A month ago I didn't know a Kindle from a elephants snot burger. As a direct result of feedback from CC members when i asked about it I gave my GF a Kindle for Christmas. Now I'm an expert on them. Well,,anyway knowledgeable. Kinda,,Apparently Kindles have a EMail address. You download the files you want as usual but use the Kindles email addy. They can then be downloaded using either USB or wireless. She's used wireless on hers and is happier than a coon dog on a hunting trip.

With the old points system the MSD was very useful. With the advent of electronic ignitions, which the MSD was, it really doesn't help all that much.

the neutral of safety switches
jimoshel replied to kbusch18's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No. The ign sw has to be in the 'start' position, or the gear shift has to be in P or R for a voltage to be present. -
A liter of Jack Daniels and the warmest hunting jacket i've seen in my life.

Grand Cherokee Tire Carrier

Normally there's a threaded re-enforcing plate behind the panel that the mounting bolts screw into. I've seen them both spot welded so when you remove the bolts the plate stays in place, and loose, so when you remove the bolts it falls either to the ground or inside the body depending on construction. -
the neutral of safety switches

Are you sure it's the switch? An improperly adjusted shift cable will do the same things your describing. -
Just got thru going over it and a 20 mile test drive. Runs great. Peppy little sucker. Got headers and dual exh. Looks like a 2and a half inch lift. Spacer in front, shackles in back. 31X 10.50X15 tires. 4.10 gears, 4wd works. Looks like every bushing on it was replaced. They're all red teflon, plastic, and match the spacers. New shocks. Got a coolant leak. Gotta check that out. Husky receiver. Looks original made for MJ. Not a universal or modified. At 75mph the steering was a little loose but OK up to then. I just may have me a new DD.

How about the push rod rubbing on the edge of the hole in the firewall? Try removing the return spring, make moving the brake pedal easier, and then stick your head under the dash whiling moving the pedal.

Check for play, sideways, on the pinion yoke and the output shaft from the transfer case..

!986 MJ, 2.8, 5sp. 168,XXX, runs great. Fella wanted $250 for it. After I pointed out it's obvious defects he took $200. Defects being the linkage for the rear brake proportioning valve missing. No radio and a rust hole the size of a marble under the clutch pedal. Also got an extra set of tires and wheels, 2 grills, headlight bezels, dashboard bezels and 2, 5 gallon buckets of extra pieces.

Where is this freakin" leakin' !!! ????
jimoshel replied to Jeep Man's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've found the most common is around the windshield, It comes in around the bottom corners and then behind the dash to the floor. Anyplace there is a seal is a possible source. The baby powder trick works very well. -
The Appy is a old line Appaloosa, direct descendant from the Chief Joseph herd. Got her from a breeder from the Western slope. The Mustang I got from the BLM. Came from the Rock Creek herd out of Wyoming. Both horses were raw 2 year olds when i got them. Trained them myself.

When I was a kid I got interested in leather work, wallets purses, belts that stuff. About 2 years ago I got a bug up my er, ear, and took it up again. 2 years ago I started this saddle. Finished it this morning. I didn't work on it full time. Just when I felt like it. Made my own tree. got the leather from D&W leather works, Ft Worth Tx. I think leather seats and interior for the MJ is next. A good fit on Ms Whiskey. Should be. I made it custom for her. A little big for Zip. Need another blanket for her. That's my little brother, Don holding her.

Good photos. How about a brief note on the equipment used.

Used gas tanks can't be shipped. DOT regs. Either find a used one locally or get one from EBay.Be sure and check EBay prices B4 ordering. I've seen over a hundred dollars difference from different vendors.

There should be a metal tag on it, same as the one in the pic. If it's missing then remove the cover. The ratio is stamped on the outer edge of the ring gear.

1" low country, 14" higher up. Wind wasn't as bad as forecast. Only tipped 3 Semi's over. One of them was parked on the side of the highway, just a couple miles down the road from me, and the wind tipped it over, then pushed it across the highway into the median.

Czech Republic huh? One of the countries I haven't been in. Flew over it but never been there.

And where would that be??

All lights dim when brakes are applied...
jimoshel replied to 87Chief's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A short in the brake circuit wiring, Either in the switch, the light sockets or the wiring. If the alternator was weak the battery would carry the load. Until it died. Weak alternators won't keep a battery charged. If it has a trailer connector would be the first place I'd look. -
Yeah,,,Me to,,Wait a minute. I do have one. Better get some pics ready. Anyway I want the '70 J4000

I'd sure hate to be in it if it got spotted by a shark hunter armed with a .50BMG
