  1. If you've got a loose column, PM me. Somewhere I have a complete .pdf teardown of a GM column to rebuild it to factory new. It's not near as bad as I had initially thought it was going to be. P.S. AMC used GM columns in the MJ
  2. But, if it's too long, it can be shortened by a driveline shop pretty easily!
  3. Awesome! Welcome to the gang!
  4. That's how mine started. I check oil and add my fillup via the app every time I fuel up. It's all part of the process at this point.
  5. I'm apparently dyslexic when staring at a monitor all day
  6. Personally, I'd find an XJ with A/C and swap in the dash. That's the most difficult and time consuming part in my opinion. Then you'll just need to add in the under hood stuff which you can pull the heater box from the same XJ and order new pieces following Minut's guide.
  7. And therein lies the problem! I was just up the street from there for several years!
  8. Well, I thought for sure I'd have the most fuel-ups on fuelly.com for comanches.....nope! I'm currently sitting at 133 fill ups there's someone with 143 and yet another with 204. I do have some of the highest average GPM though for trucks with over 20 fill ups (I don't count the ones with 2 or 3 tanks logged and one of them is like 68 mpg...). Who here uses fuelly to track their gas mileage? My signature has a link if you have no idea what I'm talking about
  9. Man, I always wanted to visit S&W....I just always ended up at Pull-a-part instead.
  10. Well it's definitely a Spring Over Axle (SOA) which is modified in how it attaches to the axle (stock comanches have the axle sitting on the spring or SUA, Spring Under Axle). Shackle looks modified going from memory, hopefully someone else can chime in on that. Springs look to be standard spring packs with 2 helpers added, not sure if that's a stock metric ton spring or not.
  11. I'll be doing the exact same thing this winter. I have lockers (Detriot rear and aussie front), trusses, a rebuild kit for both axles and a 4.10 gearset for my D44....just need to grab a free weekend and a 4.10 D30 gearset for the front. Also have all the tools. It's not a bad process, the first axle will take you a bit longer than the second, I recommend getting an old engine stand and Summit Racing's axle holder for engine stands as a workbench. Also bleepingjeep's pinion holding tool is fantastic and works well with a short piece of pipe and the axle holder. Best part is, you can sell all the tools afterwards to someone else who wants to do their gears if you're only doing the one. Each axle needs: Master rebuild kit New gearset (thick) -or- New gearset and carrier -or New gearset and Locker (some types like Detroit, helical gear, and e-lockers replace the carrier completely) 3-4 qts of Gear Oil Personally, I won't get rid of my D44 rear. It's unique for a Comanche, it's stronger than any other bolt-in option, plus there's more aftermarket parts for it than any other axle you'll ever stuff under there except maybe a GM 10 bolt. If you don't have plans for Xmas I'll be down here doing one axle then the other
  12. Get the VIN for the Registry?
  13. What's the plan for the motor? I read dirty diesel and got excited but didn't see any plans for an oil burner....
  14. Thanks Pete! Was nice to finally put a face with an avatar!
  15. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2753933004862391/ Ac and heat work.
  16. If you're still stumped after following all of the above, shoot me a PM. I had a similiar-ish issue (With my H.O. motor) that came from removing the valve cover....I busted a solder in my wiring harness when I moved it and it caused intermittent issues just like this. I wouldn't suspect this though unless all your grounds, vacuum lines, etc. are known good. I have a post about it....somewhere......
  17. Time, time, time.... that's why I am asking if anyone is interested who's done it before.
  18. If it is it's the vacuum, harness behind the dash. I've replaced all the vac lines under the hood, including the one that feeds under the dash (that was a serious PITA for sure). In that case going to 97+ is even better because those vents are electrically operated I believe, no vacuum solenoids.
  19. Keep us updated with your progress. Lucky you have a renix.....the REM is a fantastic little tool us H.O. guys can only dream about.
  20. Yup. Used to have pictures of me doing around New Orleans.....dunno where they went.

  23. Yeah. There's better options now though. You ever see the 4L60 controlled with a set of house light switches? It's every bit a trashy as you would think but it works!
