Wiper control module
Airborne Janitor replied to KANTANKRUS's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think you should pull that old wiper motor and swap in a late model XJ one and upgrade the ground. You can test for voltage then as well. -
Those TPS screws are a super goofy size, like 5.5mm or something. You're not gonna have any luck finding them aftermarket. Talk to Jeff Leigh jeff@strokedjeep.com he can tell you the exact size and may have some, I sent him a bunch of them when he bored my renix TB. Only place I've been able to find those screws are the junkyard.

Coolant temp gauge
Airborne Janitor replied to cdtx_2011's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I replaced an aftermarket coolant temp sensor with a Mopar one and watched my temps drop 15* at the gauge. Mopar 53005309 is what you want. -
Swapping Bulbs for LEDs.
Airborne Janitor replied to Spinnakerblue89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
LOL they've been going out of business for like 2 years now. -
So my MJ has developed this really annoying "ticking". It does it on start up, but then goes away once the motor warms up. But it returns once revs get past 1800 RPMs. It doesn't matter what gear, what speed. It's gotten significantly louder and more annoying. I put a stethoscope on the motor to try to pinpoint the location but all I can tell you it's coming from the front of the motor. Is this something worse than a sticky lifter? Thanks in advance. 20230605_074703.mp4

Cruise Control issue
Airborne Janitor replied to Whitaker717's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'd wager you have a vacuum leak somewhere. I'm running 33s with 3.55s and this doesn't happen to me. Check the defroster vents to see if air is blasting out of them when your cruise is pushing the limit. Check for cracks in your vacuum lines and vacuum canister. Install an inline vacuum check valve (GM 14047619) near the intake manifold. -

There's always been confusion regarding these daystar bump stops and compatibility. Thanks for clearing this up. -

Stock Leaf Spring Leaf Count?
Airborne Janitor replied to Bomberjeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Looks like you got a redneck leaf pack, where someone added an extra spring right above the bottom load spring. See how that leaf is longer than the springs on top of it? Actually looking at the 2nd photo that spring isnt even centered on your leaf pack. Unless you separated the pack? -
LEDTailgate Light
Airborne Janitor replied to Drahcir495's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Seems every pickup I see around here with those tailgate lights they're never functioning properly. LEDs out, flickers, weird stuff happens when wired to the blinkers. Probably mostly due to installer error/laziness, but just be wary. -
Took me 6 years from the time I bought it to where I could actually drive it. I've been there, I had my truck untouched for almost a year. The big things holding me back were time and money. So I made the time and I made the money to where my goal was I need to get this thing mobile and this is how much I'm willing to spend. I won't even tell you how much I spent to get my $900 MJ going, and it's still not done, but I'm glad I kept at it. Having a truck I wanted as a teenager, and now being able to drive around with my daughter in it is priceless.

Renix to HO Coolant Temp Sender
Airborne Janitor replied to howeitsdone's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You could get an HO t-stat housing and then use HO sensor for a clean install.
