Yes, I have three Renix MJs, two have Renix fittings, the other apparently an HO fitting, I'll just grab a Renix one from the JY. This way I don't need to remember which truck is not year matched, will only need to keep one filter type on hand and I've never had an issue with filter availability for the Renix filters.

The "G" in the 4th position of the VIN indicates it's a Big Ton (GVWR, 5001-6000).

Confirmed by the "L" in the 5th position of the VIN.

The white walls are "interesting." It looks like it had the factory brush guard by the air dam cut-outs next to the tow hooks.

And the reason people swap from Renix to HO threads is to use a larger filter???

jdog is the MAN! I owe you a few , that was it, still don't understand why the Fram 3985 fits but the STP 3985 does not. Now I need to find a Renix housing so I don't need two different filters. OK, I'm ready for that dancing banana!

Don't the later ones use at torx attachment? This has a hex head and I've had it since 2006 and have never had this problem before, and the Fram PH3985 fits.

OK, I was changing the oil and filter in my ’88 4.0L today, one would think the easiest thing to do, right? I had two WIX 51626 filters (was going to change the '89 also), both would not thread on, they seemed slightly big, I could feel the threads pass each other. I checked the IDs, ~0.735 for the old Fram PH3985 (I know, I know) and ~0.747 for the two WIX. I then went to NAPA, got a 1626 Gold series (made by WIX) same thing, so I got a cheap STP S3985 from Autozone, same thing too big, WTF?? The old Fram spins back on so nothing is wrong with the mount, my ’89 has a WIX 51626 and my ’90 has the NAPA Gold 1626. I guess its par for 2020. So now I'm in a holding pattern until I get one that fits. Anyone else have issues with oil filters lately?
