  1. It would be a dana 44 not a 40,how do you intend to make a rear axle work up front? It can be done but I don't see how it would be cost effective.
  2. I see, that's kind of an uncommon cluster you've got.
  3. It should be tied into engine vacuum, how else would it get the vacuum needed to operate the hvac controls
  4. You can adapt the AX15 from a mid 1989 and up 4.0l truck to a 302 but the adapter is $400-$500.
  5. Yes the tach will be off, otherwise its plug and play. Some of the tachs have pots in them for adjustment and some you have to find the right resistor. Also make sure to get the right cluster, some early speedos hook up different then later ones and no cluster after 1990 will work. What's wrong with your cluster?
  6. Your gonna be better off with a parts car,its gonna cost a lot more in pieces and all the little odds and ends are gonna suck to gather up.
  7. It would be an AX5 transmission, you would never want to hook a V8 to it. FWIW a 2.5l with the right gearing would have no trouble turning 35s
  8. Ok,as long as you've done your homework. I don't want to tell you something will work then you go buy a bunch of parts just to find out they don't fit.

    Gas hit 3.45

Station down the road is $3.49 I've been driving the wifes Focus to work more and more

Your not far from me. Nice MJ
  11. I wouldnt think 3.55s would be all that bad,Currently I'm running 33s and 3.55s with a 4cyl. Its not great but it drives alot better then i had expected.
  12. I have a 6.5" lift and 33x12.50s on the stock axle with no issues. unless you plan to do serious wheeling your probably OK,your issue is gonna be gears.
  13. I have lots of toys, here's a few 1990 XJ 1985 EXP turbo 1963 Falcon Futura DS 650 (the yellow one) 1988.5 EXP turbo KTM950sm
  14. I just noticed you have a column shift, that's gonna complicate finding a full gauge cluster. Column shift clusters are gonna be harder to find and I'm not sure if you can make a regular one work.
  15. Yes I have 3.55s which kinda sucks pushin 33x12.50s with a 4 cyl. I'm going to 4.88s, for lockers I think I'm gonna go with Spartans for now.
  16. How much lift are you trying to get? SOA will be 5"-6" with your stock packs and MT springs usually sit about an inch taller then the std springs.
  17. Check your flex plate bolts, they are probably loose
  18. They look cooler then stock arms, just tell your MJ that they are custom.
  19. You need a new axle,d35 won't handle 35" tires. Its very unlikely the d44 front would bolt onto your truck without major work, what's it out of?
  20. Got it out of the bed of the truck and stripped the drum brake junk off,the housing is in great shape. Almost no rust and everything easily came right apart. Here's my disk brake conversion brackets
  21. I don't have one but they are nice, they are selectable and they replace the carrier strengthening the axle housing. Only negative is they are spendy$$$
  22. You shouldn't have much with spring under. I'm SOA with extra long perches and I don't have wrap issues. My XJ on the other hand has stock perches and lift blocks,it has major wrap issues. I wouldnt think a anti wrap bar would be that hard to fab up
  23. Other then then out on the coast we are lucky here in the NW,we don't have the rust issues that most MJ owners have to deal with.
  24. My brother has a 95 YJ 4.10 D30 with 297s that is about to come out to do a D44 swap,I could probably get it and I have a good MJ CAD D30 but I have no interest in building a CAD axle.
  25. I swapped the entire thing in mine but if you can't swap the odometer it looks pretty easy to adjust. There's write ups on how to make the odometers match. You just need a cluster and senders from around the same year 87 or 88 to 90. Real early ones the odometer hooks up different and 91+ they are electronic. There are write ups on here on exactly how to do it and what parts to get.
