  1. My 88 Laredo had them.
  2. If the PO used an HO intake gasket, you could very easily have a vacuum leak between the intake manifold and head. At idle, spray that area with carb cleaner to diagnose. Do the Tips!! And here's what you need to know about HO vs Renix: HO myth buster Renix in 90 made 182 HP. HO in 91 made 190 HP. That's 8 HP difference. HO only made more HP than Renix at higher RPMs and not a bit more torque. HO had a 58 mm throttle body versus a 52 mm throttle body on a Renix. That’s 20% more air available through the HO throttle body. The HO also had a better design header. See where I'm going with this? It’s only a 4% horsepower increase….. The whole 8HP was not mostly from the head, but from the bigger TB and better exhaust manifold. Put a 60mm TB from www.strokedjeep.com on your present manifold using the Renix head, eliminate the "crush" in your headpipe with proper re-routing, and go for it. HO stands for Highly Overrated. __________________
  3. I don't care what new gimmick Fram comes out with. I will NEVER support a company like that who sold such pieces of crap to unsuspecting vehicle owners and shops for so many years.
  4. The trans could care less. It goes into the gear the solenoids select.
  5. Do this while you're at it. CRUISER'S MOSTLY RENIX TIPS IMPROVING THE FUEL PUMP GROUND JANUARY 3, 2016 CRUISER54 49 COMMENTS The fuel pump and fuel tank sending unit ground at a sheet metal screw up behind the spare tire on an XJ, and behind the driver’s taillamp on an MJ. Not only is a sheet metal screw a lousy way to ground things, this ground path is long and travels through some connectors that are prone to corrosion and moisture. Locate the black wire on the HARNESS side of the fuel pump/sender 3 wire connector. Remove a 6″ length of the split loom covering. Strip back about 1/2″ of insulation from the BLACK wire. Take your new ground wire, preferably at least 14 gauge and 12 to 18 inches long as needed, strip it about 3/4″, and wrap it around the exposed part of the harness plug wire.Solder the connection. Tape it up and reinstall the split loom covering. At the other end of your new ground wire, add a crimp on eyelet. Attach the eyelet under a bolt that goes directly into the chassis. Be sure to clean the attaching point til shiny and apply OxGard to the contact surfaces.
  6. Exactly.... And what about adjusting the TV cable? That regulates the internal pressure of the trans. Low pressure = slow engagement and/or slipping.
  7. How in the hell can you make that determination on a trans issue when we know nothing about the basics? Fluid level and condition!!!!!
  8. CHECK THE LEVEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dex/Merc ATF. .Easily drained and refilled. Buy a gallon. Pull the plug. drain. Install plug and refill. Adjust the throttle valve cable.
  9. Or this: CRUISER'S MOSTLY RENIX TIPS RENIX OIL FILTER TO SAE FILTER JANUARY 3, 2016 CRUISER54 9 COMMENTS Tired of having a poor selection of oil filters for your Renix Jeep? Limited availabilty a pain for you? 20mm threads? We don’t need mumblemeter threads on our oil filters. Here’s a simple mod that allows you to use the very popular SAE threaded oil filters which are more readily available. The old standard 3/4″ SAE thread. You can purchase a new oil filter nipple from the dealer for under $10 and never be bothered again. Part number 53007563AB. It’s the one on the left. Or, grab one off a 91 and later XJ at the junkyard. Be forewarned though. You need a 7/8 wrench to remove a Renix nipple, but a 15/16 wrench for the later style. And just in case you need to replace your oil filter adapter o-rings, here’s a handy guide. Oil Filter Adapter O-Ring Sizes 87-90 Renix Model O-rings 0.799 x 0.103 AS568 size -117 1.296 x 0.139 AS568 size -219 2.484 x 0.139 AS568 size –230 Dealer Part Numbers for Renix. 10. "I've checked for intake leaks and I don't see anything" Did you put a wrench on the fasteners?
  11. I've had this box since 1993. Mostly Snap-On stuff. I had a bunch of tools for big trucks but sold them in 2004 since I have no desire to do stuff that heavy any more. The movable lift has come in very handy.
  12. B pillar interior lamp assembly for an Alfa Romeo Alfetta/Sport Sedan.
  13. That's cool. God always supplies a way out. Just we're too thick headed sometimes to see it. I quit drinking almost a year ago. I wasn't listening.......Nearly died. So thick headed I needed a REAL wake up call.
  14. Swap starters with the XJ...... Or, take the one off the MJ and take it apart. super simple. an old oil leak can foul them badly and frequently they can be brought back to life with a good cleaning using brake cleaner.
  15. Before anything else, go to www.cruiser54.com and complete tips 1 through 5. Plugs, wires, cap and rotor should be replaced every 30,000 miles. How are they? With the engine cold, check the intake manifold bolts to be sure they are snug.
  16. Uh-oh. I'm on a well............
  17. As soon as you get it home, we'll get our 3 best guys to brainstorm this with you.
  18. Make sure the intake manifold nuts aren't loose among a host of other things. Get it home and we'll give you some guidance then. Carnak is the second cousin to this guy.
  19. Yes. But you should go braided stainless at some point.

    size 14 socks

Darn Tough in Vermont has some good socks. Don't skimp!! I've worn wool year round in Arizona. Wool socks are cooler in summer.
  21. Get a booster/master from a 99 to 04 grand cherokee. be sure to grab the lines exiting the master cylinder. "booster upgrade" would be better search term.
  22. Or the intake manifold bolts are loose. Or the vacuum lines in the photo are shot.
  23. Don't bypass it. Listen to these ^^ guys.
