ And from MJ TECH http://comancheclub.com/topic/13447-what-is-the-most-important-tip-youd-share-with-mj-owners/ :wrench:
  16. Nice, clean looking fab - - - - Where did you find the wastebaskets? - - Perfect for some back burner projects of mine & no HobbyLobby or the like close by - - Anyway, looking OEM good while keeping warm - - All right!
  17. Oyaji is correct - Most of these type locks aren't all that difficult to work on - - A key that fits should help a bunch in disassembly - insert it before pulling the core from the collar - pins won't fall out - Now you can see which pins need to be addressed - - Increasing depth of a notch (whatever they'er called) onna key's not hard - building up with solder does it for the other direction - Do the build up 1st & then a little file work & you've a master to have someone copy - Tedious work for me & my sometimes clumsy fingers but it can be done - I have on a dozen or so Toyota PUs & CryCo Minivans & then gave up when it occurred to me that security wasn't all so important in most cases - If a creep's already in they'll most likely bust the lid if it's locked - - So, a little dremel/file work on the protruding pin/tumblers & that's that - - :wrench:

  22. Chrome - - Seems to be a huge market for it in Alabama
  23. I'd keep the '85 - - Always wanted one when Toyota 4X4 PUs were my thing - wife thought my hobby didn't need expanding - - Anyway, the tercells have a following & 1.5-2.0k for repairs & you've a good body/running/hi mpg car that you like ain't a bad thing imo - - The 3A series were pretty stout engines - sounds like a PO fooled with the actual mileage or just trashed it - blow by for 230k isn't normal given half way decent maint - - 230k is pretty high as far as the head gasket goes - - - 10 yr old or there abouts ford escorts don't go for much & the merc twin a little less - ditto for olds aleros & their gm twins - - I've had experience with'em all & are pretty easy to maintain/work on - - the GMs get about 6-7 less mpg than the fords - - - - Sorry about $ being tight - - - A close friend's going through same thing - - Last yr & this he took on a part time at the home depot - seems like all the big box stores are offering holiday season temp jobs in this part of the midwest - Might be worth looking into as a means to save the Toyota - - -
  24. I ck out the easiest things 1st - Things mechanical or the ladies - - This one I'd start with the dist cap & wires :wrench:
