Appreciate the input and heavily leaning towards keeping the 92, doing the ax15 and 4wd swap with the suspension set up you mentioned. The waggy axles are overkill for it. I don't need lockers and the rest of the fun stuff on there. Ideally just a hp30/8.25 combo, lsd rear with 4.10 or 4.56s depending on tire size. 31s are what I was thinking. Hard part is trying to part with the pioneer, was my first MJ and just has that special spot in my heart. Could always keep it and make it a street truck if my wife doesn't suffocate me in my sleep before then. First is getting the project MJ somewhere. Probably just part it out, tons of goodies in there.

Hahaha, same.

True and I have about just fixing it, keeping it as is and holding on to it for value. I just don't know realistically how much more a 92 gets over others. I've seen some prices but kind of all over the place. With that though what about model specific? Would making it a 4wd "Pioneer" (IDK if they had them in 92) drive that value lower? In it's stock form it's just so blah. White, automatic, boring wheels, bench seat. I love cruisn the red Pioneer around, and other than a little lift, turbines, some meatier rubber, axles and few other little things not much else I plan to do.

Any more pics you could post up?

Sweet! Awesome to see this getting off the ground. As it relates to the body kit. Does it involve removal of any sheet metal?

Lol to clarify a lowered 4wd Jeep.

Need some opinions. Just recently acquired a decently clean and stock 92 MJ, 2wd, SWB, auto. This bring my MJ count to 3, which is too many for me. So now I'm at a cross roads of what to do, can't keep them all and need to sell 2. In the stable is a 89 parts MJ (currently for sale), my 88 Pioneer 4wd and the new 92 2wd. Initially I was planning to convert the 92 to 4wd and swap over most the parts from my 89, but not sure if I'm 100% on board with that. Then I just saw the street Comanche reproduction kits and got some cogs spinning how awesome that could be with a 5spd swap and some other bolt ons. Which ever route I go the MJ is purely a pleasure vehicle for driving around town and occasional home depot run. I wheel the WJ so don't need something to go off road. I'm not going to keep anything 100% stock (so don't say keep it stock) but not going to chop anything up or clap it out. So thoughts?

Happy new year! While carefully curating my selection for the evening I stumbled into a old friend. Man Beer from Bull & Bush. It's a Colorado IPA, really well balanced between malt and hops. B&B and Man beer have a special spot in my heart. My good friend used to live right next to B&B after our ungrad so it was our regular spot. Practically lived there and Man Beer was the go to. So much of a spot I have one of the tap handles on my kegerator. It's still one of the few places I get giddy to goto. Highly recommend stopping in if you're ever in Denver. Over in Glendale which is by Cherry Creek. Place has been a staple for decades. I remember talking to my grandpa and tell him we found this great brewery. When he asked what it was he was like, "Used to be my watering hole! Can't believe it's still around." Hope everyone has a safe and fun new years!

Interior wire harness swap
Smokeyyank replied to Warren99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I swapped in a 89 ecm into my 88, it was plug and play. I think it only matters on the automatic and needing to have the same. Manual doesn't matter which one you swap. -
The unsprung weight of those is insane and not ideal for unibodies or smaller rigs. Mainly see them on full size, body on frame rigs. Be better off with tons.

3” lift on a Comanche advice
Smokeyyank replied to Warthog's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What are you building it for? Are you fine chopping fenders? What's your budget. That will determine a lot. Gears are dependent on your transmission and engine. If you have a 5 banger will need to go deep. 4.56 with a manual you can be fine up to 35s but 4.88s more ideal, 5.13s if 2.5. Auto 4.88s work but 5.13s are more ideal for 35s If you just want to cruise around I'd stick to 33s max 31s ideally, do control arm drop brackets, upgrade the lower arms and OME 3.5 coils, rear either new leafs or AAL with a 1" shackle and decent shocks. If you're wheeling long arms, either 3 or 4 link, no radius arms, new leafs and 2" shackle and 4" coils. If you want 35s you need more lift, like 6", not to mention the slew of other things for 35s. -
Got a new Akorn Kamado grill that has an auto temp feature so tried my hand at smoking. Had the regular Akorn before and I absolutely loved it, but setting the temp took some work so never smoked in it. It was starting to get beat up and I got the new one for insanely cheap. I went it to this completely blind, never smoked anything before but have always wanted to. Did a chicken with a homemade chili lime seasoning and added pecan wood chunks. Overall came out decent. Next go around think I'll brine it and I messed up not soaking the wood chunks so little on the unsmokey side. Also think I'll mix up some seasoning and rubs. Temp was 250 for about 4 hours to get 165*. Fun experience overall.

Welp its beer 30. Picked up a few that I've had before but never put them up here. First is Chasing Ghost from Epic. Double dry hopped double IPA at 10%. Grabs you by the short and curlies and is dangerously smooth. I rarely grab them but wanted something with some octane to kick off the night. Next is Single speed from Vail brewing. It's a Kolsch style and super delicious. Really smooth and well balanced. Not a typical fall/winter beer but all around a great choice in my opinion.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. I'll see if I can snag them cheap enough.

Thanks for the replies. It's these. He wasn't planning on selling them was just cleaning out some XJ parts. He asked what I was putting the turbines on and I told him the MJ and then it's what spurred the conversation of oh I have these...... Really I don't have any use for them other than selling them unless someone wants them and I'd be happy to grab them. He didn't have a price in mind and just said make an offer but I didn't want to get something that wasn't "special" or offer over what they are worth.
-
Random question, just picked up some turbines from a guy and he also had some factory Comanche side steps. I'm personally not interested in them but was wondering if they're worth anything or if I should just pick them up.
-
Haha too accurate. More fitting if, I've never actually been camping but I like the look.......

Geez, I've been slacking. Haven't posted anything here for over a year and I know I've been drinking my fair share. Anywho, shifted away from IPAs lately and been drinking more pilsners and lagers. My go-to as of late has been helles style lagers. Picked up this Beer Flavored Beer from Willey roots in CO. It's decent not a top pick for me. One I've really been liking is Lightshine Helles from Wibby.

85 Cherokee 2 door
Smokeyyank replied to Smokeyyank's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Thanks for the info. I'm not looking to buy it. Just saw it pop up and was wondering from the expert point on how rare it was. -
No clue if this is a rare find or not, but I would think so based on the year and configuration. Thoughts? https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/cto/7559370954.html

Someone said they got it for about $2k after copart fees. Just nuts

Speaker Location And Recommendations!
Smokeyyank replied to thousender's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just put in an entire system in mine. I went with a kicker speakers and a sub all around. I got them from Crutchfeild all of them were the scratch and dent ones so I saved a good chunk of cash. Wiring I went with knuconcepts for the amp and speaker wire. Great quality for the price. I did a 5ch amp so ran all new wire for the speakers. Front I went with 6.5" they fit without needing to modify the door cards a lot but I probably should have went with 5.25. Rears 4x6 and a 8" sub. Overall, very happy with it. -
