Project Uncompahgre - 1989/1999 MJ
Smokeyyank replied to USN_JeepMJ's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
I always get a little excited when I see an update. Just an amazing build. -
I have a kenwood ksc-sw11 in my WJ and really don't want to go with a built in amp. It's ok in the WJ and fine because of space constraints but I want an actual sub. I've had plenty of systems in different vehicles in the past. Space wise I'm not worried about it because the MJ is simply a pleasant driver and occasional hauler. So behind seat space isn't used for anything other than jumper cables and tie downs.

I know this has been talked about a few times but wanted to get some more thoughts and opinions. Right now considering basic deck, upgrading the speakers and getting a sub with an amp. My question is for those that have done it you feel an amp as needed for the speakers or is the deck enough? Since the Cab is tiny I don't think an amp would be needed but wanted to see. Since I plan to get a sub with a amp don't just want to hear bass either. In my WJ I have a decent system but it's not that loud. I can crank it all the way and it's ok but I wouldn't mind more. For the sub I'm thinking a 10" with a mono amp. I don't need a rattle any feelings loose but I want to feel some bump in my trunk. In regards to amp and sub placement what has worked?

Things is going to be awesome. If you don't mind me asking where did you pick up the engine and what was the cost? -
Ha I saw that the other day.... all I can think of it back to the future.

So I checked. I have two but both have small tears in the corners. If you're interested let me know.

Rocky Road Outfitters Lift
Smokeyyank replied to JWheeler331's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Are you planning to regear it? If not I'd stick to 31's. OME makes great stuff. I've heard mixed reviews on rockyroad as the vendor though. -
Gothca, let me look and I can let you know. I'm 99% positive I have a good one from a slider.
-
Was it for a slider or full piece glass? I have one possibly two. I'd have to poke through the shed to see.

Nice! I'm off simms and Belleview. I'll definitely have to say what's up next time. Maybe try to do a trail run this summer. WJ can do some things. Not much but some.

Here's my setup. Sorry lighting kind of sucks. Mouse and keyboard are wireless. They plug into the docking station via USB plugs. No printer as I do everything with PDFs

Pretty sure this has been posted here before. https://denver.craigslist.org/cto/d/evergreen-1988-jeep-comanche-tonka-truck/7438178167.html

Without pics hard to tell. The only thing going based on the description is no rust, but I'd want to see the floor boards. Rest of it isn't a desirable package. And would still take someone a couple grand if they wanted to get a 4.0 and few other options. If it's really clean I'd say 5k if not closer to 2-3k. Just depends.

Oh it scoots. Just had gobs of torque.

Got around to taking care of some things. First was the battery and installing new 2g wires. I ordered them a while ago from Jeepcables.com. Overall, really great kit super well built. My issues are the length of the alternator wire is about 2 ft too long and a few of the connections needed to be bent in order to fit. Install took about 2 hours of which most was tweaking things and taking out the old cables. Battery I upgraded to an Odyssey. After burning through a few of the Costco Interstates decided it was time. They just haven't lasted and I've been wanting to get a AGM battery. After everything is done really happy with it. Starts up quick regardless of temperature and idle has smoothed out as well. Old wires were beat up so something to be excepted. Next up was finally replacing the entire power steering system. The old box was starting to get really sloppy and the pump was on it's way out. Not to mention the leaks from all the old hoses. For the pump I got a new ones from Lares. Ran one in my XJ and never had problems. For the box I went with a redhead. Steering is drastically improved. Box is nice and tight and turns smooth. No more leaks either so huge win.

Check the floor boards! 2wd 4 banger isn't the "most" desirable but MJ's are just cool. Price with out pics I'd say 3k. Could be more could be less but need to see it to give you an diea.

I know the voltage is good. I have a traildash in there that gives me the digital readout. Alternator was just replaced as well. I don't drive the WJ that much but it at least get driven once every two weeks and sometimes more. If it was sitting for weeks I could understand it dying but it's just been a slow death with them. It has been slowly losing cranking power over time. Last week it was cold here and that killed it. The time before was because it had been sitting for a while getting the engine rebuilt but even disconnected cables and it never being discharged before killed it. Cables obviously could be part of the problem. I already have new 2G ones to put in. Was just wanting to wait for a bit before doing the battery but just fast tracking that a little. After going back and forth I decided to get an Odyssey. When compared to the cost of the other basic AGM, $300 for the odyssey vs $175-220 it offers more for what I need. I'll snag a trickle charger too. Thanks for the info.
