  1. I believe the S10 is a solid option for the bastard pack. At least for an XJ. Not sure if the MJ is different. Don;t think year has anything to do with it just as long as it's an S10. Probably try and find the newest you could.
  2. here's what I can tell ya since I just moved out of there and have been through the process a few times in the last few years. Bidding wars are done for the most part. The people putting 20-60k are long gone because the median price has skyrocketed to levels that don't sustain that ridiculous BS. Most time if someone's been doing a cash offer now it's going to be well below the asking price. Example, my mom just sold her house and there was another one that was listed across the street. They went 60,000 cash under asking price and it sold. When I sold my first house 4 years in Englewood it was under contract in less than a day and bid over. When I sold our last house last spring in the hell of Highlands ranch (seriously is the worst place ever). Took two weeks to go under contract and buyer bid under. O wouldnt worry about bidding wars or cash snipers. Only way that will happen is prime areas where someone intentionally prices their home to create that. You're window for prime buying is running out. Late spring and summer are peak times so be prepared to possibly pay a bit more and things going a little quicker. To make your buying process as stress free as possible get ALL of your income, taxes, savings, bank statements, etc all in order. Basically anything financially related make sure you know where it is or have quick access to it. Not sure if you're buying this alone or with the wife / girlfriend. But whoever's on the loan needs to do the same. Shop for rates as well. I ended up saving almost .5% by doing this on my current place. All you need to do is call around to a few Brokers and ask them their current rates based upon your credit score. They should be able to give you a general idea but obviously we'll want to do a pull on your credit to give you exact numbers. I prefer to work with Brokers because they're able to get you a lot more options than the standard bank will. Also most times their fee is less than what banks and credit unions charge. Your credit score is also another thing that you should know right now know it very well. don't open any new lines of credit or take out an additional credit. As for the inspection you just need to look around and find someone that has good reviews and try to see one of their sample reports. Some of them will give you a very detailed Report with pictures others will just give you a detailed Report with an explanation and other times they just kind of look at it and give you absolutely nothing that someone with half a brain would have been able to figure it out. Also depending on the year home you're looking for it would be a good idea to have the sewer scope. On our first house we bought in Englewood we did that and ended up finding that the sewer pipe needed to be replaced. We ask the seller to do it added up costing him 10 grand to get that taken care of. It was at least 10 grand that didn't have to come out of my pocket after the fact though. Lastly, what I find to be the most annoying part is trying to find a realtor that's worth a damn. No offense to anyone in that position but that is the absolute biggest scam in the world. Just make sure whoever you choose as your realtor is going to have your best interest in mind. But more importantly that if you ask them to do something they're going to do it. Example, when we bought our first house in her first house in Englewood I I wanted to submit an offer under the asking price. My realtor thought it was an insult......so became a battle to finally get her to submit the offer that I wanted. She was a friend of my wife and it was our first house so learned a lot on that one. Do your own research and don't assume your realtor is going to do it or give you the right answer. I could probably keep going. So ask away if you want to know more.
  3. Ahhh the Jeep wave. I've driven jeeps for a little over 15 years now. I've only commonly given/gotten the jeep wave in the CJ I used to roll around in. Very rarely in my XJ someone would wave if they where in a XJ as well but that was it. The new breed of Jeep drivers aren't those I want to acknowledge. They are a bunch of fugazis (not to be confused with the delightful post hardcore punk band). Go to 4WP and run around with their rough country stickers and ghey wheels. Who the F thinks 20's and angry eye grills belong on a jeep!!!
  4. Career changes are tricky, I contemplated this a few years ago and side against it. Most times you are going to be starting out on the lower side of everything, shift, pay, benefits, etc. If you are at a spot in life you are comfortable with that then it opens up a lot of options. If not then you get really limited. I work in healthcare and have been doing it for 15 years now. I work on the administrative side and started as a delivery driver and worked my way up. I've also had the luxury of working in lots of different areas and narrowed down to what I enjoy about it and what I dislike. I really enjoy my current role but it took a while to get here. When I was considering a change two areas came up IT and a trade either welding or electrical. IT security is a booming industry and pays really well. I have a few friends in it on the lower side of the pay scale and they make upwards of six figures. I went to a local school in Denver that offered open house nights to just dabble and see. I hated it, it was something that I couldn't picture myself doing for the rest of my life. For others thought it might be there cup of tea and it offers a good amount of perks. Check out Cybary, they offer free classes and you can get a feel. Second up was a trade but I'm not getting younger and heaven forbid you get injured out side your job you're really screwed. Example one of my employees husband is a mechanic and got in a car accident driving home. He can't work and there are only so many benefits he can take advantage of. Also as you said you get burnt out on it after a while.
  5. As Pete stated an adapter or at least swapping an input shaft if it's a 6 bolt tranny/tcase combo should work. From there you have a few options. Trying to think of a d300 would work.
  6. I'll be interested to hear how you like it. I've been eyeing onealog with a million other things. I picked up tools. One I'm most excited about is the portaband conversion from Swag for the band saw. Also decided to get a hobart 210 with some of my bonus from work. Now to just get some 220v ran and start building.
  7. I'd suggest a ZJ tie rod cheap, easy upgrade but as others have said rockauto and MOOG is solid. Tru to avoid R and RK moog. Those are the "junkier" products. Ball joints spice/dana is good.
  8. ...
  9. Bet they go here
  10. I used lares when I did the upgrade on my XJ. They are based in US and I didn't have any issues. Bought off rockauto. Redhead is good too just more.
  11. Well not a good post. Jeep took a dump the other day. Not fully sure what happened but it either threw a rocker arm or valve seat dropped. Having it towed back to the guy that rebuilt it and see what he says. I did pick up some of these https://rockerlocks.com/index.html Guess we will see what happens.
  12. Hahaha, yeah. I'm sitting in my office right now looking at it and I'm just like you know what...that's a damn cool truck. Then I look at it more and like well it could use some paint, bigger tires, 1 piece windows......and now I'm on CC looking at builds.
  13. Well for now. Not selling the MJ. It's going back to Denver for a bit while I sort out the dilemma with the WJ. At the point right now of just going and buying some boring @$$ honda so I don't have to wonder what car feels like working today. MJ is on daily duty this week so go fire it up and gas line is leaking FML.....
  14. I had the MJ parked at my dad's for a while with the move. He sells cars and people always ask about it. Funny thing is when you actually start taking cash people disappear. Like they just want me to give it to them.
  15. Never overheated, cooling system was replaced with all new stuff and the gauges is always under 205 (have a traildash hooked to see) I know overheating its mist time the cause but......as for the rocker. I've thought that is what it might be. Just pissed off having to deal with it. Especially since it was all just redone.
  16. Well tinkered with it this am. Now it's worse. Pretty sure a valve seat dropped or a rocker fell off. Battery connection was loose so I tightened it up and swapped one of the "good" coils over to another side that was saying it was bad. Started it up and was still running rough but not as bad, no CEL. Went on a drive still wasnt feeling right but not as bad as it was then.....just died. Coasted to a side street and went to start it. Took two tries to turn over finally did but now it has a nasty clunking sound from the top passenger side head. Pretty fn pissed. Luckily wasnt far from home so just got it back and parked it. Now I need to figure how to get it down to the guy that did the rebuild and have him fix it.
  17. Had thought about the CPS my dad had it happen to him on the 4.0 WJ, but his was a crank no start. Mine will start and drive, but not well.

    WJ issues

Misfire issues p0353, p0300 and p030x So trying to figure out what is going with the WJ. here's the breakdown 4.7HO full rebuilt under 10k, new TB, new plugs and some other things. Has been driving fine up until the other night. Parked it to run into costco came out and first it just idled super rough then dies and wouldnt crank over. Limped back home and got a code reader. First go around was p0300 and misfire on cyl 1 and 3. So replaced the coils still ran like crap went and read codes again. Now it was p0353, p0300 and misfire and 2 and 7. It's running really rich just smells like gas. From what I've been looking at it could be a short somewhere, low fuel pressure or 10 other things. Any got some insight?
  19. Thanks! Eventually I want to out the HP44 and 9 I have in it. Log arms and locked, but thatbwont be for a while. Right now just trying to keep it rolling. It's got a bad misfire I'm trying to figure out. As for forums theres a few. Mallcrawlin is good and more geared to serious builds. Jeepforum is probably the most active but there's some DUMB stuff that gets out on there. Last one was NAGCA but no one really on there.
  20. So to answer a few things. - I have bench seats so no car seat in the middle. Plus the wife isn't fond of me having her in the car since no airbags. - Can't sell the WJ, I just spent a good chunk of change to build it. Has a brand new motor, lift, suspension, etc. Hindsight should have passed on the WJ, but I still love it. - I can only effectively store 2 cars right now. I have a spare spot on the side of my house I can eventually park, but need to remove a tree there. That can't happen until spring. - I know how to wrench on stuff bit it would be nice not to all the time. Was part of the reason we ditched my wife's KJ and got her a GX460. Yes it's more but no way was going to pick up a newer jeep and deal with the fiat junk. -Id rather not have another "beater". I do have a clean 99 XJ that I was planning to flip but may just swap the MJ and the XJ for a bit till I can get the WJ squared away. Damn cars are a labor of love and a fn money pit.
  21. Talk me off the cliff..... So thinking about letting the comanche go and picking up something more family friendly as my second car. I LOVE the MJ but in this past year it really hasn't gotten to be driven and isn't really effective as a second car. Issue is being only able to carry two asses and we got three. My daughter isn't old enough the really ride in it shes 3. She loves to sit in it and say shes driving but most times thats about the most action the MJ gets. The MJ isn't my daily anymore as the WJ has picked up that. I'd rather drive the MJ sometimes but can't because I need to drop the kid off at daycare. Reason this all came up is the WJ got a really bad misfire and I had to limp it home after dropping off my daughter and now it's out of commission until I can get some time. Now rationally having a second car I would have just taken that but.......MJ doesnt work. The plans I had for the MJ where to do a restomod one day but I just don't see that day happening soon. I'd hate to let it go a regret it but also don't want to just have it around because. Only vehicle I ever regretted selling was my old k5. It was fully restored and just awesome. The vehicle I'd like to get is my old benz back it was a 09 c350. Figure if I'm going to have a garage queen might as well be nice. So thoughts?
  22. Thing is pretty awesome, but the rear end has a terrible departure angle. Should have stretched that WB but in any case would be awesome to roam around in.
  23. Never heard of Azzys before today. know about boostwerks and people like it. Look about the same other than the azzy's look prettier but also cost more.
  24. I mean if the XJ wasn't already a chick magnet.....this just bumps you up to a new level.
