I've gone thru more tanks of gas than I have BA-10'S, so they can't be to bad. Seriously, I've got a couple XJ with over 200K on them and BA-10's. It's pretty well established that the AX-15 is superior to the BA-10, but I certainly wouldn't reject an otherwise nice Jeep just because of the transmission. Use it as a bargaining point to get the price down but don't reject it.

Not sure what kind of SAWZALL Keyav8r has. I cut up a 14X60 mobile home frame, 14 inch I beam making 10 cuts with a Makita Sawzall on one charge. He's right on about the blades tho.

It's either the head lamp switch (doubtful as the circuit breaker is self-renewing) or the socket it plugs into (probable). It's definitely not a gremlin. No such things. You talked to any WWII pilots lately? :rotf: The reason I suspect the CB is because when they go bad they either stay open or the contacts are stuck, welded together. It's the only thing in the circuit I can think of that might do it. No relays or I would blame it.

'86MJ on 31's, 2 lnch lift.

After backing off and thinking about it, a circuit breaker would seem like a likely culprit. The CB is on, in? the light switch. So guess I''ll carry a known good switch and wait untill it happens again.

1987MJ. Sport. A couple horses got out last nite so went to chase them down. Got in the truck, started it and pulled the light switch. Nothing. No headlights. Wiggled, pushed, pulled the switch. Nothing. Tail lights but no headlights. Turn signal indicators on IP were extra bright so put it down to a short. Went out this AM and when I pulled the knob all lights came on. Head, tail, park, turn sig. Everything worked. Twisted, pulled, pushed, cussed, and scratched my head. Looked for worn insulation, Disconnected all connectors. Nothing. Not sure if I'll gain anything by posting here but eases my frustration by sharing. :???: :hmm: :fs1:

:agree: Got in one heck of a row with a idiot, er, guy who swore he had a 6 cylinder V8. Gave up. Just wasn't worth the hassle. Wasn't a 'OBAMA" sticker on his truck but.....- 12 replies

I looked at 4 of my Jeeps with factory installed block heater. One comes out under the front bumper on the left hand side. One comes out under the bumper on the right side. One comes out thru the grill. Bottom right. Ones just hanging. Got a couple more but I think you get the point.

Might check a Chevy S10. They have an electrical switch attached to the shift lever.
-
Convinced me. Headed for the P&P. See what they got in VW diesels. Been looking for a Mercedes diesel for the last couple months but they're kinda scarce around here. Got a '89 MJ could use a new engine.
-
You are correct. That's what i get for making a rash decision before the 2nd cup of coffee. 207 vacuum switch. No electric.
-
Having a hard time believing a 1.9 engine can actually power a Jeep and give any respectable performance. Waiting for a comment from Rob.
-
Unless a PO swapped something you have a 207, Command Trac or a 228, Select trac. The electrical switch is on the left hand side of the TC.

Personally I'm a big fan of the word "Preantidisestablishmentarism".

Windshield Wiper Arm Removal
jimoshel replied to thejum57's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah.. But it's getting shorter every day. -
Remove the sending unit, pump assembly from the tank. There are several tests you can make but the simplest is to simply move the float arm up and down, with the ign on, and watch the gauge. There is enough wiring you can hold the pump assy. outside of the edge of the Jeep and see the gauge while you move the float.

And ya only hit him once?
-
Now just how many of the guys on CC would know that?

It's still way below my maximum bid. The thing on this is after the feeding frenzy of the opening bids it will be quite for awhile. Then in the closing minutes some lurker, who never even bid, until now, springs out of the darkness and grabs it up. Or maybe nobody wins and it just fades back into oblivion for another time period.

X rated. And the way that front MJ is eying that fire hydrant. I don't know.
-
I think the problem here is in the time frames. My military experience ended in the mid 60's. You're talking about the 80's. A lot can change in that time.
-
Get it! If you can't handle a few minor details then you got no business with a Jeep in the first place.
