  1. To be honest, If I could have found a job in Michigan I would still be there. - Hold on now, the only reason I say this is because ALL of my family is still in Michigan and its the only place I have ever known. I would expect anyone else to feel this way... There is nothing wrong with Wisconsin! Its great here, in fact I think that there are VERY many things that Wisconsin residents and Michigan residents have in common. :) It's going to take me a few months to be comfortable with everything, but for the position I am at, I couldn't be more thankful. The new job at the railroad is going GREAT. I wish you guys could see the stuff I am getting to do on a daily basis. The Wisconsin & Southern Madison office is right by the Yard. My office has a great view of the ponies when they are moving around out there, fun to watch and a just a general good feeling seeing them in action, getting to do ALOT of hands on stuff too! Notice that my location still reads my hometown in Reed City, as long as my family AND my '88 MJ stay there, its still where I will be seen alot too! So - Roger, to answer your question, Michigan has NOT seen the last of me
  2. I'm not gonna keep ya from doing your thing. Those things just are not my bag... :wavey:
  3. Let me know what you think of that. I made my own cause I just didnt think that these ones looked beefy enough... Plus - it's not hard to make a new one if you have problems with this one, the clamp is the main thing I needed to make my own. Hopefully it works fine for you though.
  4. Hood Vents - I wouldnt do ANY of them. I think there are much better ways of solving issues with high coolant temps with fans and whatnot. Before I run hood vents and cut holes in my hood I will remove my hood completely :chillin: In my opinion that would look way more BA than hood vents :clapping:
  5. Looks Good CW! My long standing G/F worked one summer cleaning the interiors of cars at a Ford dealership in her hometown. How did I ever get so lucky :clapping: J/K - Truth is that she does help me out alot and I am forever grateful for it.
  6. yeah I'm going that friday morning. don't know if you want to do that too or just wheel on saturday. we're following you up on friday most likely. if all goes well, we'll have the 40 ft gooseneck and the duramax, so we'd trailer both rigs down. if that's the case, we may be leaving when steve gets back from work (around midnight/1am) because then he can sleep on the way down. otherwise, we may leave later too *shrug* idk. I'm wheeling sunday until 6pm then heading home BTW. may as well get as much as possible in while I'm there. Two Questions: Will either of you have a spare seat in your MJ? :dunno: :clapping: Would you mind filling said seat with a "Cheesehead in Training"? I'll MOST LIKELY (Let me check with the new job first, I start work on Monday so I don't know yet) have nothing going on and would love to tag along if you two don't mind... - Take Care
  7. Bumper looks good. That is all...
  8. The fuel pump and sending unit is the stock one, there is one that looks just like it in your MJ too if you have a SWB... As far as trimming, nothing has been trimmed yet. I do have some rubbing though, but it is nothing I am worried about.

    Paint?

Looks OK Pat. My only concern is if you have problems with the truck running hot or not - This I don't know - A darker color paint won't help you keep the engine running cool... Especially if you wheel it and its not going to see much in the line of highway use :dunno: Also, in the end, its what you want - not us
  10. Have you seen what we drive? We're not hoity-toity fancy people. :rotf: Is your back yard yours, or do you share? I'm sure a lot of people on here own a tent. I share it with lots of other people. Tenting probably isnt much of an option... :shake:
  11. I'm gonna be on Isle Royal that weekend  Have a blast for me!
  12. take an out of state check? :dunce: Same here, would take the ferry if it wasn't $500. :fs1: But going to be heading to the Badlands the week after with Wade so no go on this one but will get over for sure for one though. And in all seriousness I say we make one up over at $500MJ pad to break it in right, to take that new home smell out and replace it with the sweet smell of the jeep on a sunny day. It sure doesnt have that "new home" smell. I'm going to be renting my one bedroom apartment in a building that is over 100 years old. The place used to be the general store for Fitchburg until the RR tracks got pulled up and other development came in. It's nice, don't get me wrong, but I don't know if its going to be THAT nice to host you guys there for a Saturday... I guess we'll see. I DO have a huge backyard for grilling, throwing a football/frisbee etc. I don't know of any hotels near the area. Don't even ask to sleep in my bed Roger... :ack:
  13. My thoughts exactly. Funny thing is that some people still wonder why I have such a beefy rear bumper on my truck. I hope to be adding even more armor to it soon!
  14. lol - are there even any shackles there?
  15. Prior to me owning it, I think something like this happened to my blue MJ. The body lines don't line up nicely on the drivers side of the truck and no matter what I do I can't get them perfect. Also there are slightly bent pieces of the uniframe up near the drivers door inside of the fender... The truck looks fixable for sure :clapping: just be aware that you might start having issues with panels lining up from now on... :ack:
  16. I think Pat was the only one wanting to drink (not that its a bad thing ) I'll have ONE beer to pass the time, but I'm more interested in meeting you guys and sharing stories... The more the merrier!
  17. Took these shots last weekend. My '88: My '90:
  18. Anytime and anywhere in June would work for me. I'll be all moved in by then hopefully. July I have a few things planned, I'm the best man in my buddies wedding one weekend - kinda gotta be there for that... It'll be nice to meet you guys! AMC show would be pretty sweet.
  19. Brent - I originally hail from Reed City MI - thats about an hour north of Grand Rapids on 131... I recently graduated college and I will be starting my full-time job in Madison WI on June 1st, Looks like I am gonna be a cheesehead too.
  20. x2 - Looks like a nice find. You are starting to come full circle with your MJ addiction, one just isnt enough
  21. Any insurance money coming your way? :dunno: Its not your fault...?
  22. Looks good Roger, glad to see its back up and going!
  23. Yah Roger, my mistake on that one (So far now I owe you two days of Jeep stuff - I'll make good on it someday :fool: ) I failed to realize that the Jeep blessing was the same weekend as my graduation from college. While you were having a blast watching other guys play around on the obstacle course that they usually have setup there I was walking across a stage 8 hours north and getting my diploma... When you called the house, you got no answer cause my parents came up for the whole graduation deal. While they were up there, we snagged that Willy's truck in the pics for Dad. They are treating me well so far. I have no complaints with them. All winter they sat in the barn because they are on my nice rims. Now they are back on the truck and they ride just like they did last fall - got a nice hummmmm to them and they have worked great off-road for me...
  24. You got it Boss, Don't worry, I plan on doing something about this. ;) Thanks for all the help Everyone!
  25. Time for an Update! It's only been about 5 months :dunce: I've been through alot with this truck in the past few months. Lets just say that a few hundred dollars later and lots of time trying to trouble shoot why it wasn't running good, I found that my ignition control module was toasted on it. So I replaced that and now (with some help from all of the other new parts I bought for it) its running great :fool: I've been driving it for the last week and I'll be taking it to Madison when I move there to start my job on June 1st. It drives great on the freeway and in town. I'm so used to driving the '88 around on the roads that I kinda forgot how "normal" trucks drive. Don't think that I'm done working on MJ's. All summer long I will have nothing better to do than put the majority of my time into making this one look better and better. I've got lots of small surface rust (paint scrapes that were never taken care of) to fix on this. One by one they will be disappearing. I might start putting it in primer once I am done with fixing the rust and I have all kinds of seals and rubber parts to replace on this truck. Florida sun was nice to the steel, but it just toasted the rubber parts. Enough talk, here is how the truck sits right now... Just for fun:
