  1. Other than the need for some squeak grease it was a neat setup. Pete, thanks for the song. As soon as I read your answer I knew what it was. Duh!
  2. So, we (my other half and I) watched http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=28d_1376035710 and couldn't place the theme song being played. It's on the tips of our brains. What is it? I'm going to feel stupid for something so obvious.
  3. The 2011 Fusion and the 2012 Mazda 6 that I rented on two occasions just ate up the highway miles. the 4-cyl in the Mazda would really S and Get while returning almost 30 mpg.
  4. I needed a pickup in 2007. My MJ was on the cheap on CL. I have had 2 other cars crap out since then and the MJ still runs; it has been my DD for past 3 years.

    Time Capsule

so, a mummified frog with a tiny top hat and cane are out, huh?
  6. I still have a windshield-sized one curled up in the garage from a few years ago... so its surviving okay. :)
  7. There's a guy here that does headliners for MJs... a1500ram. Also, welcome.
  8. The 16"x7" Jeep Grand Cherokee Silverstar wheels have been working great for me for the past two years. Came off a 1998 5.9.
  9. Now THAT's funny...especially coming from an Oregonian!! ...but seriously folks...Oregon, for the most part, is a very scenic place. Lived in Hauser Or for 2 years. Thought it was some of the prettiest counry around, Next to Colorado. And had the nicest people you could evr hope to meet. I concur; there's plenty of places here that look just like they should be on a postcard. People are friendly here, too- just don't have a California license plate on your car and you'll be in great shape.

    Time Capsule

LOL the opportunity here... set it up so when the Time Capsule is 'discovered', the discoverer will think they stumbled on to something they shouldn't have inside of it [.50 cal ammo can containing a picture of random woman with a big X over the pic (or torn in half), bag of ashes (from a campfire for example), angry notes [b**** had it coming! style], a house key you don't use (a screwed up duplicate key from a hardware shop will work), an old chef knife, a few used shotgun shells, half roll of duct tape, a broken/smashed cell phone, etc.]. That should get minds going when it is discovered and make the local news 20 or 30 years from now... only to be a cleverly pulled off hoax.
  11. Its a package full of all the great things Oregon has to offer to its residents.
  12. I have to chime in by saying I did the block-to-firewall ground refresh above for my 4 cylinder this spring, and it starts easier and runs nicer than before the refresh.
  13. I recall seeing some five-spoke style wheels made several decades ago with elongated lug holes to fit different vehicles. My thoughts are, if the elongations are divergent from the center, the wheel would not be able to shift around on the hub due to the placement of the lugs [and the associated torqued down lug nuts] keeping the wheels in place as one is driving... is this not a correct assumption?
  14. Yes, it would be more of a panoramic view of what is behind. Since the outside mirrors have a narrow view and I run a fiberglass canopy half the year during the winter months, the truck has its blind spots. Most five panel mirrors I have found are right at 35" wide. While it may eliminate sunvisors [mine are shot] and the original rearview [shakes], I was thinking the mirror itself could double as a sunvisor and if I tint the front window along the top or locate a Lund visor it would competely eliminate the need for visors. As I am 5'10", I don't use use the sunvisors unless the sun is low in the sky. Besides, an entire mirror setup is fairly inexpensive~ around $30.
  15. So, I've been only mildly kicking around the idea of picking up a Wink mirror now that I have a nice, new headliner in the Jeep. After reviewing THIS THREAD on honda-tech, I've been kicking it around a bit more. I've seen them in old VW Beetles but have not explored them in any depth in person other than from the outside of the car. They seemed to be popular in the 70s and 80s, and feel they would be period-correct for use in an MJ Has anyone used a Wink mirror in an MJ or have any thoughts on them?
  16. Are you referring to the MJ rear sway bar? The MJ ADDCO front bar is 1-1/8" dia.; the rear is 7/8" dia. http://www.addco.net/aftermarket/catalog/jeep/ You're right- had em written down side-by-side and posted the wrong dimensions.
  17. The Addco rear sway bar is 1.125" diameter... I have one. My only thoughts on this are to not crank them down too tightly on the ends or it will act like more like a spring instead of a sway bar, and that the mounts to the axle should really have a more secure method of attachment instead of u-bolts [i have had to re-tighten them twice and had to order a replacement part when I lost one on the road]. Other than than that, the sway bar rocks.
  18. Last thing I want to do is to throw another gallon of gas on the fire, but wouldn't headlights which are installed upside down blind oncoming traffic?
  19. Oregon: $78 every other year. Additional $100 one-time fee for Pacific Wonderland specialty plates.
  20. Bah! I saw a Skamper camper this spring on the local CL... I knew I should have picked it up.
  21. Even if you do break/destroy/ruin a nozzle, a quick trip to the salvage yard to visit a Cherokee should fix you right up.
  22. I like the wood sides and this thread got me thinking. With my beige truck some reddish-colored wood paneling such as below would look pretty alright (giant pic). Maybe some vinyl woodprint edging trim with faux carriage bolts could be used to finish it off.
  23. Looks like you may be getting that Charger back sooner than you think: http://www.elpasotimes.com/newupdated/ci_23591138/officials-order-removal-giant-neon-playboy-bunny-sculpture
  24. $3.75/g for 87 at Chevron station on US97 in Redmond OR today.
  25. Replaced the coil spring isolators and lower control arms. Took the canopy/topper off in order to prime to paint.
