  2. hey gang my 87 4.0 w/ AC etc etc is having belt squeal issues and i want to try the gator back belt to see if this will help but i can't find a consensus for which is the correct part number for it? any know the actually part number? thx Mike
  3. not sure how it is in your state but if you are forced to use ethanol gasoline (E10) plug reading is very difficult
  4. clutch and brake fluid are the same, they are just packaged differently - dot 4 has a higher boiling point than dot 3, and is recommended by some manufactures for brakes that generate more heat- you can use dot 4 in any dot 3 application ( but not dot 5 its a different - its silicone based and is not compatible). since your clutch is not a brake system it would be fine with dot 3 or 4
  5. my symptom (my TPS went bad just last week) was a bad hesitation when you stepped on the gas from idle - it would die if you didn't do it slowely
  6. I completely lined the complete interior of my comanche w/ dynamat like copy (rattle trap, off of ebay) - its sticky $#!& so it takes a bit of care to get it installed properly - it helps a lot on the floor, doors and the roof, makes it less hot and does deaden the noise to a degree (the windows now let the noise in - not much i can do about that). stinks like tar a bit so took about 3 weeks or so to air it out afterwards i have done it to both of my rides (jeep, mazda) i also replaced the carpet in the comanche - that was a pain in the @$$ as all the replacement carpets now apparently come really from one manufacture (ACC?) and they don't fit that great - requiring a lot of massaging and cutting to gut them to be acceptable - mines OK now but never got it to look right behind the seat
  7. i like my period correct ones - wired in w/ relays etc
  8. NTK is what most around here will recommend
  9. They don't have good tacos In colorado!
  10. Neon- green and lower it or leave it as is - thats one sweet assed MJ !
  11. i put the metric from general in my LB maybe 2-3 months ago and it did raise it about 3" - so i had to raise the front a bit or it looked half-assed i also had to drill out the perches a bit to get the locating tabs on the springs to fit in (not that big of a deal), but its because i have a dana 35 and have been told any other rear end you would be OK. i haven't loaded it down, but did have about 1200 lbs in the back and it brought it down maybe a inch - i was surprised at how little it moved, and it seemed like it was nicer to drive w/ the weight - lol - i am happy with the springs, but honestly if i did it again i would give some serious thought to the hell creek springs as i wasn't to happy with the 3" rise initially and hope it will settle down an inch of so sometime, then all will be good
  12. http://media.santabanta.com/gallery/global%20celebrities%28f%29/hannah%20davis/hannah-davis-5-e.jpg one of these would be awesome!
  13. like i mentioned Brad Penn - has one of the highest levels of zinc - i run it in all my motors (jeep, harley, nortons, chevys) excellent break in oil too http://www.penngrade1.com/zinc.aspx
  14. use it in everything after rebuild http://www.amazon.com/Brad-Penn-Oil-009-7120S-Engine/dp/B002RF8IN2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1436468279&sr=8-1&keywords=brad+penn+break+in+oil
  15. not sure on the bolts but sure sounds like you should apply the ole acetone/atf for a few days to hopefully help the situation a bit
  16. My experience also. I wanna try MMO and acetone now......... Not sure if its any better than the ATF/Acetone blend - but the smell of it is awesome! i used it to free all the bolts/nuts when changing my leafs and coils and put it on for 3-4 days straight - garage smelled like victory! they came off pretty easy (needed the rattle gun but still no broken bolts etc)
  17. Acetone+ ATF or Acetone + MM oil (50/50)= best penetrating oil i've ever used - free'd up piston stuck in bores, rusted nuts, that all he other over the counter stuff failed on you can also use Acetone and Diesel - works well too but not as sure as well as the ones above
  18. ah--hah man i am a dump$#!& - anyways just shoved a wire on the orange and it works thx!!
  19. Hey gang - so was going to wire an on switch to power my radiator fan independently - i understand the "orange" wire on the relay is the one to tap into but looking at my relays - the first three of them all have an orange wire going into them (counting from the cab towards the radiator). anyway know which one is actually the relay for the fan unit? thx! Mike
  20. i'm always hesitant to run any type of solvent/detergent oil in an engine with unknown history, especially in one that may have been using non detergent oil in the past as the sludge letting lose can block passages with catastrophic results - my MJ has a new engine because the PO added mobil-1 synth when he got it and it caused the sludge from previous old oils to loosen and ka-bam - cracked block and warped head. I would add the newest cheapest oil/filter that can found, add a small amount of MMO or some other sludge remover type of stuff ( http://www.auto-rx.com/- no ties to company, but i have used it in old harley motors and it seems to work but is no miracle rebuild in a can stuff ) and carefully run it a bit and change the oil again and repeat - do you have an oil pressure gauge - it may help monitor the oil state in the motor? If not listen to the motor carefully as they typically start making a huge racket a minute or two before they blow up (not that the stock motor in decent shape doesn't anyways)
  21. +1 for the headlight mod - i bought a harness off of amazon for it and it really improved the lights (they're are most likely other harnesses too and i don't work for amazon!) sorry can't help w/ turn signals http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H6YAGRK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00
  22. yeah Jeep D, you got me thinking about the OME springs very seriously now.... especially as like you said i don't want to keep repeatably dicking around and i do like a firm ride - i'm also less worries about tossing the JKS shackles - as actually i'm looking for a 2 door early XJ to play with - but i didn't realize i could reverse them for difference in height - i may try that this afternoon as the top bolt on the passenger shackle is barley fouling the exhaust pipe so it has to be dealt with i take it though that no one knows the actually Chevy year/model shackle that will work also put bilstein shocks in about a month ago, was a bit better but wanted a better ride and figured all the old stuff was due for updating... i primary use the truck for hauling my motorcycles, so a 2.5 inch height increase makes pushing a 500lb bike a bit higher, and increases the chance of catching the bikes bottom frame at the top because of new angle - my main concern anyways thx all for input!
  23. wow - thats a beautiful truck! bet the camper helped too
