  1. They are on? Like all the time while driving? They only illuminate with key on, at start up and if there’s an issue.
  2. That’s what we famously call the height sensing valve. It is for the rear brakes. It’s so that way when you have a heavy load, you’ll get better braking in the rear than the front. It doesn’t have anything to do with the axle other than the rod connected to it to help move the height valve up and down.
  3. Yes. That’s it, it’ll tell you what you need to know. If your gauge cluster has lights, it has senders for both oil and temp. The senders are based on Ohm resistance and they start to illuminate the lamps when they reach a certain Ohm. Same goes for the sensors but they send a constant signal to the gauge to read right. It’s fun simple stuff.
  4. Messing with the odo isn’t hard at all. There’s a diy on it too and it involves removing a C-clip. You’ll just need to get the oil and temp sensors and not senders.
  5. It’s only weird because we’re young and used to seeing a million gauges and lights in a modern car. It was weird to me the first few weeks with my truck till I got used to it. Kinda fun watching the needle bounce as you took turns and bumps. But then I found a 5/6 cluster that still had the large gas gauge and then the full blue cluster. There’s something about that gas gauge that like to hang up at 3/4 and then start reading. Not sure what.
  6. They are all manual and dependent on the sensors in the engine bay. There’s a write up somewhere on it. Only the later 91-96 clusters depend on the ECU. I could be wrong on this but I am not an HO expert.
  7. Why not swap it now? It’s all plug and play literally. The blue full clusters are hard to find in the 87-90 config but easier for 84-86. The red ones for 87-90 are easier to be hard and are abundant.
  8. Why not drop in a AMC 360 or an AMC 401 just to be different. Haven’t seen one of those swaps.
  9. Could always build a half a console like I did for me and SoCalmanche.
  10. Oh yeah lol, that was a mess! don't want to do it the way it happened again lol. Thats putting it mildly lol. They will be enjoyed, now to decide on what to do with the old ones.
  11. Interesting color choice. 12. Let us not forget what happened 79 years ago to the day where the Empire of Japan suddenly and deliberately attacked the United States of America. It goes without saying to remember those who served and to thank those who endured the horrors that we get to only learn about from history while we sit at home fighting civil battles over controversial topics.
  13. Guess I missed the fact it’s an 87 somewhere.
  14. Shaken Connery or Moore?
  15. Well I think the vibration issues have been resolved. After dropping the trans to replace the slave cyl, it seems the vibes let up. Now to say I replaced the trans mount less than 6 months ago due to its age and the hell it went through. Improved the dampening of vibrations but not to my liking. When I did that change it was harder to get the crossmember to line up properly which I can blame on the motor mounts and how old the trans mount was. Now that it went back together after the recent event it seems driving is more pleasing without those random vibes between 40-45 mph. Also got the long running boards that go from the front fender to the rear fender thanks to @OldSch88L. I look forward to installing them. I am missing the look of my truck without the camper shell.
  16. New gas tank, sending unit, fuel pump, starter relay and ground cable ordered. Once I get holiday shopping done I will get the starter.
  17. Get the VIN. Depending on if it’s an 86-88, I can check. If it’s 89-92, @fiatslug87will be able to tell you.
  18. I mean if it had everything like the missing tailgate, intact bumper and what not then I could say it’s a $2k truck. Now just because it’s a metric ton doesn’t mean it will have a 4.0. Remember you could order these trucks how ever you wanted. It could be a 2.5L for all you know and maybe the owner put in a bastardpack for the leafs. Who knows what the trucks history is and what has all be done to it.
  19. Something about that truck doesn’t say $3k. Now if it was say a barn find, intact with all parts and just sat protected then I could justify that. What engine does it even have?
  20. Alright I think it’s safe to say tachs were still a luxury in the 80’s. I forgot about column shift guys.
  21. I barely remember my own last eight! Lol. Frick that reminds me, I need to get back into the VIN hunt. Hate being so lazy.
  22. Yeah, trust me, I won't be fooling around with the tank as something to throw back in until I kick myself for throwing it back in. Ill be getting a new one to tank and throw in along with getting a new fuel pump just so that way I can worry about rebuilding the original one later.
  23. I will miss seeing it in person that is for damn sure. Does the new owner know about CC?
  24. I might goof around with the tank for a little while longer. I just flushed it with some water and some stuff came out but not all, still looks pretty brown and dark inside. Id try to weld the holes on the tank but I kinda am more to the point of utilizing my employment at the dealership to order a new tank and sending unit and maybe putting the tank on the back burner. Something tells me the tank is original as it has an undercoating. But that doesnt mean it wasnt replaced and then undercoated.
