In over a year I've only seen one Comanche in a JY, A '87 MT. I got the D44, 23 gal tank, drive shaft and radio. Went back two days later for the motor, tranny and rear bumper. It was gone.

Factory Radio issues
jimoshel replied to 86ComancheXNate's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Probably not. If it's frayed then yes, replace it. There is another ground for the body, chassis. Look on the left fender well. Make sure it's clean and tight. There is also a ground connection for the dash. I'm not sure where it's at. I think by the steering column. -
If pushing on the face plate brings all the speakers in, then obviously the problem is in the radio itself. You have a loose wire or connection. It could be one of the controls on the panel or one of the wires coming out of the back of the set. Get the radio out to where you can reach everything and just begin probing, wiggling and touching everything.

We can't decorate the house - HOA rules 'NO NAILS PINS TACKS NOTHING CAN PENETRATE THE WOOD EXTERIOR' and so I said screw it. Did the MJ instead. Duct Tape?

Who are you trying to please? Yourself or others? It's your Jeep. Do what ya want with it. I like it. Jim

The D35 is very adequate for street use only. 4.10 or (4.11) for acceleration.

Every insurance co and every situation is different. At one time it was no problem to take the money and keep the car. Two things changed that. One was thieves stealing expensive cars. stripping them, keeping the parts. They would then wait until the ins co sold the car at salvage auction and buy it back, install the parts they previously removed and now have a legal, complete car for sale. Another ploy was to buy a wrecked car at auction, steal a identical car and swap all ID's between them. The main thing to remember is it is your car and you have the final say on any settlement. Every thing is negotiable so just talk to the adjuster. Jim

jimoshel replied to Alex from China's topic in For Sale
Alex, Ship me one item of everything you've got. Your nickel. I will install and evaluate them on my Jeeps. I will then write a honest evaluation on my findings and submit it to the forum. The products will be graded on looks, quality, fit, finish, etc. Not holding my breath 'till I hear from you. Jim :USAflag: -

"97 Swap Fuel Pump Question
jimoshel replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I got a in line fuel pump on my '97 WJ. It's got over 6,000 miles on it with no trouble.I put a inline fuel filter in front of it and cut the power lead going to the old fuel pump and hooked it to the new one. Works great. Jim -
Yes there is. However it only applies to motors as they are installed at the factory. You don't know if the motor has been worked on or not or if the crank has been turned by a PO. Remove a rod cap and look for marks on the underside of the bearing shell. This will tell you what they are. However it does not allow for wear on the journal. Measure them.

We don't have an exact destination, but are thinking of staying south since "junk" land is so cheap. Junk land? South? Suggest you stay South of the Mason-Dixon line and East of the Mississippi river.

I need new leaf springs, right?
jimoshel replied to LambertLambert's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Where is the load located? If it is between the axle and cab you need new springs. If it is between the axle, or over the axle, and tail gate that looks about right. -
What diameter on pre/post '92 ax15?
jimoshel replied to MJRemi's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Also waiting for a answer. Mine measured .595in.. Make it .6in. The mike was cold. Going by the numbers I'm guessing it to be a 1990 or a 2000. To dirty to be a 2010. -
First project was a 1934 Chevy,Pulled the original 216 'stovebolt and replaced it with a 260 from a '35 GMC. Cut the body off from the firewall back and just had the front seat for interior. Used it to chase coyotes and jackrabbits on the prairie. I was 14 at the time and it cost me the grand sum $7. Got $10 for it when I sold it, the pieces of it, to a junkyard a year later. Sorry. No pics.

Disguise your MJ to look like a peterbuilt or freightliner. He'll never notice.

Was in the girl scouts for 3 years before some rat squealed on me. Congrats BTM.

There is no round tag on the rear , or any place else. Just some dried glue. That's why I'm asking for help to identify it. CORRECTION: In my first post I said a 1989. That should (shud) have read 1988.

You misspelled 'Ire'. It shud b ir.

Got it. It's a good thing I didn't know anything about AX15's or I wouldn't have. It came out of a 1988XJ. If I had known AX15 didn't come out until '89 I wouldn't of even looked. It was obviously swapped in by a previous Owner. Can anyone help me identify the year and what transfer case? ID code on the trans reads 00?0 157. $150 and 2 hours of my time. Interesting skid plate set up. Obviously home brewed but looks like it could do the job. Drive shaft label Transfer case No. Sticky label is missing.

How big, bad, and where is the crack? I have repaired several blocks by welding and a couple more using JB weld.
