I agree that the time was probably not as well spent as $100 on used arms, but seriously guys quit giving the guy a hard time. Your safety concerns are over the top. You are comparing one piece stamped factory arms to his monster garage quarter plate tank arms. There are no safety issues there.

I need to do a temporary 4x4 conversion until I decide what engine to swap the existing 4.0L. I have several late model AW-4 trannys out of XJs. Are they a direct bolt in against the older engines?

Thanks guys! I've been through a couple of MJ's, and am finally going to keep one and modify it. I am taking a '91 2wd swb doing a soa d44 swap adding a hp30 up front and 4x4 with a drivetrain swap. I was planning on using the drivetrain out of a '00 XJ, but I also been thinking about using the Dauntless Buick 350 out of my '70 J4000.

I spent some time on a search, but came up with nothing. I bought a MJ dana 44 rear that is already set up soa. I did not however get the u-bolt plates. Will I be able to use the plate that is currently under my d35?

I found one, so there is one less guy to compete against. :brows: Don't worry, it isn't very pretty, but rotten it is not.

The 401 J20 sold, but I do still have the '70 J4000 with the desireable 350/t-18a combo. I will be travelling from NE Indiana to Baton Rouge, LA to Dallas, TX starting 2/7/11.
