  1. Ignored low oil pressure reading.
  2. Have you talked to the Owner, Manager of the building? You pay for the installation and point out it will enhance the apartments desirability to other renters when you leave. If that doesn't work get a tank mounted propane heater.
  3. You must decide what the truck is worth before the adjuster arrives. He will look at it and make a offer. If it's fair take it. Or he will pick out every fault on it. Be prepared to point out how easy those faults will be to fix. You point out the good stuff, All the work you've done to it. Emphasize the fact that it is rapidly becoming a collectors item. Check out Craigs List, EBay, online auto auctions and the CC for sale postings looking for similiar vehicles. Look for the higher priced ones to show him. Good Luck
  4. The Afgan's seem to be fond of cheap, Toyota sedans like older Corolla's and Corsica's. If your going to blow yourself and the car up, why get something expensive?
  5. I have 5 four cylinder motors with over 200K on them. One with 293,775 on it. How reliable do you want?
  6. I think we should have rehearsed first.
  7. What clearance do you have on the bearings? Did you mike the journals or just replace with standard?
  8. Wake me up when it's over,,,,,er, I mean when it starts.
  9. You better fear 'cause Jim is here Hide your women and bring out the beer.
  10. Not sure what it is out of. The markings on the side of the case are unreadable. The reason I think it is from a a V8 is because the filler tube comes up, out of the tranny as usual, then curves and go behind the engine, between the motor and firewall, with the handle now being on the left side of the motor. The converter from the 6 has lt gray with purple paint marking. The converter from the suspected V8 has lt gray with blue markings. Placed the two transmissions side by side all the fittins and connectors are different, but all the holes are in the same place so just have to swap everything out. I sure miss the old 4 cylinder Jeeps. They were easy to work on. Progress. HUMPH I believe Rob is right about the torque. Seems like I remember when a kid, we would swap 6 cylinder converters into V8's for a higher stall speed.
  11. When I put the Hog under a 18 wheeler, illegally parked, everything was settled except value of the bike. I was lying flat on my back, nose broke, jaw wired together, leg in a cast up to my hip and just feeling lousy. Adjuster offered me $5,000. I looked at him and suggested he better leave as I was getting another one of my dizzy spells and neck and headache that I had been getting ever since the wreck. Told him I was thinking of talking to (a well known ambulance chaser in the local area). He just looked at me and asked "how much"? $25 thou I said. He wrote out a check and left. Get better guy and don't let 'em short change ya.
  12. Doing a engine, transmission swap on a '94 ZJ. Unfortunately the engine and trans are from different donors. I believe the trans is from a V8 motor and I'm hooking it up to a 6. Should the T Converter be matched to the engine, or to the tranny? Or does it really make big difference? :dunno:
  13. Anything connected to the distributer? I believe they still had the vacuum advance.
  14. Take an old Ouija board. Place all the options around the outer ring. Spin the needle. About as good a method as any. I have at one time or another, used all the options you mentioned, plus a couple others. Cannot recommend one over another. Main thing is to get the engine clean, All the old crap, crud, oil, whatever you used for a flushing agent, everything out before filling with fresh oil.
  15. To me, the Haynes is Just a tad more on tech details. They're both mostly just a general reference, but not great on details. Follow Robs advice and go with the CD. Otherwise get the FSM.
  16. OS tested good, both resistance, 5ohms and voltage .5VDC.
  17. Yep, both level and with the back bumper 3 feet higher than the front.
  18. I can't figure this one out. You tell me what you think. 1989 XJ, 4.0, AW4, 2WD. I bought it about 10 months ago from a fella who said it was overheating and he couldn't fix it. After driving and checking I decided it had either a leaking head gasket or a cracked head. Removed head. Gasket looked like it may have been leaking. Couldn't tell for sure. Replaced it. Cleaned, magnafluxed head. No cracks. Left rear freeze plug showed seepage. Replaced all freeze plugs. Checked thermostat. OK. Checked temp gauge and sending unit. OK. Flushed block, radiator and heater core. Got a coffee can full of crap out of block. Put everything back together, burped system, went for test drive. Went 5 miles and was overheating so bad had to pull over and let cool down. Got it home and checked everything, NADA. Burped system. Topped off coolant. This went on for a month. I would drive it to town, 14 miles and it was steaming. Let it cool down, top off coolant and drive back home. It would be steaming. Like I said, this went on for a month. Then about a month ago I went to town. Temp gauge went up to 190 and stayed there. Ive put about 7-8 hundred miles on it with absolutely no problem. Temp goes up to 190. Stays there. I give up. Mileage is terrible, 15mpg, but it runs great. Any ideas? Jim :dunno:
  19. Some people just take the fun out of everything.
  20. Any possibility of overloading Pete's server and setting it on fire? Just wondering. :waving:
  21. Jack Webb has always played Sgt Friday. Ben Alexander was the original side kick and was replaced by Henry Morgan. Wish I could remember my GF birthday and where I left my tools that well.

    Photo Bucket

Has any one else been having trouble with Photo Bucket? For the last 2 days now, I've been unable to access the main page or upload photos. Can any one recommend another photo site that's any good? IE, better than PB.
  23. How come it takes a whole box of matches to start a campfire, but just a spark to start a forest fire? :dunno:

    Wasted

At 8;30 this morning I saw a radical muslim slip and fall into the Arakansas River. He broke thru the ice on impact and disappeared from sight, I immediatly rushed home and notified Emergency Services. It's now 6:45PM and nobody has showed up yet. I'm starting to think I may have wasted a stamp. :rotf:
  25. 20psi on a very high mileage engine is normal. It's also a warning that you don't want to be hard working or high revving the engine until you drop the pan and replace the bearings.
