  1. Sorry, brain slipped out of gear. I reworded what I was trying to say several times, and didn't reread it before I hit post.
  2. I'm pretty sure it was the v8 axle in Grand Cherokees.
  3. That bar doesn't pull, it maintains the end that is bolted to the front axle a fixed distance from the driver side frame. That's all that it needs to do. While steel isn't a particularly good material in compression, it's strong enough in this application. So it pushes, too. At the limits of travel, the axle moves slightly right or left, but not enough that you can't easily adjust with your steering wheel. Add the control arms controlling front and rear location, and tilt ,the suspension in our Comanches and Cherokees is fairly simple, robust and effective.

No worries Pete, 32 Special is easy to load, and it is really easy on brass. Roll your own.
  5. Sometimes it's hard to see the forest for the trees.
  6. I plan to use my Comanche as my daily. But I'll have modern vehicles if I want to take off, say to tow to Moab.
  7. Buy from @krustyballer16. He will sell just the side plates, saves a bunch on shipping, it will go USPS Flat rate. The rest is common tubing.
  8. I think what you are seeing is a symptom, not the cause. Sounds like your O2 sensor is working, something else is driving you into Open loop.
  9. Car-part.com is where I found my 4.10 Liberty 8.25, thanks to Pete. I think I paid $250, junkyard in the boondocks I would have never even known existed. 4 hour round trip, but it was worth it.
  10. Seems like a clocking ring might be a simple solution.
  11. I don't know. Something to be said for being able to just sit in a 2019 car and just drive it. 5 years of not having to do anything but change to oil is pretty nice. Even nicer when it's my wife's car, the lack of worry about THAT item is cheap insurance.

Oh, I have a similar one there, but it's painted .
  13. Location, location, location. Timing helps, too. And patience.

The original dealer License plate frame says Roy Baldwin, Santa Cruz, and I have warranty card with an aluminum tag, say Roy Baldwin, Santa Cruz, but pretty cool.
  15. My CJ had factory 2.73 gears. I bought a set of 3.54 take outs that had built, but the owner wanted to go bigger. I got upgraded front and rear axles for $500. If you want to go bigger than 33" tires, 3.54 gears probably aren't deep enough, I would be looking for 4.56 or 4.88. I saw a pair within driving distance of me for $800. YJ, as I remember. Obviously they wouldn't be straight bolt in, but still would be an affordable way to go. Edit: But, I don't think going with an 8.8 would gain you anything. It's so much bigger than your Dana 35 the ground clearance would probably be the same. It IS a better axle, though.
  16. There just isn't much movement possible, and if you get too much, it's pretty simple and affordable to replace the bushings. When you do get wear, it tends to be symmetrical, so it has limited effects on tracking. One of those things, so simple, why make it harder?
  17. Pretty clean looking Cherokee. Have they met your reserve yet, I don't see a Reserve Not Met tag.
  18. That's OK, just don't forget to start again.
  19. Isn't that the ECM?
  20. A member, or just someone you know of?
  21. Sure. I've never swapped back and forth, so I have no personal experience. Just seemed like it would be good to throw it out.
  22. Does anyone know what pads are used? I rebuilt 4 Waggoneer springs for my CJ, and had to buy a bag of 100. 2 1/2 inch square, oval button to retain them. I have quite a few, would be more than willing to help out at cost. Shipping in a flat rate envelope will be more than the pads, they are 15₵ each.
  23. On a new rebuild. I have heard that switching to full synthetic on a high mileage engine can lead to new or worsening leaks.
  24. I can find used engines from private sellers for $250-$300 on Craigslist or Marketplace on a regular basis. I would probably plan on rebuilding something like that before I installed it, I would bet you could do a simple refresh for less than $1000, including the core. Obviously, if you have to get into machine work, it will go up. I see local shop rebuilds for $1300 - $1450, so pretty cheap labor.

That sounds like a high option truck. Leather steering wheel, front and rear bumper guards, transmission heater, Super Sport Group, Cruise Control, heavy duty insulation package
