  1. I wouldnt buy a Honda for the same reason i own an MJ, I like to be different. Ive got a Bombardier  But for trails nothing beats a dirtbike, ive had my Kawasaki KLX in places were 4X4 quads couldnt go.
  2. on my 89 the tank doesnt vent under the truck, the vent lines go into a steel line which goes up under the hood to the canister. yours should be the same. Also the sending unit is on the side of the tank on the MJ so it would be easy to check the seal and the hoses without dropping the tank.
  3. the pic shows a momentary micro switch controlling the fan so I'm guessing its wired to only come on a WOT,so the rest of the time its just restricting intake air and causing turbulence in the intake. the good news is they claim it sounds cool
  4. wow ive wasted alot of time and money setting up turbos/superchargers over the years, this thing works as good or better and cost less then $50  so by running like 0.001 lbs of boost i can get up to 25% more power
  5. Thats the route I'm going,i have everything to convert my TBI to MPFI. then I'm gonna put a turbo on it.
  6. I didnt know about a frame problem but that would explain why they do it then. I guess rather then reinvent the wheel i should just go with what works.
  7. I'm gonna run the brackets back to the second smaller hole, I'm not sure why i didnt in the first place. I'm playing with the idea of welding on a piece of tube to lock into the larger hole but I'm not sure if its necessary. I'm also thinking about making it so it doesnt interfere with the steering box at all since the passenger side won't have bolts there anyway. I'm glad i posted this thread you guys have given me some good input.
  8. Most people take them off when they go SOA so i would think someone here would have a set sitting around.
  9. I would call some shops and get some quotes, find out how much and what the shop rate is. this will give you an idea on price and if you divide the prices by the shop rates you will get a ruff idea on how long it should take. i would guess a shop would do it for around $400, which means the tech doing it is only getting $100-$150 so you want to bid lower then a shop but you should be able to make a bit more then a tech gets. $300 should be ok as it would save them some money and you make a decent profit.
  10. Ive felt that way too, i work on lift trucks. I get machines from the coastal fish proccessing plants that stink of fish and everything is rusted. we had one account at a pickle company it was bad too,the brine eats metal and everything else. i think worst was a bunch of lift truck from a rendering plant, animal guts stink and do bad things to a machine. ive gotten pretty handy with a torch.
  11. You never need something till you don't have it. I always buy the Redwings with the composite toes,i like them alot better then the steel toes.
  12. Other then the floors boards it looks to be in decent condition.
  13. They did a nice job mixing them together
  14. mine does this everytime it rains, there is an opening under the cowl this is where it pulls air from. you could remove the cowl cover and check in there. mine leaks because for some reason someone thought it would be a good idea butcher the air inlet.
  15. I didnt get to see the fight, had to find the results online after :( From what i read UFC 100 went exactly how i figured it would. I was most interested in the Bisping/Henderson after watching the ultimate fighter,it was good to hear Henderson knocked him out.
  16. when mine broke it broke off flush,i havent had much luck getting the nut and welder trick to work unless there is a little sticking out to get a good weld on. unless the bolt isnt stuck very bad which usually isnt the case on exhaust bolts. I have also burned broken bolts out with a cutting torch but you have to be pretty good with a torch to do it. there is some room to work in there,i got a cut off in there to notch the stud without removing the manifolds from the engine bay, when it came to pulling the manifolds i figured it was less work to just pull the head. with the manifolds already unbolted it takes a few minutes to have the head on a bench
  17. I can understand that,I measured and i guess the rear is a little taller then the front. guess i learned something new.
  18. thats wierd. when you order a lift kit its the same kit for 2wd,4wd,and metric ton. they don't say the springs are different, not to doubt you as I'm sure youve seen the difference and i have not. i may have to bust out the tape measure, remember i have an RRO lift maybe they can't count :dunno:
  19. not sure age but definently not sagging. actually my SOA kit came with my 5" lift kit.
  20. that depends on your leaf pack, and how high your perches are. I have a 2wd leaf pack, with 1.5" spring perches that are 8.5" long. gave me 6.5" lift in the rear. if I put in a 4wd leaf pack, I'd have around 7.5" to 8" lift in the rear. if I put in 2" spring perches (make sure they are LONG perches around 8 or 9" long to prevent spring-wrap) in the rear then you would gain another half inch over what I have. I must be missing something :hmm: I have SOA with 4x4 leafs with 1" tall perches and I'm getting about 5".
  21. I had the same problem on my XJ,unless there is enough left to get ahold of your best bet is to pull the cyl head then extract it. there is very little room to extract it in the engine bay, i tried cutting a notch in it and pulling it with a flat head bit but after breaking a couple bits i pulled the head. afterward i kinda wished i had just pulled the head in the first place.
  22. those might be an option, they look like mine except they have the back part i should have put on. so i could build off them the same as mine. since we plan on eventually doing accessories for other makes and models it would be good if we could produce them ourselves. but I will have to see what the cost difference is going with the prefabbed ones. We were kinda guessing around $500 for this bumper so $450 would be in the same ballpark as what we were thinking.
  23. You werent kidding is the frame solid? I would make sure its not too far gone before doing too much to it.
  24. SOA is gonna get you about 5" lift.
