The factory hid my winch so well that as long as I've had the truck I still haven't found it. -
2MJ's neither stay runnin??????????
jimoshel replied to jeepaholic's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Start, runs, dies is usually a fuel problem. Put a pressure gauge on the test port and see what the reading is. Should be around 30psi. No gauge? As soon as it dies push the core in on the test port. If you have good pressure it will squirt out. If there is no pressure it will just dribble. Use caution, fire hazard. Suggest holding a rag to catch the gas. If you have good pressure, then it's electrical. If they've been sitting awhile, sometimes crud builds up on the filter, pump, injectors. A good cleaning will take care of that. -
Sounds like an alternator problem. First thing is check the battery. A dead battery will pull the alt output down. If the bat is good then check the alt. A volt meter across the bat terminals should read between 14-15VDC with the engine running. Some purist is going to jump in and say 14.6V. Whatever. Take it to a auto parts store. They can check both bat and alt, free.

Hidden Winch Design Proposal

Good idea and good work. I have always favored the idea of having the winch under the bed, directly behind the cab, enabling the cable to be run either forward or back under the truck, or even up thru the bed to a boom or A frame. How many people, besides me, cringe when they see ads for sale with winch spelled 'wench'? -
I think your conclusion is in error. Everyone knows CC moderators are as straight laced as your Aunt Gerties Girdle. :rotf:

30 hours for me. Wonder if he'd swap straight across for a '93 ZJ? -
Check your CPS. Often times just disconnecting and connecting the plug back up will do it. Wipes the corrosion from the pins.

116,2xx. GF just took off for town in it. So that's another 40 miles.

According to the paperwork in the glove box the tires have 2k on them. There is 2 dents on it. One on the drivers door and one on the right front fender. No radio, cruise doesn't work. Gonna get them fixed and flip it, or see if I can swap for a 90's MJ. That sucker does run. When I took it out for a test run, I tromped on it heading down the on ramp. It was on 95 and still climbing when I hit the highway and let up on it.. HUH..May just keep it.

For a week I was negotiating with a guy about buying his 91 YJ. We agreed on a price, $950. Yesterday at 9AM I called him and said I was on my way. He said OK. I arrived at a little after 10, 40 miles. He came out and informed me he just sold it. By a very strong will of effort I refrained from inflicting painful damage to his bod. However I did express in very clear terms what I thought of him and his ancestors, particularly those on his mothers side. Upon leaving I remembered seeing a green Jeep with a for sale sign on it in a driveway. A couple miles down the road and there it was. Stopped and checked it out. Owner told me it had been sitting since Nov. He went out to start it one really cold morn and it wouldn't start. Been sitting ever since. Battery was dead. We talked. Gave him $500 and he gave me the title and keys. Got it home and charged the battery. Tried to start it for 10 minutes with no luck. Trying to determine if it was spark or fuel I poured a little gas in the intake. It fired right off. So far I've put 50 miles on it and it runs great. 5.2 V8, auto. Got a short as it keeps killing the battery. Got it narrowed down to the door locks, security system. Explains the red wire hanging over the fender. So now,,,,,I went after a '91YJ and since that's what I brought back it must be a 91 YJ. You're good. 93 ZJ Laredo.

About a week back I asked for advice on purchasing a '91 YJ. Yesterday I got it home and would like to share pics of it.

Rear Axle Swap Request for Information

Go with the bigger brakes. There won't be that much engineering improvement and the wider drums will equal the heat dissappating fins. -
I have felt a deeper loss upon the passing of some of my 4 legged friends than I have with the passing of many people I knew. Cheyenne, I am sorry for your loss. Jim

No rear parking lights and only one turn signal?
jimoshel replied to NLargen90's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
How about stop light? On both sides? If just the driver side signal light is the only one working it could be one of two causes. A faulty wiring or socket or the signal switch. Don't overlook the most obvious , bad bulb. -
Are any of them around now? have any idea of how many were made? I've seen pics of 4dr XJ's with the back cut off and a MJ bed added.
