Half a full center console w/bench seat
eaglescout526 replied to eaglescout526's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Indeed it does. This route opens up new ideas to switches and quite possibly @JMO413's idea with the REM. Course I don't know what other switches I would need really. Unless someone we all know and love with their mad fabbing skills can get someone on the ball about a hidden winch kit lol. -
Half a full center console w/bench seat
eaglescout526 replied to eaglescout526's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Only been half a month. Well I have been hard at work and sourcing parts, doing cutting, inhaling melting plastic fumes. The works. Anyways I made it this far: I know I cut it a smidge too short, I don't mind, Ill just make a block off to make the cup hold stuff. Otherwise I like it and will be happy to have factory cupholders on the side, even if they can't hold much to begin with, might do something about that. Maybe Ill do something rubber related to seat inside the holder so stuff doesn't fly. -
HAHA I ment 0-60 times with new MODS

I think you need the Mopar Performance ECU from 1990. Course sourcing those will be next to near impossible. -
Could've hit me up. I am sure AMC salvage has a few laying around that I could've snagged one for ya. But I'll voice my concern and just say I wouldn't trust repaired aluminum, especially after something that looks like the San Andreas fault. But that's me, if you have complete faith in their craft then that is perfect by all means.

I wouldve sourced a new bell, honestly. When my trans blew it ripped the bell clean into pieces. Who knows if that bell once fixed will be able to handle the torque of the 4.0L.
-
Garden bed. Pun intended.

Without pulling the cluster and stuff apart, its the ground that's bolted to the dash in cruisers tips is the cluster ground and everything else. If your truck has AC, youll benefit greatly if you do the blower ground mod as well. I know I saw an improvement in the volt gauge reading on my cluster.
-
The electrical manual for 88 is on here. I do have an 86 manual that I can look over and provide assistance with. Sometimes that ground doesn't always help, but it may not help if the other grounds are dirty/bad. One ground from the battery to the block, on from the block to the firewall and then that's pretty much the grounds for everything else is that strap from the block to the firewall. Not sure where that strap is though on a 2.8L.
-
Definitely start with the grounds. Check and clean them all and go from there. The early 84-86 clusters use old style connection for the gauges so taking the cluster out and looking at the contact prongs on the backs of the gauges and give them a good cleaning. The older clusters are notorious to have decently reliable gauges. Especially the tach. The tach likes to have a mind of its own.

There’s a universal throttle body rebuild kit that I used that has a new pressure regulator diaphragm in it. It’s made by standard and I believe it’s just called a TBI rebuild kit. -

Jeep Signs let's see what you've got
eaglescout526 replied to JMO413's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Thats a mighty big Jeep sign. Needs a big AMC logo next to it lol. -
D44. Someone has a good picture of the known popular rear axles. I see that on the passenger side of the pumpkin is a data tag for that diff. See if you can clean it off and get your gear ratio from it and a date code.

OEM if possible. Otherwise its a crap shoot at your local parts store. Some brands like Napa are usually pretty good but autozone is usually avoided. Depending on what you need I can look up parts and tell you whats available and whats not. -
Have not heard anything on the status of these other than they will happen. Coastchief is in the middle of life and will be replacing his head gasket on his truck.

Actually the Fuel pressure regulator is the same concept as to what you would find on a carb regulator. No special tools are needed to rebuild the TBI's but special care is to be heavily noted with the injector retainer screws. So the regulator consists of the diaphragm, a spring, the housing and an adjustment bolt that is either plugged off or exposed. But hopefully you won't have to do a rebuild of the TBI but its still easy to rebuild. All you need for our Renix system is a good multimeter, some torx bits for the TPS, some books and the passion to fix the problem at hand. We are all here to help you out. -

When a sensor goes out of spec, the ECU will make the engine act up. Otherwise no these engines run really solid. -

Factory Service Manual is the way to go for all repairs. The TBI book I mentioned that you got will greatly help diag the rich situation as will an REM. The TPS can be out of wack and causing it to run rich. Check the vacuum lines to the MAP sensor on the firewall. If any of them are cracked or damaged, the MAP will feel the loss of vacuum power from the intake and dump fuel into the engine thinking it is starving for fuel. The TBI book will help you out greatly with the sensors and what their specs should be. -
Probably has to do with how much it can carry. Not sure if that code is for Metric-ton package or not.
-
Lol YJ I understand why. The front axle is still supported by leaf springs. The JKU is just bigger.

Might be right about this, still have some mystery vibrations going on, not sure if its because 30 year old truck or something else to replace that I can't seem to pinpoint on replacement. I find my long bed incredibly easier to park than say a full size truck. I would imagine short beds are a quick easy turn in.
