  1. Yes it is.
  2. 2.5 valves-lifters are not adjustable. First try changing the oil. If that doesn't do it try changing the oil weight. If that doesn't do it get new lifters. Sometimes I find the noisy lifter, rotate the engine until that lifter is on the high part of the cam lobe, and then smack it a good un with a BFH. That only works if the lifters are sticking.
  3. Rob. Just checked. the bid is $20. Is that yours? Jim
  4. Holy crap. Is that rust out down the side? or just a peeling decal?
  5. Right now scrap is going for $220 a ton. J20 is 2 ton, Thats $440. Nobody around here will pay that for it. Come get it, it's yours.
  6. As everybody pretty well knows by now, I am a dedicated Jeep nut. Probably owned over 70-75 of them in my life. Got over 2 dozen in the yard now. Gone to the extreme to keep them running and on the road, but sometimes you just got to admit defeat. I got 1975 J20, 360, 4spd that I been using for snow plowing. I've had it for maybe 12 years now. Probably gets 8-9 miles to the gallon of gas and 60-70 miles to a qt of oil. When it gets hot you can't shift the tranny without shutting off the engine first. This afternoon I went out to prepare it for the winter and couldn't get it started. Tried everything and it just wouldn't fire. So sadly, monday morning I'm going to get my pistol and put a bullet thru the hood and then to the salvage yard.Any body want a set of Dana's? they're the only things on it still good. And the grill, which I already removed. Taps, gently playing in the background. :USAflag:
  7. Well said. And as for Ford bashing, It's just part of the game, American heritage if you will. Owned over a dozen of them myself and never had a complaint with any of them. But don't tell anybody that and if you do I'll deny having said it.
  8. It's just a piece of metal with a couple bends and holes in it. Make one. I think a S10 could be made to fit without too much trouble.
  9. A recent survey revealed that 86% of the Fords built in the last 20 years are still on the road. The other 14% made it home. :rotf: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump:
  10. Withdrawing my bid. Get 'em Rob, Jim

  12. Anybody can get ticked off and frustrated at a seeming endless problem. I mean I've even done it. I predict that within a year he''ll have another Jeep and be back. Maybe not the MJ forum but still a Jeep crowd.
  13. Considering what your getting, seems reasonable. I placed a jack on top of my axle and and the floor of my MJ.I then jacked it up until I had 5.5 inches of clearance. Cut a 4X4 into 2 pieces 5.5 inches long and placed them between the top of the axle and the frame. Then removed the jack. Rides a little rough but didn't cost no $1000.
  14. '89 XJ,4.0, AW4, everything stock, 15MPG.
  15. A little heat to soften the adhesive, no open flame tho. Push a putty knife down behind the baddge being careful not to scratch the paint.
  16. Unless you just need some minor piece it's better and cheaper to buy a complete donor vehicle than individual parts from a JY. That way you can see how, if, it runs, Have it there where your working and don't have to keep making trips to the JY for little things you forgot, etc, etc. And when your through sell what's left.
  17. It was dark when I looked at it. Just made sure the front clip wasn't damaged and the motor sounded good. Know more about tomorrow when it's light.
  18. Just push it back in. No harm done.
  19. Coincidence. Just got in 30 minutes ago with a '97 Grand Cherokee that I'm going put everything from it into a '89 Comanche. 4.0, auto, don't know yet if it's AW4 or 42RE or what. 4WD. Including front clip. Keep in touch, compare notes.
  20. Location?
  21. First replace the thermostat as previously recommended. Their are so many vacuum lines and gadgets that it is very easy to miss a bad one. First remove the vacuum lines, one at a time, from the manifold. See what the motor does. That should give you a clue as to which lines to look at closer. Block the opening on the manifold. With the importance vacuum plays in the system now a vacuum tester is nice to have. One with a hand pump to evacuate the line and a gauge.
  22. 2 . 1 upper, 1 lower
  23. ???? If there's nothing wrong with it, then just keep it.
  24. A couple years ago I had a '74 El Dorado convertable I was trying to sell. I had rebuilt this car from the ground up and it was perfect in every respect. When one Looky Lou asked me why I was selling it I told him cause it was stolen and I had received a tip the sheriff had located it and was on his way out to recover it. He didn't buy it. :grrrr:
  25. I am NOT going to submit a pic of a load of horse-donkey manure.
