  1. The article is about a Durango. Higher octane than E85??? Its already 105.
  2. Why would you want to do that? The milege is around 25% worse with E85, which more than negates the cost savings. Not to mention how many fuel filters you are going to go through while the alchohol cleans 20 years worth of crap out of your fuel system. Milage is actually about 10-15% worse.... Our 'new to us' Dodge Baby-mobile has average 19.5mpg, on E10. 18.6mpg on E85 for the three weeks we have had it... Pump price today..... E10 $3.25 per gallon E85 $2.59 per gallon As far a calling the plug, the injector I emailed for an answer. Here is some more info regarding E85 10. Using E85 ethanol will get 50% less mileage per tank. There are some stories floating around about 50% reduction in mileage or twice as much ethanol is needed. Some of the automakers who introduced Flex vehicles did a terrible job with the fuel management systems that mileage did decrease as much as 50%. After some trial and error, the automakers have significantly improved their Flex systems and mileage conservation is within reasonable losses such as 5-15%. Conversion Kits like the Full Flex have been around for over 20 years. Realistic losses range from 5-15% as well. 11. Vehicles need more E85 ethanol so there is less power. It is true that a vehicle does require more E85 than regular gas since the amount of energy per unit of ethanol is less than that of gas. Ethanol has a lower ignition temperature so the engine overall will run cooler increasing power. It also burns slower so instead of just burning out in one violent explosion forcing the piston down, it continues to burn the entire length of the piston stroke expanding gases more evenly and smoothly. So running E85 will give any engine more power over any pump gas. Also E85 is 105 octane. Gas comes in 85, 89 and 91 octane. The 105 octane of E85 will help to eliminate knocks and pings. All of these benefits will make an engine run smoother and quieter.
  3. I'd love to get it and save it from that state of disaster...... That thing is a LONG way from being usable. If it was further west, I'd swear I know the seller of that thing.
  4. I remember some places in Beaver County, PA that looked like they fell out of Deliverance....... And we won't even get started on Tremont,PA.
  5. Thats an awful big caliper bolt! Mine are 5/16 or 8mm (those 2 sizes are SO close, it doesnt even metter) 12pt. Mine were also on my 90. On my 88 they were that goofy 7mm allen bolt. But when dealing with Jeep, I've learned just about anything is possible.....
  6. I saw a Stratus will a smashed front end... And a double airbag deployment, crazy b*@$£ was still driving it around. No headlights, no turnsignals. Air bags hanging out the dash, and duct taped to the steering wheel.
  7. If you need help proofreading stuff, I would be glad to help.
  8. Tuning fork = pickle fork= tie rod seperator. Were those 12mm bolts on the calipers, 12-pt? We are going to want to make sure any anomalies like this are detailed. Rounding tools up expecting to do a project, only to find out you actually need something special can be a killer..... If you would like someone to proofread your stuff, I would be glad to help out.
  9. WOW!!!!!! Good thing those four little letters were on the hood, and not some piece of tinfoil ricer........ BTW, if someone 'took out' 50' of concrete guardrail it either was faulty to begin with, he was driving something LARGE or extremely fast. Steel reinforced Bridge deck rail is some very heavy stuff. A couple of my customers make precase bridge decks. I saw hoist sling snap and drop a section of deck rail onto a trailer, and the trailer deck collapse under the impact..
  10. How about an electric heater out of a conversion van??? There were lots of GM and Ford vans that had electric aux heaters installed in the back of them...
  11. Hmmmm...... Would a lunch-box install be acceptable? I'll be installing one in my XJ, but it is in a D-35.
  12. My club owns a 30 degree ramp...... We bring it out at meet and greets, and events at the local stealership. Usually alot of folks will give it a try. People love to see what they ramp at.
  13. We passed on buying one, because of the limited room inside, and the fact the dealer couldn't even give us a guess on the delivery time of the CRD.....

    Beaterjeep...

Prayers from our family. If you need anything, please just holler.....
  15. Here is a snapshot of some of the bills..... (edited by me, no need to post something defensive, I apologize) The website runs about $500 a month. The newsletter costs about $1000 four times a year. United Four Wheel Drive membership about $10,000 And the website bill has improved since the change. The amount of bandwidth used by NAXJA is unbelievable.....
  16. I relly don't understand that mentality. Why not restrict their usage of the other forums and let them sell XJ stuff to...NAXJA members? I think they're shooting the wrong foot. I'm just sayin'. Way,Way,Way,Way,Way too many scammers, idiots, morons, parts whores, etc.
  17. NAXJA made a quite needed change in where non-members are allowed to post. One of the changes was to not allow non-member posts in the classifieds anymore.
  18. I don't shop at RicerBoys unless nothing else is available......
  19. Yep... After 91 they reversed the polarity on the fuel gauge. You are using the old sender, and a new gauge. You need to swith one or the other.
  20. You mean the driveshaft stopped turning????? Cause if it was still turning, I would bet you either stripped the ring gear, or trashed the spider gears...
  21. CarFax is garbage..... I sold a truck to a couple, that came back a week later screaming about how I lied to them about the history of the truck..... They claimed CarFax showed a serious accident with the truck. They showed me the CarFax report to me. Their report showed an accident on the truck.... Problem is the truck was sitting in my Dad's barn waiting for me when the accident supposedly happened.
  22. There was a guy on the Yahoo Comanche site who did it. it turned out really well. But IIRC he lost it in Hurrican Katrina.
  23. I keep checking the junkyards...... Thought I had a Nissan diesel. But I'm thinking that beer can sized hole in the block would have caused a problem or two....
  24. Take a look at the transfer case shifter bezel. If it says 4wd full-time on one setting, then you have a Select-trac. If there is only 2wd, 4 hi, n, 4lo thats a Command trac. If I was a betting man, you still have a vaccuum leak somewhere.
  25. A 'smaller Izuzu-max'.... Izuzu already makes them. They offer several 3 and 4-cyl diesels in other markets other than the North America. And they offer a 4-cyl diesel in their commerical truck line. Same with Ford using the Ranger. Mazda already has small diesels in other markets in their version of the Ranger. The issue becomes getting them ready for certification. I couldn't believe how hard it was to get a Diesel Libby. When they were introduced I went to a dealership to test one out and they couldn't get any at that time. They finally got one about 6 weeks later, and it was already sold but I got to drive it. I was really amazed. Quiet, rode nice and powerful. The drawback is that it was small inside. I would love to get one in the Commander.... That would make one nice cushy tow rig.
