  1. Congrats Jim, well deserved mjotm for many reasons. Hope to meet you in person someday and hope to have half as much wisdom as you someday also. Buck.
  2. Hey Ben, that's funny, I wasn't trying to rub it in. Pause. I had to go turn up the music I was listening to, the ac just kicked on. Now, that's rubbing it in! Take care, Buck.
  3. Great work Ben, definitely feel your pain talking about propping up the lift gate and then knocking it out and it smashing onto your head or back. Nice job on the boxes. How has the camper hinge mechanism held up after all these years, esp up north? Also, has it affected the integrity of the fiberglass? Sorry, I ask weird questions. Buck.
  4. I love mine because I bought it more than 22 years ago and has been a great vehicle. It has 246,000 miles and still runs great. I get it painted every 10 years and it looks great also. More and more often getting attention because of the rarity of it. It isn't 4wd but I don't take it off road anyway. It is great to own an mj!!!
  5. Great find and welcome to the madness! Hope you enjoy your very rare UK truck and hope we can help out in any way. Since that truck spent at least a little time in Florida it's a good chance it doesn't have a lot of rust, visible or hidden. Good Luck! Buck.
  6. Thanks for posting this question, I was wondering that myself. Since I don't take it off road and get it wet too often I think that future project just got taken off the list. Sorry for the hi-jack but thanks for the input. Buck.
  7. Mine started with my first mj, an 86 4 cyl automatic. I think I was frustrated with the lack of power I had but I loved the look and ride of that mj, so I bought a brand new one, 4.0 5 speed. That was 22 years and 246,500 miles ago. Buck.
  8. Congratulations! Enjoy your time with her. Hope your wife is doing well also.
  9. Hey Rockmj, glad to hear you are keeping it and hope to meet you in person someday. Mine is an 89 pioneer and the first time I had it painted I was going to put the pioneer stripes back on but the painter glued the comanche decals in the wrong place, so I grew to like it w/o the stripes. The second time I had it painted (I get it painted every ten years!) the painter (different shop) went with a little darker grey metallic and also painted the the fender flares, bottom section and cowl all gloss black. It is not stock but I feel I don't have to repaint door jams and it is so close to stock color I don't think purists will mind. Sorry I can't help with the codes, mine was the light grey. Buck.
  10. Great story, thanks for sharing and look forward to the progress. It's great to "fall" into projects! I am also amazed you found a rust free bed.
  11. If you want to listen to something different try Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. You might hate it but you might like it. Bela Fleck is his real name, he plays a banjo unlike you will ever hear, his drummer goes by the name Future Man and he plays a contraption he invented. The bass player is Victor Wooten, if you know any bass players and they haven't heard of Victor, they probably haven't played very long. Buck.
  12. Just had to turn the tv up because the ac just turned on. Oh it's like that all the time here. Cold here means you wear socks. Sorry, had to do that. June through Sept. sucks so it's these months that I really enjoy living here.
  13. Nice Rich, hope to see that mj in person. Maybe Sunday even. Great job. Buck.
  14. Congratulations! It is the most awesome thing in the world. Glad everything is going well now. Ours will be 8 in April and it seems like yesterday we were bringing her home. She just took a spill on her scooter today, another stepping stone. Take care of your wife and enjoy, take lots of pics, the baby changes every day. In 12 to 15 years remember this: the true difference between having a boy or a girl: having a boy means you only have to worry about one penis, having a girl means you have to worry about every penis!
  15. Sorry I couldn't help it but it appears you might need to invest in a big liquor cabinet. What is that in the background? Buck.

    Oil Change

That's hilarious. Thanks for sharing. Reminds me when I had to use a screwdriver through the filter, ended up with bloody nuckles on a very cold midwestern winter day many years ago. That was the last time I did it myself, not worth the headache I cause myself. Buck.
  17. 246,000 and going strong. No rebuild yet, still running strong. Replaced the fuel injectors 8 years ago, nothing else engine wise. Can't wait to get to a quarter million!

    Florida?

I would love to help out and hang out also. I think I can make it on the 5th. Unfortunately I have a gig on the 4th which is taking up most of the day. As for tools, I have mostly small stuff and would be happy to bring anything I have. Let me know! Buck.
  19. Thanks Rich, sorry didn't realize Damien is your nephew, that's really cool. I'm sure his parents are a lot more thankful to you for the truck than my brothers are for getting my nephews interested in drums. Might be going to the pnp in Daytona on Tuesday. Will keep an eye out for the light blue interior. Anything else? Also, we do need to try to get a mng for all of us Central Floridians. Any ideas or should we all invade the next Jeep pow wow?
  20. Hey Rich, this project is looking great already. I think your son will be greatly appreciative, if he isn't already. My daughter will get my truck someday whether she wants it or not. I think she will look forward to getting it someday. She already likes rolling under it on the creeper. Maybe I can get her to change the oil soon, even though she's only 7.
  21. That is a great move. It will be great if you need it and you have peace of mind until you do. We have our portable generator in the garage. Would love to get a permanent one. After '04 here in Central Florida it's the best thing to have. I stood in line for 4 hours with my 3 month old daughter to get the one I have. It was worth it. It powers a 120 window unit ac, the fridge and several fans. For us it's always brutal heat and humidity, I can't imaginie what it's like when it's brutal cold with no power.

    Best forum

I 2nd that. Bunch of great people who give great advice with no attitude. I don't know if I'd have some of these guys over for dinner, but I'm a musician, doubt they'd let me know where they live.
  23. I am a musician, drums and percussion. I own a teaching studio and have about 40 private students each week. I still play about 40-50 gigs a year, no more bars! Most gigs are private party, church etc. My job is what put most of my miles on the mj for so many years, now I only use it when I have to take a lot of equipment to a gig.
  24. That's tough. So sorry to hear of your loss. It is obvious he was a great man and will be missed.

    Milestones.

Mine just turned over to 246k the other day. Since it isn't my dd it will take a while to get to 250k. Will definitely take a pic when that happens.
