  1. Welp, turns out it was the slip yoke ujoint. $118 later the jeep runs smooth as butter again.
  2. 232k and counting. Broken trip meter though..... Edit 12/7/20: 235873.0 and climbing.... Edit 12/13/21: Finally hit 250k last month. 250810.3 at fillup yesterday. Edit 7/20/23: 263007 as of last fill-up.
  3. Well.... not the front driveshaft. Moving on to the rear tomorrow....
  4. Not the first time I've seen this mentioned. Will be my solution, I'll have pics, etc. when I get around to it!
  5. Harmonic balancer. Vibrations change with rpm.

No worries, jdog, we appreciate all the work you do around here. On a slightly different note, is there a listing of all the available options somewhere? I looked for a sticky and didn't see one, wasn't exactly sure how to search for it without pulling up every post from the registry.

This one is LWB. Has metric ton springs from PO.

Yup. Worst part is, I stumbled onto this thing by complete accident. Guy had it and his gf didn't like diving stick....so I traded a 94 BMW 740 (that I hated) for it. I paid less for this than most people do for their non-drivers....but I do love this damn thing!
  9. I was quoted $400 in 2018 here in South Louisiana. Ended up buying my own tools and doing it myself for my Nova. I'll be doing my MJ this winter, don't know how far Baton Rouge is from ya but you help me with mine and we can do yours gratis one weekend.
  10. I've got a big of slop rotationally but not seeing anything in the ujoint itself. Will do. Think I can get to most of those without any special tools (going off memory).
  11. I think you mean transfer case
  12. Good to know. I'll have to see if I have a spare one laying around....my press is in storage in a different state.
  13. Nope, all 4 are good. Plus the engine loading wouldn't change things for a screw.
  14. Yeah was wondering about this. Don't have an SYE. Wouldn't be driving very far and there's no hills in south Louisiana....I think I'll be ok. Anybody done this before?

    Ewwww.....California Emissions? Thanks Jdog!
  21. This is what I'm leaning towards right now. As soon as I can get some time alone with the Jeep, I'll be pulling each driveshaft and driving to test. I'm hoping for a driveshaft ujoint and not a front axle ujoint.

Wow, I had thought I did this years ago when we first started tracking VINs.... 1992, Jeep, Comanche Pioneer. 4.0L/ AX-15 / NP-231 / Dana 30 / Dana 44 / LWB Build date: Unknown Current Location: New Orleans, La Status: Daily Driver (238k and counting!) Notes: Bench Seat, Vinyl Interior, Floor Shift, Originally Hunter Green Exterior and Tan Interior. Current owner: Me.
  23. Nope not at all. Doesn't strike me as an engine miss, and I can't get it to replicate very well in 1st/2nd gear (where a miss would be most obvious).
  24. Yup, got that. In my experience U-joint vibrations are dependent on vehicle speed not engine RPM and usually still vibrate unloaded. This one completely disappears. Will continue to troubleshoot this week....
