89 MJ replied to Pete M's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Hey Pete, I think he posted that before the Photobucket debacle. That said, its still nice to know for the new people! -
I also installed new pedal pads. That's not that cool, but it made it look better.

This looks like a decent project for someone in my opinion. Of course, more pics would be necessary. It looks to be an 86 with a 2.5 and an auto on the column. The stripes and the interior are pretty cool. "Hi I have a clean Jeep pickup 4x4 auto trans. Needs engine replaced, I have another engine the 2.5L 4cyl. This truck is from Florida. So its not all rusted up. Has new tires, worked great till engine let go. Thanks" https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/wsh/pts/d/centuria-86-jeep-comanche/7245546470.html

This isn't limited just to WI, MN, IA members, but would anyone be interested in doing a meet and greet in the spring? Kinda to celebrate getting our trucks out of winter storage (for us that park our trucks).

Do you have a date to get the decals installed?

Or at least just slay the major gremlins. Don't sweat the small stuff yet. -
My family usually goes to this on Friday. I'm yet to see MJ parts there though, but there's a first for everything. madisonclassics.com/our-events/

I suppose I should add myself here. I am in the Coulee Region. Not that it really matters in this thread anymore.

Gotcha. You gotta do what you gotta do. -
Is anyone already registered for the show?
-
Heck yeah! You couldn't even make it up our driveway in the snow though if you did that. It would be a great time in a parking lot though!

Right!!! This is how I feel too!

Sorry, that is going in my other truck.

This is a parts list and things that you will need to do in order to swap an AX-15 out of a 97 Cherokee into an 89 MJ. I can get a list of part numbers if they are wanted AX-15 (duh) Both the Peugeot and AX-15 transfer case. You will need to use the slip yoke in the end of the Peugeot transfer case on the AX-15 transfer case in order to use your current drive shaft 94-96 clutch master cylinder, hydraulic line, and slave cylinder (the mounting holes are not the same on a 97+ master cylinder) All of the 97 clutch stuff (if I remember correctly) I ordered a flywheel for a 1990 MJ (AX-15, but still a Renix MJ)
-
This is going to be a write up on how to put an 96 4.0 in a Renix era MJ while keeping the Renix wiring harness and the Renix parts you can use and the HO parts that you can use. I also swapped in a 97 AX-15, so not all of these parts will necessarily be compatible with your transmission. I can update with part numbers for the parts that I ordered if it is desired Renix intake manifold, that way no adapter would be needed to install the Renix TB. HO header (it was just in better shape than my Renix header) (This is optional, your Renix header should bolt right up too) HO exhaust (from the header to the cat), this will move your oxygen sensor into the exhaust instead of the header. Is there any benefit to this? I do not know. You will need to modify you intake a little bit to make these work together. (Not necessary if you use Renix header) Renix CPS, this will make sure that you are getting the correct signal to the engine Renix Flywheel/Flexplate, this will make sure that the CPS will get the correct reading from the flywheel, and allow it to start. An HO flywheel will not allow for the truck to start (ask me how I know) Renix distributor, cap, and rotor, this is part of the Renix wiring system, so you need it Renix spark plugs, again, goes with the distributor All of your Renix accessories Renix accessory mounts And then just all of your Renix wiring (knock sensor, etc)

If I keep my Ugly Truckling, I might need to look into one of these rear ends to swap in. How do these compare in strength to an 8.8? -

Dang, you have quite the fleet of older vehicles. What are the plans when this one is running and driving? -
Now you have me curious. I will need to crawl under it and look at it today. It would be a great truck for someone to restore. As of now, I am planning on making it run and drive and go from there. I will probably put floors in it too.
-
I will post the VIN later, but I am just getting a start on my registry post for my new truck (It is stuffed full of parts right now). 1988 4.0, 5 speed, 4x4, SWB, D30 and D35 Cigarette lighter, factory clock, tow mirrors I believe it was Colorado Red Pioneer with tan interior originally. I'm pretty sure it also had a bench seat. It's a pretty decent truck, really. It is rust free, other than your typical floor rust. It had a sportbar, but I am unsure if it was original or not, as it does not have a switch for the sport bar lights. It is a project awaiting work, once the work is done, it will either just get driven and used or sold. Current owner is me. I have have no idea if that VIN is correct.

Awesome! Thanks. I will do that.
-
Thank you!

Heated seats are probably in my blue truck’s future. That will probably happen when I replace the bench seat cover.
