Universal seat covers
mikekaz1 replied to DirtyComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You'd be surprised what a steam cleaner will do! Even a "DIY" car wash power washer will do surprisingly well. (Obviously take the seats out first) -
List price by me is only $71.99!

Good gracious! My prayers have been answered. New england has slowly been reclaiming my sending unit as its own again (rusting). And I've been covering it with seal all and hoping for the best for at least a year now. And for $80 even if you didn't need one. Its worth the investment invade they go MIA again.

Universal seat covers

Are yours torn and ripped? If their just dirty... you could always have then steam cleaned. My buddy has one at his body shop that I used with some "cherry bomb" cleaner. Made my seats brand new again. Just make sure its a warm day and you don't have to drive anywhere for a couple hours. Or you'll get a damp dumper. -
The back could be had bare steel. Or have a carpet bad and upper plastic trim piece if I'm not mistaken.

Haha. Yeah I'll just drive on over for a Saturday cruise from MA. I dunno. Not a big deal to me. I kinda prefer it, doesn't let junk build up between it. Let's you keep it clean. -

so I still have no idea why the difference... -
I wish I could find a steel cowl hood!
-
Well the pass side is over nothing... right in front of the blower motor in that open area... and drivers is over the brake booster. AND its where the hood is doubled over. So it wouldnt go all the way through to the bay anyways.... I dunno, I'm toying with the idea still. Can't decide if I want to cut up my hood or not.

I went 70 once. I normally keep it at 65 though.
-
Got a set of these vents. Thinking about putting them in the outer hood sections. Seem to fit well. What are your opinions?

Universal seat covers
mikekaz1 replied to DirtyComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Universal just means it universally doesn't fit. Thankfully there is a good amount of aftermarket support for XJs. And quite a few company's make XJ specific seat covers. They cost a bit more. But you don't be disappointed -

will do! can anyone confirm stock size? Uodate: my shackle is about 3-1/4" wide and the factory one was about 3-1/8" wide. Negliable difference. And more then likely my poor measuring -
yup I have a 96 in mine also

I WHACKED at this thing with a 3 lb mallet and a quality punch and couldn't get ANY movement out of it, to the point I got nervous I would tweak the hinge mount.

Cheapo headliner solution
mikekaz1 replied to Dadinator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You're one of the few alright. You're the only one. haha, I dunno it reminds me of the old school pickups and what not. and as a plus if I ever have a leak I can identify it. -
I do have the roll pins... every attempt I've tried to remove them though has failed.... anyone have tricks or advice to doing this?
-
I know on my 91, the dome fuse and the radio fuse are inline with each other and functions swap back and fourth between these two. What's your issue?

Looks good! I like my bare metal roof too much tho, I guess I'm one of the few -
Yes. All 91-96 XJ clusters will work in a 91/92 MJ

Yeah, that'd be cool if you could. I'm really curious on this now.
