Yup! If you followed my ISA adjustment procedure write up in the DIY or have a TBI manual from AMC, it should operate just like that.

Sounds pretty normal to me. Every morn when I leave I start my truck, jumps to about 2-2500, come down to 1500 and slowly come down to 1000 and when it goes into closed loop, you should see it idle between 850-950. 750 without AC.

Choosing the correct color Stripe Pack
eaglescout526 replied to Salvagedcircuit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If I had to guess here, white would’ve been the color for those graphics. Id be surprised if there was a color combo guide on the decals. I can imagine you could order them with what ever color AMC had and put them on. But knowing AMC, it would’ve been decals that would stand out. -

Yeah I do, I mean they’re set now and they don’t bother me as much as they did, but I’ll always know I could’ve done better. I blame my eyesight every time for stuff like this. Similar to when Obi-wan says to not trust your eyes. They deceive you. -
So what kind of lights are you running?
eaglescout526 replied to Spinnakerblue89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Factory sealed beams coupled with running the road lamps and relay harness I have give me good light. +1 for not blinding people with horribly aimed LEDs and classic look all around. -

Lol! I have no idea why but I have always liked the 84-85 Wagoneer header more than the 86-90. -
Until you get a few together in one spot haha. 2.5L is a pretty underestimated engine. I’m the resident go to on the Renix of that engine if you have trouble.

Budget front recovery points?

I feel like getting those aftermarket brackets would’ve been simpler but this works too. Haha. -

ISA not working , 2.5 L
eaglescout526 replied to HellCreek's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No problem. Just thought of this. Check to see if you have good continuity to ground. Once I get home I’ll find the pin out for the ECU so we can test continuity from the ECU to the ISA -

eaglescout526 replied to HellCreek's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ok. ISA. There. IAC is for the 4.0L which is the Idle Air Control. 2.5L has the ISA which is the Idle Speed Actuator. Yes I’m making a stink cause there is a difference and 4.0L guys would get confused and try to help you with something they have never touched. Anywho! If it’s not working like you should and since you verified the motor is working, I would highly suspect the wiring to have damage to it. Either heat or corrosion somewhere. If someone doesn’t post a pin out of the ISA to ECU plug I will get one this evening so you can do a continuity check to make sure there is a break or not. Worst case is there is a exposed wire, it grounded to the engine or intake and fried the circuit that controls the ISA in the ECU. Unless you did an HO swap where you would have the IAC. -
x2. Ill get a few people at the cruise in who will come up and say you dont see these anymore. But most folks see an old jeep and walk by without really understanding what the MJ is. Now I am really curious how its gonna be when I have both the XJ and MJ at the cruise in together.

89 Renix...needs coil? CPS?? EGR issues???
eaglescout526 replied to kaidenlem's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Have you verified the output of the CPS? .02VAC is the absolute bare minimum Renix will trigger the coil off of. -
Gambler wheel differences
eaglescout526 replied to coheed's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah. Anything on our Jeeps will have an 89 or even an EF or SF with an 89 in front of the number, those are all AMC. Chrysler dropped the 89 to merge AMC with theirs. -

Thats true Pete. I did do the pioneer decals on my truck. Course I had someone help me and I paid very close attention on how to do it. And that’s where I got the confidence to do this.
