4.0l Years Flywheel Interchange?

Do you mean throttle response in general? Like in park or neutral? Or while driving? Your TV cable could be out of adjustment if its while driving. -
Direct Mount Coolant Temperature Gauge
mikekaz1 replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Very cool -
I have these converter box things that I got out of a parts jeep that split the front speaker feed and give a tweeter output with a couple dipswitch settings
-
Hmm explains why I had to run a wire and splice the dash switch harness when I installed one cargo lamp on my 91
-
Always wondered if speakers went behind those grates. I planned k. Putting some tweeters behind there at some point
-
the best year is up to who your talking to... in stock form the 91-92 are generally the best a little more engine output, more common 23 spline drivetrain, there the newest you can find (owners can destroy anything so this is negligible), they use OBD1 (hit or miss), the chryco electronics are a little more refined, ect... 87-90 use the renix electronic system (this can go either way good or bad), if your ontop of things it can work great and they can be a little more versatile on modifications. these ttend to be a little more optioned for one reason or another, ect... 86.... eh not awful but not anywhere as good as the rest, first model years are never that wonderful

went to pull my 88 parts trucks FSU hoping id atleast have something else to use, even if it would be wrong, and found a very good condition factory tank skid plate! but the tank itself looked very similar to swiss cheese  . went to pull the hoses off of the nipples and one nipple came off with the hose (HAHA) also couldn't get the lock ring to spin off... apparently that didn't matter because it rusted off of the tank anyways.. and I was able to just pull the hole unit out with the lock ring inplace. to my surprise tho, the intank pickups looked damn good, and it had a shiny silver BOSCH factory pump bolted in still, this truck also only had 95k miles on it BTW. after sitting for over 2 years with zero fuel in it I test jumped the pump with a 9V battery and it buzzed right to life. so I happily dismounted that to use on my truck as I had a rather noisy generic pump on mine. as I was about to get my unit ready to reluctantly send off to the rebuilders (2+week ordeal) , I was small talking to a coworker whose big into vintage vehicles and he informed me his close friend who runs a body shop is rather good at brazing and repairing old radiators, he offered to bring it over to him and see what he could do with it, forward fast a DAY and he brings it back to me, good as new. rebuilt both nipples and resealed the flange. I reinstalled all the electrical and my newly acquired bosch pump, gave it a quick spray of silver rust stop paint and a thin layer of gasolia e-seal (ethanol specific soft set ptfe pipe dope) on the nipples, then threw her in the tank with a new O and lock ring and WALA works perfect and doesn't leak!

engine noise after shut off...
mikekaz1 replied to Newton's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
mine ticks like that too, although not quite as audible. ive always contributed it to the cooldown process -
Curious, I have an 88 longbed parts truck that I just pulled the sending unit on... the tank looked just like the one pictured. 3 straps and a skid plate. The wires to the sending unit had the paper tag still on it saying 18.5 gallon on it...

there may be the possibility of it working if the fuel strainer was removed/fallen off? not quite sure.
-
sorry, but I don't see how the fuel usage could be anywhere close to the same. the physical length of the Delphi unit is 2" shorter then the factory pump. that has to amount to at least a few gallons difference overall in any event, its obviously working for you. how or why? I dunno. maybe its because you have a renix tank? when you pull it again could you possibly take a picture of the inside of your tank, to see its similarities/differences from mine?

87 sliding rear window
mikekaz1 replied to Troubador530's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
nor have I, you could always have a local glass company come and install it for you, of course for a nominal fee tho.. as I'm 99% sure the rear window is glued in -
and even still, the Delphi unit is ~2" shorter so you will loose some fuel usage. your gauge will be right, but there will never be a full capacity usage.
-
is yours long or shortbed? mine is shortbed 18gal tank. the Delphi/XJ pump sat dead center ontop of the baffle and would never seat on mine.
-
mine began leaking again, looks like the hole return nipple is cracked, I actually looked them up last night, and planned on giving them a call. their site said most repairs are between $75-150. which is honestly a decent price, given that a "new" unit for any one vehicle is normally in that range anyways.

87 sliding rear window
mikekaz1 replied to Troubador530's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
To my knowledge the whole window need to come out to replace the middle. -
But the initial counter point is the MJ boxes are all 14:1 fixed ratio. So swapping to a ZJ/Durango box to get rid of "variable" steering is false
-
Well. Rust soaked my sending unit, spread some solder on the nipples, replaced all the o rings and re mounted the electrical. And gave everything a nice coat of green "gas paint". Installed it and so far so good!
-
Yeah. I'm thoroughly confused as to what relevant point Tex06 is getting at....

Stumbled upon this

Where did you find that?
