Well I sure am moving right along now. Got windshield replaced and ask the man to keep the moldings off so I can restore them. There's plenty of before pics so no need for one. But here is their current stage: Ready for paint! Using stripper on the old plasti-dip sucked. Stuff is hard to get off. As promised these are what I have chosen to restore and make new. Started sanding the alt bracket before I took the picture. Oops. Once these are done, there is hell of a puzzle of bolts waiting for me. Time to consult a parts diagram!

Send Minuit a Message. He will help you out. -
Came home to a nice surprise waiting for me. Was really skeptical at first when I bought these, buuuut I'll let y'all decide; Neat! Are they worth it? Yes, Yes they are! But this caught my attention though: Nothing, and I mean NOTHING in the description did it say anywhere, Authentic MoPar restoration. No idea if they hand these stickers out or not. But hey! Factory floor mats! Alright, back to the regularly scheduled program....

I will say they do help. I snagged some NOS door protectors that have the built in baffles and they did bring down the vibrations.
-
Neat. I’m running those same exact speakers. Really vibrate the door with the bass though.
-
Run. Run far away from Fram. Everyone on here will tell you to use Wix or Napa or even MoPar.
-
Huh. I’ll run it again. Mind snagging the cover and the air box for me?

Just went through this with the blue cluster. It’s a finicky thing to get adjusted just right. I’ve had mine for almost a year now and I finally got the tach in the sweet spot for the 2.5L. The REM helped me a lot both times I adjusted it. Course, i don't know how it was off the first time I adjusted it as I used the REM. You'll get it adjusted where it needs to be. -

Progress. Your TPS works as designed. -

If it was, revving it while at idle would starve for fuel in the same manner you would putting it in gear and driving. -
Guess it’s time to pillage dealers for JK shocks.

Hmm. You’ve checked just about every box for this problem. Course I’m curious about your sending unit, not that that is the issue. Check your TPS and make sure it’s voltage output is around 4.5-4.8(or 85% something like that) volts if I remember correctly from my TBI service manual(there’s a whole adjustment procedure, it is in Cruisers tips). Make sure the TPS is receiving 5 volts as well. You can also play with the TPS as the engine is running and see what it does. It should bog down as you push on the sensor’s lever as the engine is idle. -
Hmm. Odd. But it doesn’t surprise me that I had issues.

Rattle Can Close to Colorado Red

No problem. It took me a while to hunt those codes down. The AMC one was found using the link that is posted and going under the AMC cars and not the Jeeps. I found the Chrysler code in an old book but can’t remember which book for the life of me at the moment. -
Awesome. I really appreciate it!
-
Damn. The VIN is coming back as invalid.
-
Thank ya! I think that 2.5L has the AMC logo valve cover. Can’t confirm but the gold for that and the air cleaner is a different touch. I believe Minuit was looking for a 2.5L coolant bottle with cap. He still might be interested in that, but I know the cap and baffle are really rare

Color code for Colorado red: AMC is BE Chrysler is HE4 for the later years. -
2.5L stuff needs to be saved. Can that license plate bracket on the front be grabbed for me? I’ll decode this one soon.

Oh god. I’ve only had the crate for a week now and these parts are just soaked and caked in gunk. I don't know what the owner had happen to everything but dang. I spent thirty minutes pressure washing the crap of the trans. I think it is an AX4. Won’t shift into fifth so it could not have a fifth. Every other gear is fine. AC bracketry and all the bolts and stuff took me a few days to soak and clean. Got fed up and pressure washed all those parts and hoses from the thirty years of crap. I swear my engine was not as gross as all these parts when I got Little Red. Now I just gotta look at the parts diagrams and figure out which bolt goes where. Scored a Renix CPS out of this. Cleaned it up and let it soaked in the mix I made with the other parts and installed it on a gamble and sure enough she fired right up. Awesome. Another original sensor. I still have to buy a good chunk of new stuff for the system. Probably will gamble on the original hoses. Here's what to expect to see; clean parts to be restored. New parts to be acquired. And within a month or so should come the install of everything under the hood. Ill post a bunch of before and after pics of everything that I have chosen to be cleaned and restored.

Not many people can say they own a first year run XJ. Get me the VIN and I’ll decode what it has.

Um, Well, its tough to say. There's a sales code option for perforated leather, what ever that is. There is a leather and plastic option for steering wheels as well. As to whether Chrysler is using real leather or not, I can not say for certain. Probably pleather? A lot of the newer leather interiors don't really feel like cow leather if they have the leather option. My two cents.
