You could always do it the Arizona way and buy some rubber vac line to go over the hard line and just use some of the plastic tube to connect to the other side.

Here’s the oil in question. If I had to say I think this is the 90’s. I am not sure what engine my grandfather had that required this stuff unless it was on sale.

Ok so I thought I had more 20w50 but I have a lot of 15w40(regular, don’t go bananas guys. It’s older penzoil stuff)from my grandfather to use so it’s just as good to run it for a bit.

I think the oil pressure is between 40 and 60 from what I remember seeing but I haven’t had the car run long enough to get to temp nor drive it yet. Been trying to figure out all the vac lines and what not.

I trust the one in the car, it generates 40 psi and maybe a bit more. I will probably have to hook up a mechanical to make sure the gauge isn’t lying but I also haven’t done much ground cleaning yet. But it sounds healthy for only 62k on the clock.

Also the temp gauge grounds out upon start up. Does it do that and come back down before going to a high temp?

I was thinking 10W30 too. It’s a good oil weight for out here.

Alrighty I got one for ya guys since oil weight makes controversy around here. If you guys were (and those of you who down own) to run an oil weight in your vintage engines(prior to EFI era), specifically a 403 olds, what weight would you use? I haven’t done an oil change yet and the internet is not fruitful for a specific oil weight, but I have some 20w50 I’m gonna run and use since it’s free oil from my other grandfather.

Could be a lot worse. Take your time, start with the cheapest and work your way up. Probably best to get all the parts first and spend a weekend or two replacing old with new rather than replace a few here and there.

Fuel leak addressed. Still have idle issue but as soon as it gets warm it idles and revs real nice. So I need to actually adjust the fast idle to warm up and then it should do just fine. Gettin closer to doing a drive around the block.

Wow. It’s got the right code for it. That’s impressive. Yes 23 gallon tank can be had. Only on long beds. The 16 and 23 share the same tank stamping but there’s a baffle inside that changes the gallons that can be had.

Dammit. I knew I missed one.

Got the new choke tubes in and got myself a new problem. Won’t idle right so I did some adjustments to the choke and got it to do a nice steady idle at 1k rpm. I know it’s supposed to be lower but I’ll work that out soon. I also found another fuel leak at the fuel inlet. I plan to address this tomorrow with a new fuel filter and Teflon on the fuel filter pipe to stop the leak.

Good point, chances are it probably will. Course right now Chunk is in pieces still so I’m no where near adding cupholders.
