  1. Thank you!
  2. I’m not terribly sure what I will do when I’m done with school. There’s a lot of mining, heavy equipment, or defense types of jobs down here, and I’m okay with any of those.
  3. Looks like you've got a 21 slot grille. That is very rare.
  4. This! It is important for vehicles to be driven. That said, the RMS would likely fix your leak at that mileage, but if it isn't a huge leak, I would probably just live with it. I'd look into painting it yourself too. Its doable.
  5. What does it say are the Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) of the battery?
  6. That would tell me that one of three things is happening. Your starter is dying, your battery cables aren’t making a good connection or are inadequate, or your battery doesn’t have enough cranking amps.
  7. Not wanting to lay in the gravel is understandable. I’m not sure that pulling the carpet back and then having to work around the pedals is going to be a much better experience, but everyone has their preferences. Did you try getting it from the top side?
  8. You shouldn’t need to do that. I can get to mind from either underneath or the engine compartment.
  9. Mechanical engineering
  10. Not sure if you still have the CAD front axle in your truck, but here’s my plan for an ultra low budget selectable locker. Put a ratcheting locker in the front axle, but then use one of those cable actuators to engage or disengage the disconnect. No clue if it would work in reality though.
  11. That’s awesome! What an adventure.
  12. This was one of my many reasons to go to the southwest for school and will look for a job out here after school too. It’s so much better for wheeling. I hate cleaning mud off of things.

    2000 XJ problem

Basically it replaces the coil on plug stuff with a Viper coil. It’s a coil with 6 terminals for your plug wires. Here is a video on it:
  14. That testing procedure I think was in one of the threads I posted.

I even had another one at one point. But this one i couldn't let go. I've built so many Comanches, Driven and wheeled Moab, Done work around the Home and Ranch, Climbed some of my first hills in 4wd in these trucks. I was blessed to be given a Pioneer long bed and went to get it with my girlfriend at the time, who now is the mother of my 2 boys, And we will never sell that truck. And my Street Comanche will be built and handed down to my boys when i am old and grey. I love these trucks, they are attractive, rare, tough, and just work. Ill Be a hardcore Comanche enthusiast till i die. My business Off Grid Research is focused on highlighting a long forgotten special sector of Jeep history. The Archer Brothers SCCA dominance in the Manufacturers truck series, Leading to the creation of the 100 Street Comanches. Now people can build their own Street Jeeps again. Cheers.
  17. Glad to see its on the road
  18. This forum is really one of a kind. I’m hoping you stick around. You seem to do very thorough research before asking a question and the headlight relay harness was very well done.

    2000 XJ problem

I looked it up quickly, and if it’s a coil, you’d need the whole rail. Could do the Viper coil mod though. Not sure on all of the codes. Did you check the plug and plug wire? Are you sure that injector is firing?
  20. Ok. Have you gone through Cruiser’s Tips? Particularly the ones about cleaning grounds. How does it run once you get it started? Does it have a high idle or a miss or anything on startup? Or is it smooth running right away? Renix takes a little bit of cranking to get started compared to carbureted vehicles or newer vehicles. Once Cruiser’s tips are done, these threads might be worth reading.
  21. Depending on how much they roughed the surface up, I wonder if you’d be better off DAing the whole thing down with 180 followed by 320, then priming and painting it. I’m not talking about making it too nice, but rather making it all one color. That truck looks straight enough and solid enough that it deserves paint.
  22. Passenger side front fender on the 83 has been flared to match the width of the bed. Maybe this truck will end up with a razor grille
  23. Gauge cluster and steering column are installed. Custom shifter linkage for the column shift
  24. I’d wet sand it with 800 grit. Then up to 1500 when you’re down to blue to get rid of the sand scratches.
