They really did. Doesn’t your truck have the same seats?
-
That’s perfectly fair. They sure do make for nice furniture though.

Dielectric Grease as Belt Treatment
89 MJ replied to AnotherOldJeepGuy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I’ve heard that deodorant works to quiet a noisy belt too. But how old is your belt? If it’s getting cracks, it might be due for replacement. -
I wonder if it’s an 86 thing. Just to make sure the truck would sell well before making two different styles of bench.
-
Good to know. I looked through my pictures, look like my 90 Eliminator was the same way. This has me leaning towards the cloth headrests were only available the first few years, then later they were all vinyl. And the win back seats must’ve been the seats that came on the higher trim vehicles.

Montana Manche Restoration

I’m a bad influence. Do it! But seriously, even used ones aren’t cheap. Pages 5 and 6 have some good info on those lights.- 57 replies

We have a thread about different grilles, graphics, and seat fabrics, but it might be a good idea to add the different seat styles to that thread. I am just posting this here for now to get more eyes on it. First, let’s talk about bucket seats, brackets/bases, and headrests. No headrests: 1984 only (headrests were an option) Vinyl headrests: I’m guessing these were standard. Years available? Cloth and vinyl headrests: were these standard or optional? Years available? Open center hard vinyl headrests: Optional? Years available? Regular forward and backwards tracks: standard all years? Rocker bases: XJ only? Optional? Years available? Power sliders: were these available at all on MJs? Years available? All MJ and 2 door XJ bucket seats would tilt forward, but I’ve noticed there were at least two styles of seats. Anyone know why? Wing back style: I know these were available on MJs. All years? Available in cloth only. Standard bucket style: The Renault Alliance and XJs used these too. Years available? Available in both cloth and vinyl. Now for bench seats. As far as I know, the only changes over time were the fabrics, colors, and headrests. There was also the style without the cutout for the shifter for auto on the column trucks. The other thread has colors and fabrics down. No headrests: 1986-1989 standard equipment, no headrest available Headrests: 1990-1992. Standard equipment. Auto on column style: available all years? And for anyone wondering about the other thread I was referencing, here is the link: Anyone have the answers to the years or anything else to add to the list?

87 mj with 94 xj brakes and axles.

Ok, that’s what I figured, but wanted to cover the easy stuff first. We know how modern quality control is haha. Does the brake pedal have any adjustment? I can’t remember. -

Did you bench bleed the master before installing it? Good flow out of it? -

I don’t have one, but in terms of lights, I think Hella 550s look about right up there.- 57 replies

This is the way I’ve heard to do it too. I don’t think it would make much sense to make the door fit with the new seal on because as the seal breaks in, it’s going to fit differently.
-
I think that’s what I’d check out next. Make sure there is good fluid flow coming out of the front line when you pull it out of the prop valve.
-
It is a tough line to walk, saving rare parts vs saving parts that nobody wants.
-
I know you said that you tried every method of bleeding, but I just want to double check that you did the bleeding procedure for the prop valve. Did you put in a new master cylinder? Are you getting fluid out of the fronts? Did you do new hoses in the front? If the hoses are new, I think I would look at the prop valve.

I’ll say the 4.0 is no high performance unit, but I think it does decent with the proper gearing. I can chirp 3rd in mine if I really want to with my 4.10s and 31s.
-
I’d say they’re worth grabbing, that said, it would be difficult finding another person searching for blue interior parts.
-
Cleaned up. And as a bonus, the center console had a brand new zip tie, a 1/2” craftsman socket, and a pack of brand new 30A fuses.
-
Got all of the parts cleaned up. Probably will need to do some dye work on the center console, but that’s okay because I’m pretty sure I have some left over from doing the dash. The seats, steering wheel, and column turned out very well. Little bit of vinyl repair to do on the driver’s seat, nothing major though. Until I get them in the MJ, they will make for excellent apartment furniture.

Oh yeah, it’s 182, not 177hp, I was confused earlier
-
That is a very cool truck.
