  1. Absolutely will, it’s gonna be a long and steady build on it, tracking down all the og parts is gonna take some time but it’ll be a build that gets better as it goes, but it all starts with getting her running
  2. Me too, and even more glad that he isn’t out of the MJ game, but I won’t spoil his new one just yet @Muncher
  3. Just picked up and added to the collection of MJ’s with an 87 Comanche Chief. This truck is almost fully optioned out from factory with all the skid plates, Tow Mirrors, RollBar, Bedlight, 4wd 5spd, and Air conditioning. The body is 99% rust free, the plan now is to do a full day 1 restoration on this truck. Here’s a link to the guy I bought it from’s build thread
  4. This should be pinned fo sho
  5. I’d clean your idle air control valve on the side of your throttle body, it’s to torks screws and you just use like wd40 or carburetor cleaner and a cloth and get it to move in and out freely
  6. Very much agree, black looks good but the chrome makes the black paint pop
  7. It has been a long time since I posted on this thread, some pretty major upgrades to the MJ have been added, such as the Leather steering wheel I picked up in Kenosha, along with a 21 slot grill I also picked up at the Kenosha swap meet, also new are some 31 mud terrains thar really help even with 2wd.
  8. I personally have my short bed with a side box, to me it gives me all the space I need for tools and such, plus I just like the look of it, and as for bed space I have a bedliner in and I use it to pick up and transport riding lawnmowers all the time and even from the side profile 31’s don’t look bad on it with the lift, keep in mind the only side picture I have rn I have a heavy trailer with another MJ on it so it’s a bit squatted
  9. That’s gonna be a really cool truck and sorry again about your grandfather, it’ll definitely be a cool tribute build
  10. I agree, nothing looks better factory then a red Chief with the black stripes
  11. Thanks Carter, Rn the plan Is to get it running again, and eventually restore it into a pretty much factory Chief
  12. Got the Chief home a couple of days ago, it was really nice to meet you Caden, whenever your up the Nh way feel free to come by, towed it home I with my buddy’s F-150 and then the next day I hooked it to my MJ for fun and to get it up the driveway
  13. Here’s a few of the ones I got, it was a pleasure meeting you and your family and getting to talk so long and see your very beautiful truck. Thank you guys so much
  14. Besides yours I’ve seen a beige one with a side toolbox in the southern area of NH I tried to get a picture of mine with his but I couldn’t
  15. I started with my Comanche Although Mine is 2wd it was a good way to learn in the snow and with the 4.0 and Aw-4 it has always started and got me where I need to go. Personally It made it easy to learn to back up and know how big it is because of how boxy it is and being able to see the corners of the jeep from the drivers seat as well as the Great visibility I get out of the single cab. Definitely Not the best on gas but The smiles per gallon are up there. One of my favorite things is all the people you meet that are Interested in the Truck. Probably not the best or most realistic option but definitely a Fun one.
  16. I'm not recommendation any of these, but there's some on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125089253933?hash=item1d1fe68a2d:g:jIgAAOSw5Plh2LAT https://www.ebay.com/itm/254889620674?hash=item3b589af4c2:g:rQQAAOSw309gQSTc New Module is $39 on rock auto: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1190178&cc=1179716&pt=7172 New Coil is $15 and up https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=47845&cc=1179716&pt=7060
  17. The coil can be separated from the module on the bottom, the contact and ground points get corroded. Do you know if the garage separated them and cleaned up the connections? We had problems with both of our renix coils here and separating/cleaning the connections took care of our issues. I think the whole module + coil is considered "the coil" for our cars.
  18. My Comanche has been my daily for the last year since I got my license, I got it at a little over 50k miles and have since put 10k miles on it since with little to no problems. This morning I flipped 60k on my drive in.
  19. Id suggest recording the sound and posting it on here. Also from what I have noticed is the renix models take longer to start than any of the high output models. As well the engine type and year as well as outdoor temperature is also important.
  20. I look on this website Copart while browsing for Manche's But i'm not sure too many MJ enthusiasts know about this place. Here is a 92 5 speed 4.0 2wd up for grabs https://www.copart.com/lot/32895852/clean-title-1992-jeep-comanche-pioneer-in-fort-wayne
  21. This is where I’d look
  22. https://www.boostwerksengineering.com/-Engine-Components_c_10.html here's the parts I’ve been looking at, there is a thread about turbo 4.0’s somewhere, I’ll link it when I find it again
  23. yep, that the plan its stuck on a little harder than i thought tho, i need some kind of solvent to get it off
  24. Got some more chrome on the truck Friday with the door handles and mirrors. when i took the door handle off on the passenger side i confirmed my suspicion of a new passenger door as under the handles the door was burgundy. The combo really go together with the bumper, toolbox, and wheels. at this rate I'm gonna need to come up with a new thread name, it gets less grandpa by the day. but until i think of a better name it stays.
