  4. Yay for math! But I swear I don’t act my age at all. I swear at my generation a lot and disagree with everything they do and how it’s done. That being said, it’s probably also why they didn’t do a great job with your clutch.
  5. It’s a crude method utilizing water as a means to blast carbon deposits off the piston heads. It only works on a engine at operating temp. Thinking about it, doing sea foam would be the better choice or even some high octane fuel.
  6. I might try it this year with the camper. Or at least run some lights inside holy crap that gives me an idea!
  7. Not many but if you watch the Motorweeks review of the 86 MJ you'll see it has a garnet interior with a garnet dash bezel. Something tells me though that the audience liked black a lot better.
  8. Damn the catalog and Chrysler for hiding certain part numbers. There is seriously alot of part numbers that only veterans would know what they are and for. I might have to dig and see if I can find the matching filler but that is nice. Really well done on painting the dash bezel. If I hadnt restored the one I have currently I probably would go to the dark charcoal for my bezel. I might have to find another one and test such.
  9. Yeah its right there right up to the chrome. I honestly never ever thought I would reference that picture again. I do miss that bezel and kinda regret selling it but I have a NOS brushed aluminum in its place. As does @CoastChief as a form of payment for the body moldings. Yes there was two of those left and I kept them a secret, oops. But both NOS pieces don't have the fillers either which is incredibly odd and the catalog doesn't have a part number for a brushed filler so I wonder if black ones were painted silver to match since it was a filler piece. But I am sure as hell am gonna get a dash bezel and paint it almond for Chunk.
  10. I had this NOS medium blue one a couple years ago. @saveevryjp1998 has it now but from 84-87ish they stopped and moved to the woodgrain, black with chrome paint, black, silver and of course, the coveted brushed aluminum. I have been tempted to do a charcoal one but it won't look right so I have stuck with black. But amazing work!
  11. Its a GM 2.8L V6. Garbage engine.
  12. Well its great as a utility which is the part I love. The part I hate is how I didnt realize how much I loved the look of a MJ without the topper but with the soft top. She gave off that kind of sport truck vibe and I liked it. So its a love/hate and I don't mind it. It will have its advantages at some point, I just got it not to long ago.
  13. 4.0L's are pretty abundant. Just gotta find a cheap pile of rust XJ for the swap.
  14. Calm down there Tommy tutone. Kinda wanted to say James Halliday in celebration of Ready Player Two's release. Great looking truck! Shame you plan to ditch the mighty 2.5L.

  16. Finding the metal slaves is tricky but they can be had. The plastic ones are all too common. They explode from the poor u-clips holding the slaves pipes in place causing them to burst if the clips wiggle out.
  17. I think I’m looking at the older 242 shift bezel plates. They have the same shift pattern as the newer style and this style pictured above comes in AMC packaging so I think they just might be the older style. Actually I did some research and they are for the 228 which the 242 replaced in 87. The 228 has hi lock and lo lock along with 4wd meaning it was very close to the 242 in operation.
  18. Yeah I am not sure. The catalog says it’s just a t-case shift bezel. I might have to break out the ole paper catalogs.
  19. Anyone know which T-case this is?
  20. Every garnet part I have acquired have been darker in color than the firethorn. My only theory why that may be is age of the part, the colors and material slowly degrading and such but have not been able to really figure that out. I had some web guides that were darker than the firethorn, I have two garnet rear XJ belts that are the same dark color but those would be dark anyways. So I am not sure but I can say the panel will be darker.
  21. indeed it is. It will serve as a template for new door card backs when I go to cut them.
  22. No problem! Yes. I have one of their covers as well and I love it a lot. I just recently got a camper shell and I have a love hate with it.

Yeah after seeing your truck makes me miss the sport truck look I had going with mine with the vinyl bed cover.
  24. Define a fix? I am in the same boat with trying to figure out why at certain intermittent speeds, they operate fine. But the moment you set the wipers to low or high, they drag and I have done about every damn thing I can think of other than bathe the entire linkage in lithium grease.
  25. Perks of working at a dealer. We have found late 88-92 MJ's to have the most accurate build sheet for their vehicle. Need a new buzzer? I have a couple blue ones.
